I have made lasagne and am drinking wine from the place where i we will be living next year. Can recommend. Unfortunately we only have one bottle, but have already consumed a lot of gin so probably just as well.

House looks like a bomb has hit it. DD2 informed me that she has a friend coming to stay tomorrow, so I suggested she might like to tidy her room so that there is room to put spare bed.

Listening to Depressing Music from Wild and Mis-spent Youth. "Where Did Our Love Go" has just come on...

Am sitting on sofa, faintly hungover and still stuffed from lunch (BIL's fabulous cooking - barbequed leg of lamb with some sort of exotic salad on the side - deeelicious). We did the usual Easter Egg hunt for the DCs and their cousins in DSis's enormous garden (except DS, who snored on the sofa after a late night and a morning at work, and took no part in the festivities), and in traditional fashion were unable to find all the eggs we put out. We did manage to eat outside, although it was a little parky. DSM looking chipper, although she still hasn't recovered yet from the pneumonia.

I'm always Envy when I go to DSis's house - it's an absolute mansion, and they've spent so much money on doing it up beautifully, so I feel very dissatisfied with my humble abode when I get home. I like to hope I'll feel better about the place when I get a nice wood floor, but as they say, you can't polish a turd. Hmm

I hate cooking. It's an absolute bore, and when I win the lottery I will hire a chef.

Loving this long weekend.

NUFC69 · 16/04/2017 21:27

Yes, how are you this evening, Crem and Auriga? Miserable to be poorly over the Bank Holiday.

Aw, Herbs, what a lovely picture you penned of DS. My two were both in our local church choir (obv not on your DS's level), and we have just noticed that the almost four year old DGD can already carry a tune, so I have high hopes.

Beachy, Crepey barbecue sounds lovely - maybe one year ....

DH and I are slumped in our chairs, exhausted in my case from feeding the forty thousand (well, ten of us). Raspberry cheesecake was a great hit and DC have said it must be added to my pudding repertoire. As per usual when I feed the family they have left carrying pudding supplies; I suppose it does stop DH and me overeating.

The weather was not kind and the egg hunt had to take place indoors; the DGC before they left decided that Grandad and Grandma shouldn't miss out and hid eggs practically everywhere; we'll be finding them for days.

Re the cat, MrsS, our dear departed moggie had problems with crystals in her urine and, eventually, had to be put on medication. I think it's a common problem. I also seem to remember that dried food isn't good for this problem and you can actually buy some special food which is supposed to help.

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 16/04/2017 21:52

We normally have a few spare tents which come with 'full erection boy', Dh Grin I'll do a survey and bagsie some.....

The Henry Moore centre looks fantastic and I'd love to go....

Another place on my list, and has been for years, is this garden in East Sussex. MM might know it and I'd love a first hand review.

We're watching Carnage, the Simon Anstell vegan comedy..... Confused

magimedi · 16/04/2017 22:27

Don't know that garden, Beachy.

But is now on my list to visit.

Meet up???

'Tis West Sussex & Oi am East Sussex. Grin

Also watched Carnage a few days ago & am seriously thinking about reverting to veggie (but not vegan) much to DH's horror.

IDismyname · 17/04/2017 08:35

I was at school in East Sussex, MM

wordassociationfootball · 17/04/2017 09:31

Hello Crepinas

Herbs - DD LOVED Kidzania. So glad I took her.

Beachy - Thank you so much for the invite. I have campophobia (tents not fey gents) but would love to bring my DD's for the evening and hang out. I'm just not getting onto FB at the mo though, so would you might pm-ing me details, inc whether you be near a station in case I decide not to drive. Fank you!

Cremolafoam · 17/04/2017 09:33

Top of the mornin to you Crépies. Have been roused by Cremcat who clearly reckons I've had enough sleeps.Still feeling a bit wobbly, but a vat of coffee has stayed down, so that's good. Have slept a total of 26 hours since Saturday tea time. Only waking to boke. Lovely.
Family barbecue this lunchtime in local beauty spot. Am running up some rainbow fruit kebabs for same.

CV I do know that feeling of withering envy at proper houses with beautiful kitchens and properly laid flooring. none of the diy projects designated for Easter have been done.

Beachy, I would love to make it this year. Will have to look at dates. Promise not to bring any oddball randomers if I do come.Grin

NUFC69 · 17/04/2017 10:03

I have house envy as well, I am afraid. Every time I go to DS's I am green: he has this wonderful living kitchen running the full width of the house. Shiny white units, big island towards the inside of the house, family area at one end, long dining table at the other, big glass doors looking onto the patio. Both of our DC have much bigger houses than we do; we have a larger garden, but of course that's more work, too. DS also has a massive dual aspect bedroom, with separate dressing area, and a massive en suite. Envy

It's quite pleasant here so we are going out for a drive somewhere as both DH and I are fed up with working. Love having all the family around, but catering is hard work.

Auriga · 17/04/2017 10:25

Glad you're a bit better Crem, I am too.

House is untidy/dusty, sink full and cupboard bare, so priority today is to catch up a bit. Also want to go to Mum's grave and see if our sapling is budding. Can combine that with dog walk, happily.

DD back at school tomorrow for her last term Shock

Beachy, am no longer linked on FB but I've promised to sing at a wedding on 24/6, so we wouldn't be able to make it (if invited), sorry. Sounds lovely.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/04/2017 10:49

For those of you suffering House envy, please come round to mine. It will make yours feel like a palace in comparison.

I am lying in bed while DH does Loud Cleaning. Having done non-stop cooking for the past few days, I feel I deserve a rest.

Pleased to report that the cat has pissed in his box this morning.

Our house has been taken over by hundreds of piles of revision/past papers, etc. Plus DD's usual bags and assorted crap. 10 weeks till it's all over, though I'm sure there'll still be piles of crap around.
MrsS, did your DD tidy her room?Grin

NU, your DS's house sounds gorgeousEnvy

DH was browsing houses around the area we went to for the wedding. Not as cheap as he had thought! Not that we would be moving there - way too rural for us, although it is very relaxing for a break.

motherinferior · 17/04/2017 11:24

I am havering about what to wear to visit my former university tutor (who is very lovely, and I am going with friends and I know her daughter too)...eeek, must get the train!

wordassociationfootball · 17/04/2017 12:10

I need to do the 12 steps for sugar. Sort if edging off via butter.... I used to eat nuts and fruit....

Mrs S I might try your retinol. I think The Ordinary is exactly that, personally.

I adore bits of my house. The flowery kitchen floor. The hall and sitting room lights. Am messy but live in my head for the most part so house doesn't figure hugely and we havent had people round much since dh's depression set in. Next door are near the end of a side return extension. I might go a bit green after I see that.

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 17/04/2017 13:41

You certainly are invited Auriga, but sorry you can't come.....

I'll send details WAF and can pick you up from a station.....

Crem, Southampton or Gatwick for me.

My big two dc are just about to do a sky dive Shock

bigTillyMint · 17/04/2017 13:48

Beachy, is that a proper one or the indoor wind tunnel type? DD is v interested in doing one!

BeachysSandyFlipflops · 17/04/2017 14:20

Proper! But the weather has closed in and we're still waiting on an airfield on Salisbury Plain. Touch and go if they'll get up today!!

magimedi · 17/04/2017 14:28

How brave.

Beachy, I am not on FB but if I am invited I will have to say no thank you as it we get back from hols early that morning.

Talking of which - we are meant to be going to Turkey in June. I am now havering & have a week before I have to pay the final £SD.

Partly because of the situation in Turkey & also because DH hurt his kneww when he fell in February. Dr says it is just a soft tissue injury but 8 weeks on & the knee still hurts after a short walk.

Where we are going is very hilly * & does involve quite a lot of walking. DH is convinced he'll be fine but I am not so sure. He can be a dreadful ostrich & just ignore things & not deal with them in good time.

If the knee is still giving him problems it will make the holiday difficult, to say the least. He is dismissing it saying he knows it will be OK.

magimedi · 17/04/2017 14:28

knee not kneww!

IDismyname · 17/04/2017 14:37

MM If its Kalkan you're off to, then you'll need to be pretty fit - from what I recall...

magimedi · 17/04/2017 14:47

Yes, it is, Cloud. Have been there lots of times before, but not for 7 years or so. We deserted it in favour of Datca - but that has changed so much we thought we'd give Kalkan a whirl again.

DH is very fit & normally walks 3/4 miles a day but the knee is playing up after about half a mile or so atm...........

bigTillyMint · 17/04/2017 14:56

Ooh Beachy, DD would be well jel! Have they ever done the indoor wind tunnel? There are all sorts of offers on Groupon...

MM I was watching the news and wondering about holidays there this morning. Difficult call. How out of pocket would you be if you pulled out now?

magimedi · 17/04/2017 14:59

If we pull out now it would not be too bad at all - just the airfare & that was v cheap as I booked it last September!

I am in a lather of indecision (and am loving that phrase!).

Lalsy · 17/04/2017 15:12

Magi, I think if you haven't spent much so far I would be tempted to pull out and book somewhere flatter and calmer....just because it isn't worth the worry for what is supposed to be a relaxing holiday.

Auriga and Crem, glad you are both somewhat on the mend.

Have had a fun weekend, despite being stuck here. I would love a Sussex garden MU some time!

bigTillyMint · 17/04/2017 15:19

I agree with Lalsy, despite usually being an intrepid traveller - sounds like you will just be worrying from now till then.
