Nice one WAF! Sounds like an ideal NYC kind of time.

My local FB groups are very good for recommendations for Trades Persons, Lalsy, so you could give them a go...

Crem - are you watching the new series of Masterchef (I know you're a fan)? There is a very lovely crepey type – from Northumberland, oddly – who could go All The Way, I reckon.

In 'minor success' news, a magazine that I devised, wrote and edited for a new client went down such a storm that they've commissioned another issue! And I got extra money for my work, as it was so splendid. So, go me. Not entirely sure how I'm going to fit it in with new job, mind you...

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 14:46

Mrs W - How was David?

magimedi · 06/04/2017 14:50

Herbs - I am also a Master chef addict.

I was hoping the contestant from Northumberland was NUFC!!

She is much as I imagine a crepe to be.

And I reckon she could go the distance.

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 14:59

I thought of NU on MasterchefGrin I had to switch over as DH finds it a trifle tedious.

herbaceous · 06/04/2017 14:59

Northumberland-based Faye is a yurt-builder. If it's her, NU has been keeping very quiet about her yurt speciality. And heaven knows how she fits it in around the grandchildren!

herbaceous · 06/04/2017 15:01

I know it isn't really NU, before anyone accuses me out 'outing'.

MrsWobble3 · 06/04/2017 16:23

Hattie, David was as you might expect - the star lead in a play about a character who very early on describes himself as 'very fuckable'. The audience loved it, or at least they loved him - the hormone count was high. Adrian Scarborough is also very good, but doesn't have the DT glamour quotient so will not win the fans. The play itself is a bit so-so I think - any play where the characters have to explain the action and the emotion rather than showing it seems to me to be lacking as a piece of writing - but what do I know. Dds 1 and 3 enjoyed it a lot, dd2 has prudish tendencies so I suspect it wasn't to her taste. I asked dd3 if she was embarrassed watching it with her dad but she said 'of course not. I've watched the inbetweeners with him. And Fresh Meat.' Which probably gives you a fair idea of the general tone of the play.

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 16:28

Gringreat review Mrs W. I had a feeling it might be a bit sleezy based on it's title.

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 16:29

"its" title.

Mind has gone dead as DS is watching a German film with no subtitles about a teacher doing a nazi ideology experiment on his class. I think DS is going to swap his first language from Spanish to German which he really seems to have a feel for.

NUFC69 · 06/04/2017 17:48

You have caught me out there, Herbs, or maybe not .... I do love cooking, but I can think of nothing worse than doing something like MC. Anyway, what with the GC, my adoptees MI and BTM, I wouldn't have time for anything else. As the holidays start tomorrow we're on duty next week: DD's two for a sleepover on Monday then we're out for most of the day, including taking them for afternoon tea. I have recklessly invited all four GC over on Thursday afternoon to make chocolate dinosaur lollies and 'nest' cupcakes.

I hope DS's new regime is going ok, BTM, although it's probably too early to tell. And how about the other DSs, Crepeys?

Cremolafoam · 06/04/2017 17:53

YES! To Faye the crepey cook. I ALSO thought of NU and very vaary much hope that NU speaks with that marvellous accent. The not dry guinea fowl looked delicious as did her thinthin pasta. She will be the one to beat i hope! Exciting times. But what is the American doing there still? Slab of rose cake anyone? Beugh.WinkGrin

Have been in Sainsb. And bought the shop dammit. How can two people eat /need so much?
If i go to Asda i am less tempted.

MI meant to commend dd on her industriousness. I do tecall feeling maddened by dd loafing in bedroom all day with no sodding plan. I used to threaten her with forcing her to volunteer at Oxfam or Conservation Squad. Dh says his d used to bribe hi to go out with fivers.

motherinferior · 06/04/2017 18:14

Mind you she's now mutinous and cross.

Rosebag · 06/04/2017 18:14

Hatty DS2 and I watched that film (with subtitles) a year ago...it's very good and terribly scary...

Go you indeed Herbs I am so glad things are looking up. Star

I also like the Crepey cook...and she is really good as well as being stylish. But I don't like her tatt, I'm afraid...although that's a personal dislike. And am I imagining it or is Gregg Wallace getting more irritating with each passing series?? Another personal dislike... No spoilers...I'm teaching til 9 and will need to catch up later...

motherinferior · 06/04/2017 18:58

Oh dear, DP just came in and prodded the hamster. Turns out there's a reason why it hasn't moved for a few days.

They're going to conduct a small burial ceremony in the garden. I have to say we've never really formed a deep emotional bond with it. It's not like when the cat shuffled off its mortal coil.

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 19:12

Condolences for the hamster MI. Can completely understand lack of emotional bond - they just don't do it for me. Couldn't help sniggering at your description of DH poking it though.

Rose - it was a good film but would have been even better with subtitles. Have recommended Goodbye Lenin next.
Gregg Wallace has always been irritating. I like crepey lady's shiny grey hair though. I would go grey if I thought mine was going to be like that;

Cremolafoam · 06/04/2017 19:25

Oh mi Sad and Grin. Sorry about hamster, but that read ver humorously.

Rose I'm with you on the tat. It makes me think she has reached 'a certain age' and has a bucket list ( tattoo, apply for MC, take up quoits) That sort of thing and gross generalisation obv

Mrs w, I enjoyed your lowdown on the DT show. I am , as you might guess with my background, a regular attendee of theatre, music and al manner of shows. It does get old sometimes, after a long shift trying to make sure other people enjoy their nights out. Meh.

motherinferior · 06/04/2017 19:30

I feel life has enough grimness - I've been thinking just now awful this time last year was - without hamster angst. Given its cage was in my office I could get a bit creeped out but I'm not going to and in fact suggested the eco-friendly thing was to offer it to the cats.

Cremolafoam · 06/04/2017 20:15

SnortGrin

IDismyname · 06/04/2017 22:58

Hamster condolences, MI.

When I next turn up for a D 'n' S session, I will bore regale you with a funny story about me managing to bring our hamster back to life. Looks like it's a bit late for you MI Sorry.

Had nice lunch in sun with DM. We sat out so long, we were still there at tea time. We certainly covered a lot, and shed a few tears along the way, but it was a happy few hours. I also fessed up about the problems DH and I have had. She knew all along, anyway. She can read me like a book.

Himalayan ironing pile now more like The Alps. Still more to go. Will catch up on MC tomorrow while I finish it off. I did like Faye's hair, too.

wordassociationfootball · 06/04/2017 23:13

In Target in Harlem giddily checking out amount of sugar in fizzy drinks and cereal....well, we did go to Met Cloisters earlier Smile

Blackduck · 07/04/2017 07:09

12th Night streamed from NT followed by curry ... probing eyes open with matchsticks this morning....

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/04/2017 07:34

Poor Hammy. And poor cats, deprived of a delicious little treat.

I am beyond tired. And my week off is being eroded at a rate of knots. One day will be spent going to see my mother, and I am going to have to go into work one day. I just want a holiday. I want to sit on a warm beach, with a pile of books, swim in the sea and eat nice food. Not go to work or spend time with my mother who just wants someone to do everything for her.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 07/04/2017 07:37

MrsS St Lucia?

motherinferior · 07/04/2017 07:42

WHY ARE YOU GOING INTO WORK????

MrsS, it is paid holiday. It's part of your work terms and conditions.

Blackduck · 07/04/2017 07:50

Good point MI.
