Remember that people only post about what is going well. No-one posts photos of a bad day/about jobs they haven't got Wink

Stropperella · 05/04/2017 21:03

Eh, apart from me, MI Grin I feel better for not doing FB so much and can take it all a lot less seriously. I love it when I see some epic and lovely photo from a friend e.g. Addle's for her dd's b-day, but so much of what pops up in my newsfeed is guff from the echo chamber and/or self-aggrandising bollocks. I tracked down a few long-lost rellies on there, and now wish I hadn't. They are all male, gay, have no kids but have shiny hair and lots of inherited wealth. And retired at about 35 to faff around on yachts and think up insane dog names. They appear occasionally mildly amused by my middle-aged plainness and artistic poverty. Meh.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/04/2017 21:11

Tired, cranky and with hurty feet.

Rang my mother this evening "When are you coming down?" No hello, how was your day etc etc. She has already pissed off her nice neighbours and her friend who kindly did some shopping for her - "Why did you get this from Marks and Spencer? Do you think I am made of money?" I will go down on Saturday but would rather not. If she had a boot room, I would shut her in it!

Here: Boot Room N
Cleaner N
Revising Teens Allegedly
Moaning Teens Absolutely
Moulting and dribbling cat Y
Husband on the piss Y (with a mate of mine that I have known since I was about 19 - had no idea they knew each other).

DD1's last week of school this week - henceforth it is all revision. Slightly disturbed that her maths teacher, who has spent most of the year off sick, told DD1's maths tutor that there are "still two subjects on the syllabus that the class hasn't covered." W T A F?

MI - if it would make you feel better, come here and I will show you our bathroom and bedroom. The state of them would make anyone's lives feel shiny and glossy in comparison. I have just had an ISA statement and have discovered largeish amount of money that I didn't know I had - am contemplating spending it on doing up the flat (or at least a bit of it), but part of me thinks DH should pay, as he has more than double the amount of savings I have, and I paid the school fees... He doesn't like spending money, unless it is on records.

In S & B news, I see two new hooter holders have arrived from Brastop, for me to try on later.

Right you lot, I'm not playing Boot room Bingo.Grin I do like an 'orse but can touch em as they make me itch. There was the most divine little Miniature Shetland in the field next door for a while, but my eyes started to weep and nose twitch on approach. Shame really. But you cannae beat a goat
Stropps, wtf is wrong with you, posting so much in one day.? You are being far too epic.GrinGrinGrinonly joking.
Molly, on a serious not, can I help with dh sitch at all? Please email me if you want a rant.Flowershope the health worries are not serious and it will all be ok.Flowers
Mrs S LTB, oh but you sort of are! Wink if dh hasn't opened his wallet and had the work done on the flat while you are in forrin, well, don't come home.

I love the variety of our Iives. i love that you lot are there to come and see in the flesh from time to time. I love that I have a reference point for sense -> ( "Comparison is undoubtedly the death of joy" @StroppsGrin.) and rationality and a laugh and a recipe and cat bereavement care. You are a celebration of diversity and hilarity. Go Crepeys Go!

I want a goat GrinGrin

But I know it would be me doing whatever you have to do with goats......

Cremolafoam · 05/04/2017 22:10

They don't need too much Beachy, but , yes, I have to do most of the husbandry, milking, feed ordering, vet liaising and feeding. But Beachy they see loverly. We halve kids on the way, if interested😄

Cremolafoam · 05/04/2017 22:11

Woah, spellcheck on hyper drive tonight. Apologies.

Lalsy · 05/04/2017 23:57

Fabby post, Crem.

To, ahem, lower the tone, I am interested in vacuum storage bags and would love an update.

Stropps, that sounds wonderful. I have wanted to go there for ages.

FB - I tweak settings to hide, mute or reduce annoying people so I just see the good stuff like lovely dc pix and gin news.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/04/2017 00:14

Mmm, gin. Shall I put my recipes for spiced gin on here?

OP posts:
hattymattie · 06/04/2017 06:35

MI - you know that FB exists to legitimise fantasy and boasting. That and swapping photos of children. My youngest isn't even on FB just not interested. I also hide annoying people.

hattymattie · 06/04/2017 06:36

... I have never hidden any crepies.

Had terrible nights sleep - too hot. Am going to gym to try and exercise myself into a coma.

motherinferior · 06/04/2017 06:56

Oh Hattie, commiserations on the night. Mine was OK for once and I am going to conduct a Ladyjog.

I know you're right re FB - I am one of the people who tend to post about disasters and self-deprecation but we are a minority.

Blackduck · 06/04/2017 07:20

FB is okay in small doses but should be avoided if feeling particularly fragile. Unlike this thread which although can segue into areas such as boot rooms (hall in this house and ds's shoes are like Hatty's DHs - a death trap) is supportive and non judgy - something I am often in sore need of as I am (like Stropps) my own worst critic.

GGG I hope things aren't too grim with DM and, no I haven't drunk all the gin - haven't even opened it as dp has me reliving my good by bringing me back a bottle of Matexa from his trip to Koln.
We have booked a secure field to run the hound and check on his (I suspect zero) recall.....

In other news I am looking at whether the boy and I can get a cheap flight somewhere for a couple of days. Can get reasonably cheap package to Crete or very cheap flight to Oslo. No idea if there is anything to do in Oslo...

The vacuum bags are holding up after 24 hours.

The make (which I have only just looked at) is called: Honey can do - UGH!! Normal price seems to be about £18 for 2 large ones (large enough to take a super kingsize duvet). SO £4.99 is a bargain.

IDismyname · 06/04/2017 07:28

Oh yes please MrsS - would love new gin recipe to try. Briefly cruised through a 'How much do you drink?' thread a few moments ago. Had to leave. Sanctimonious tittering over consuming 2 glasses of wine a week. Hmm

Reasons to be cheerful

Taking DM out for lunch today. (She's getting in a right stew about all this HMRC/ Probate charges, which will not be applicable to us because we have our arses in gear. That's not making a blind bit of difference.)

Sorry. I'm digressing...

We're in for another sunny day
I'm going to sew my parsnip seeds (when I have finished the Himalaya like mound of ironing.)

magimedi · 06/04/2017 07:52

Didn't even bother to open that thread, Cloud Grin

Does anyone have a recipe for a nice, easy, make the day before, chocolate pudding? Need to make something for Easter Sunday & as I rarely eat puds, they are not my forte.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/04/2017 08:54

Oooh yes to Delia's chocolate bread and butter pudding. Or you could just make chocolate sauce (equal quantities of evaporated milk and dark chocolate) and pour it hot over ice cream. Brownies and ice cream also goes down well.

Will post gin recipe later.

My FB is a bit warts and all, I think.

BD, I suspect that any cheap flight to Oslo will be offset by the first cup of coffee you buy which will be horrendously expensive....maybe aim for a smaller city in a less expensive country.....

Good luck with the recall. He's not called Flash for nothing!

I would love a kid, Crem, but it might give me more reasons never to leave this house....

Lovely day here too. Dd1 has a job waitressing today, ds has an appointment and dd2 is off out with friends. I am planting strawberries Smile

Blackduck · 06/04/2017 09:59

Yes Beachy that was my concern re Oslo.

bigTillyMint · 06/04/2017 10:56

BD I have been to Crete twice - back in my previous life - and it will be warm and relaxing and fairly quiet I would think at Easter. Do you know where?

I am sitting in the garden in the sunSmile

Blackduck · 06/04/2017 11:04

One option is near Chania.
