Brogues

Anyone got any ideas for flat, comfortable but work appropriate brogues?

I have wide feet so a pointier toe is impossible and I take ages to wear in shoes. With a lot of time spent on my feet I just can't cope in heels and it's getting a bit late in the year for my trusty flat winter boots.

I have a pair from Clarks, Hamble Oak, which I love. So comfortable, I've walked for miles in them and they're brilliant. They're a little narrow I think, if you have wide feet like I do, bit they've stretched with wear and are like slippers now Smile

Thanks Acorn. That's exactly what I'm looking for! Do they have them in a range of colours?

I have purple hamble oaks. Gorgeous shoes and fantastic colours through the year.

KittyOShea · 29/03/2017 22:24

Ooh I like the thoughts of purple. Will be hitting Clark's on payday!

Thanks!

I have a couple of pairs of hamble oaks. My favourite pair are pewter and they go with everything. I can't wear heels anymore. I have some pointy loafers and they're so pinchy!

Hobbes8 · 29/03/2017 22:28

Also, they come in a wide fitting.

RicketyCricket · 29/03/2017 22:29

Another vote for Hamble Oaks. I have them in pewter and they're so comfy and versatile, love them!

Badgoushk · 29/03/2017 22:30

I gave Hamble Oaks too. They're very very comfy!!

Badgoushk · 29/03/2017 22:31

*have

HellonHeels · 29/03/2017 22:38

Yep, Hamble oaks are good!

KittyOShea · 29/03/2017 22:41

Wow unanimous approval on MN Grin

I'm glad I asked. They must be good!

Thanks all

Try Ecco, Joseph Seibel or similar decent quality shoes.

tigerdriverII · 29/03/2017 22:51

Hamble Oaks are amazing! I've got several pairs: black patent; oxblood with tweed inserts; tan with cut out panels; cream, pink and coffee. I've just picked up a bright orange pair from their spenny range, Isabella, from Bicester Village: allegedly £295 Shock reduced to £81Grin. I have silver brogues from Office which are nice but not as good as Clarks, and navy ones from M&S which don't cut the mustard for indefinable reasons.

NotTheBelleoftheBall · 29/03/2017 22:51

Me too on the Hamble Oaks, I've got three pairs: tan, burgundy and pewter. I wear them most days.

dinosaursandtea · 29/03/2017 22:55

Just threw out the burgundy Hamble Oaks I'd had for 4 years because I've worn them so much they're falling apart! The tan ones from last year are good as new, though.

Seasalt's brogues are nice, as wellz

olderthanyouthink · 29/03/2017 23:17

I've got a well loved pair of gamble oaks in tan and a Forrest green pair which haven't been worn as I'm being silly and don't want to mess them up.

NewPantsforaNewYear · 30/03/2017 01:00

If you're size 6, then there are dark pewter Hambles on Clarks' Outlet page for £20

BlimeyO · 30/03/2017 01:17

I tried on a pair of Hambles last week and loved them, but was not sure about wearing them with 7/8 trousers. Could I get away without wearing socks? Or is it sartorially acceptable to wear socks? I couldn't decide Blush

ThreeDovesAndSomePinkChampagne · 30/03/2017 07:54

Seasalt

citychick · 30/03/2017 08:41

Blimey I dug my green ones out to wear for the first time and I don't know what you call the length of these trousers but I'm just wearing hidden socks.

I have Church's Ethel brogues. Super comfy!

Acornantics · 30/03/2017 10:48

kitty yes loads of colours, and sometimes Amazon do really good deals. I have the dark blue snakeskin effect pair, glorious they are, think they were £40 ish from Amazon. Am coveting another pair for Spring. Let us know what you go for!

Zxyzoey31 · 30/03/2017 10:50

Do the soles of the Seasalt ones wear well. I easily destroy the heels of shoes if they are thin by my hard heel wearing. I love the Seasalt colours but I am worried I would destroy the soles in a week?
