Spray on sunscreen to use over makeup

I apply sunscreen under my makeup every day but feeling I should probably reapply on really sunny days when I like to spend an hour in the park over my lunchbreak. I don't like the idea of removing all makeup or adding my normal sunscreen on top of the makeup, there must be good products around that I can just spray on.

There are a few reviews online for products mostly available in the US - anyone has any recommendations?

I should say the products reviewed seem available in the US. I'm looking for products I can get in the UK.

Bioderma make one, from larger branches of Boots. The spray mechanism isn't very reliable if mine has been any indication.

I put p20 factor 50+ under my make up, I have done for years.
It's light and doesn't affect the application of my makeup but gives all day protection.

I used the Bioderma one last summer - I agree with OC about the spray mechanism. Garnier have brought out one recently, I haven't tried it yet

Bioderma has been on my shortlist but yes the reviews seem to b saying that spray blocks after only a few uses, which is putting me off.

La Roche Posay has rather mixed reviews, some saying it's greasy. Same for Supergoop.

I saw the garnier one last week in boots - didn't get a chance to try it but it looks good.

Tried one years ago and it was really bad, thick and oily, hopefully they have better formulations available now. Check out Japanese sunscreens as well for this kind of thing

I decided to try the Bioderma one so I'm hoping it lasts ok. I've only tried it on the back of my hand so far and it seems really good. Matte with no white cast unlike the La Roche Posay one and the garnier one I recently tried in Boots. It's not expensive so I won't be devastated if it does break on me

I tried out the Garnier one in boots at lunchtime today (on offer).
I totally forgot I had used it until I saw this thread so that is a thumbs up from me.

You could try wearing a hat in sunny days having lunch in the park?

Spray sunscreens aren't great for wearing over makeup. You can't just spray your face as it will get in your eyes, and they can leave the skin dewy or greasy. A good powder sunscreen is the way to go as it's easy to reapply over makeup without disturbing it. I have one I bought from the U.S. by Colorescience, though there are other brands that also make them (e.g. Jane Iredale, Peter Thomas Roth, I think Chantecaille also make one too).

Panda so what's the verdict on the Garnier sunscreen?

Hat is a nice idea but I'm yet to find a hat that suits me and I'm too vain to just wear any old thing

Violet powder is an interesting approach, tell me more. They are physical blockers presumably, what's the finish like, I imagine they may be on matt/chalky side? Greasy skin is not something I would go for, but dewy is the holy rail, which is why I'm leaning towards spray.

I followed the instructions (close eyes, and lips), sprayed face, and then went about my day. I am sensitive to sunscreen (can't wear most moisturisers with it in as my eyes go mad) but this was fine - no reaction..

I can't testify as to if it protected me from the sun or not, but I certainly didn't feel as though I had added anything to my skin - it was light, non-greasy to wear. In fact I forgot I had even applied it until I saw this thread which for me is a great sign. Its on offer for about £7 so not a massive investment to try it out.

Is the Garnier one the dry mist spray?

These sound very interesting. Surely there's no problem with the sprays getting in your eyes violet, wouldn't it be simple to just close them? I'm really interested to try as I'm always looking for facial sunscreens. Sounds promising panda

Exactly Fuzzy. I used the Bioderma one last summer and just closed my eyes when I sprayed it - no stinging eyes, no running mascara, make up didn't budge at all. It took a minute or two to dry in but left absolutely no white cast or anything like that.

That sounds brilliant lotta, I'm going to have to get some. Can't believe I'd never heard of these spray ones before

Garnier had a tester to try in my local Boots.

My eyes can be very sensitive to sunscreen & I had no reaction.

Re getting spray in eyes - Some sprays can feel fine once you've applied them, but you can end up with stinging eyes later in the day, especially in the heat. It's actually the texture that bothers me the most, as i have oily skin so the last thing I want to apply over my makeup is a spray. I find powder is least disruptive to makeup.

I use a setting spray with SPF. Currently supergoop factor 30, I did buy this in America but I believe Sephora is due to open here soon.

I ended up buying the Garnier Moisture Bomb as I was passing by a Boots.
Little beads of moisture just sit on top of my face, I waited for a few minutes for them to sink in but nothing seemed to happen. Really white, chalky face too. When I try to rub it in it feels really greasy and shiny. I must be doing something wrong.

I use the bioderma one too. I picked it up for the first time while I was living in Germany last year.
