Need opinion on these sandals!

Every year brings the inevitable sandal buying nightmare - finding something that is comfortable but also stylish. I have bought these. They are so lovely to wear but I can't decide if they are nice or not?? They weren't cheap so I don't want to keep them and end up not wearing them as I do with so many other things

I like them. They are sort of neutral

SierraJensen · 15/03/2017 21:37

Yes it's hard finding a comfy but attractive pair of sandals! I don't hate these, but the white sole would put me off, sorry. I got some nice sandals from Moshulu last year in the sale.

yorkshirepuddingandroastbeef · 15/03/2017 21:37

I like them.

However, I do rank comfort above style as I like to walk a LOT.

SleepFreeZone · 15/03/2017 21:38

I agree. These things can only be judged on a foot!

Bluntness100 · 15/03/2017 21:38

Yes the owner did an interview, its available on line, and said they "look after the grey pound" they aren't trying to be all things to all people and they are not going for sexy. So basically yes their demographic is the older woman.

Bottom line though if you like them keep them, with the right jeans they will look fine. Just promise never to wear them with a skirt,,😱

lanbro · 15/03/2017 21:40

I'm 36 and they look like old lady shoes to me I'm afraid! I spend the summer in Ugg flats, some Croc ballets (excellent for poolside and beach) and fitflops bur I don't have to ever dress very smartly. I have some fabulous Dune wedges for dressy

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 21:41

The grey pound! Shock

That's it, they're going back

I like them, but I fear I do have a slightly frumpy taste in shoes as I need comfort due to a back problem.

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 21:46

Some lush shoes on there Spider

Gabor do lots of definitely old lady stuff and then an occasional pair that look great whilst also being incredibly comfy.

Your sandals remind me of Campers or one of the Dutch shoe companies. Slightly "Lagenlook". I really like them. And I'm definitely a huge fan of comfy shoes (but am 30, not 90).

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 21:47

Oh dear, I just said lush. That's frowned upon in here, isn't it?

OP posts:
LimpidPools · 15/03/2017 21:52

Christ, I just Googled Lagenlook. I must have slightly misunderstood the term, because I meant interestingly tailored linen, perhaps the odd asymmetric hem, not terrible art teacher cliché.

Pottedplants · 15/03/2017 23:13

The Hasbeens look great but are they very 'heavy'. I'm unsure if I'd wear them as everyday wear. I prefer flatter shoes as I'm always running around anyway.

Misswiggy · 15/03/2017 23:17

Don't buy Swedish hasbeens! They look cool (if you're sat still) but are soooo uncomfortable - the wooden sole is solid and they're impossible to walk in. I shuffled round the house like a geisha in mine I could never wear them outside! Complete waste of £100...

Pottedplants · 15/03/2017 23:28

Ah that is what I thought MissWiggy. I bought a pair of sandals from TopShop two years ago. They are flatform (ish) but they are so bloody heavy. I have NEVER worn them!

blueskyinmarch · 16/03/2017 06:51

I used to have a pair of clogs in the 70's that looked like those Hasbeens. I loved them and I wore them to school. My school had underfloor heating so I could easily slip them off and toast my feet. They were a bit clattery to walk in though. You couldn't walk far!

Floisme · 16/03/2017 07:09

Please stop trying to fob off every item of clothing you find ugly on us older women.
Wear them yourselves - I like my feet covered up these days.

repaintthesky · 16/03/2017 07:10

They look comfortable and well made, and if you are a nun I think they would be perfect Smile

PiratePointyTits · 16/03/2017 07:20

I love them.
Have a similar pair in tan colour that I have worn all over summer (am in Australia).
Wore mine with rolled up boyfriend style jeans, shorts, skirts and with 7/8 skinny black jeans for work on dress down Fridays.

I'm 42 and pretty cool so my kids tell me Grin

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/03/2017 13:30

I quite like them in the tan. I tried a similar pair from somewhere altogether more trendy last summer but they were too narrow.

Agree with whoever said you need to be careful what you wear them with though. It's too wet and wintry here for me too think about summer clothes though.

I'm 44 and wouldn't describe myself as frumpy!

FreeTibet · 16/03/2017 15:14

I like them and they look comfy and like they won't fall off. The only bit that puts me off is the white sole and the other straw sole bit. I don't know why those big clumsy soles are appearing everywhere just now.

dudsville · 16/03/2017 15:36

Floisme, I think you win post of the day!

cookielove · 16/03/2017 15:40

Wowsers they are -old lady-- unique looking!!

Not my style tbh!
