Need opinion on these sandals!

Every year brings the inevitable sandal buying nightmare - finding something that is comfortable but also stylish. I have bought these. They are so lovely to wear but I can't decide if they are nice or not?? They weren't cheap so I don't want to keep them and end up not wearing them as I do with so many other things

I quite like them too. There really is a shortage of gorgeous, comfortable sandals around (online at least). These are far less hideous than most!

Why does no-one make comfortable but stylish sandals! It's sounds like such a cliche but they're like the holy grail

I actually bought a pair last year and wore them loads. I was initially worried about channelling my inner alpaca farmer but they look better on...a bit sleeker, in a manner of speaking. I tend to wear quite classic fitted clothes generally which probably helps. They are v v comfortable as well.

Chewbecca · 15/03/2017 19:58

I like them a lot & have the heeled version myself in navy. Haven't dared ask MN view on them though.

They are really comfy.

teachergirl2011 · 15/03/2017 20:02

Not keen a bit frumpy but its not me that is wesring them x

taybert · 15/03/2017 20:06

Can you take a picture with them on your foot? I think it makes a big difference and it annoys me that more websites don't do it with shoes. I'm not sure I would have chosen them but looking at them a bit more I think they're quite nice. I certainly don't find them offensive anyway and I don't think you'd look at them and think they were awful in the context of an outfit.

Unless the outfit was awful of course.

lindyloo57 · 15/03/2017 20:23

I am 56 and i think they look a little frumpy, i had this problem last year, i found some in end of summer sale sandals from steve maddan, tan, small block heal with laces that you can tie at ankle or up the leg, love them so much went back and brought the black too, they cost a bit more
even in sale around £50 but at least i don't need any new ones this year.

MistyMinge · 15/03/2017 20:27

I don't dislike them, but I don't love them either. I suspect they look a lot better on. For everyday wear I think they're fine. I'm much more into comfort than keeping up with latest trends these days, I'm mid thirties.

Studyinghell · 15/03/2017 20:29

Very "old lady"

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 20:40

Loving the marmite effect these shoes are having. I'll try to get a pic of them on but a dodgy selfie is never going to show them in the best light.

DH thought he had escaped the annual sandal hunt when I bought these and is now tearing out his hair and begging me not to return them.

We once went in every shoe shop on holiday and he's still scarred

I think the white base makes it more interesting. And it's weird that the brown one is the only acceptable one, but it is a fine shoe!

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 15/03/2017 21:12

I think I like them. Depends what sort of stuff you wear in the summer.

I'd probably wear them, I'm 25. I wouldn't pay 70 for them but a comfy pair of sandals is a wonderful thing.

AgeingArtemis · 15/03/2017 21:15

I really like them- only in tan mind :)

Bambambini · 15/03/2017 21:19

I like them but I'm older and like comfort. That's the type I'd buy for some walking.

Bluntness100 · 15/03/2017 21:23

Sorry, I'm forty seven and I wouldn't wear those, I'd agree they are aimed at a slightly older demographic and by older I mean sixty five plus.

Shallishanti · 15/03/2017 21:25

can't believe you spent £80 on a pair of sandals you weren't sure about
Shock
I agonise over spending more than £25!

ArriettyClock1 · 15/03/2017 21:27

Bit old lady - sort of thing my mum and mil wear.

Bluntness100 · 15/03/2017 21:29

Gabor do tend to stray towards the older woman comfy style though. As soon as I saw the name on the link I knew it probably wasn't going to be good.😱

Pottedplants · 15/03/2017 21:32

I'm not keen on the white sole but I feel your pain when it comes to trying to find the non existent comfortable but not hideous sandal. For that reason and especially as you say you wear cool clothes, I think they look great. However, if you wear chinos and a Breton top they would belong in Frumpsville!

I was looking at Saltwater sandals recently and I think they would look quite frumpy on me despite my hopes that they would look vintage (y), I am just not cool or quirky enough to pull them off.

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 21:33

Shallishanti I thought I was sure when I bought them but the doubt has started to creep in since. I'm happy to spend that on a pair of shoes TBH, if it's a good make and they are comfortable, made of leather and will last

TheChineseChicken · 15/03/2017 21:34

You're totally right Bluntness

Potted it's total ballache

I think they're the kind of sandal that would look frumpy on someone who dresses frumpily (or has frumpy hair etc) but would look fab and on trend if somebody a bit younger and more stylish (which I'm sure you are!) wore them. I would also make sure you have a trendy pedi colour like dark grey/black when you wear them.
