Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

Enid my dad gets confused for my brother, boyfriend or husband (he's 53) and my Nan has been confused for my dads sister as well (she's only 18 years older than him though).

My dad chalks it up to "black don't crack"/greasy skin.

mintmagnummm · 04/04/2017 21:22

Thanks olli.
I really like teapigs too but ££!! What's so good about spearmint? I have a chamoosnd spearmint one I think by twinings which is another lovely brand for less money.

Ollivander84 · 04/04/2017 21:46

Spearmint can be helpful for acne I believe

EnidButton · 04/04/2017 21:48

It's supposed to do something to your hormones I think. Although I'd imagine you'd have to drink a lot of it.

EnidButton · 04/04/2017 21:48

*which is why it's meant to be beneficial for hormonal acne.

mintmagnummm · 05/04/2017 06:36

Omg that was meant to be chamomile and spearmint!!! Stupid autocorrect!!

Pupsiecola · 05/04/2017 12:40

Trying to find this article online but no luck...

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 13:15

I raided Aldi because I was bored
Lacura concealer pen. Shite. Colour is good, looks good, went to pat/blend it and it just... Flaked Confused not even like pilling, it just refused to blend and looked crap
Lacura Magic curl mascara. Like this. It's got a curved brush, was about £2 something and it's fine for every day. I got the volume one too, it has a huge brush so if you like that it's probably worth a shot

Tsmummy08 · 05/04/2017 16:59

Olli Sorry to hear about the impending op, hope all goes well Flowers

Also tried that Lacura concealer - went straight in the bin!

I'll do my monthly round up when back on the laptop, but have a question:
I'm off to Madrid at the weekend (with DD, so won't be that relaxing!) are there any skincare brands/products I should be looking out for?

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 17:04

I don't understand why so many people rate it so highly! I tried everything and it just sat in little flakes on my skin
My TO order has part arrived, the colours aren't released yet but I stocked up on azealic acid, trying the 1% retinol for the first time and some Dr Bronner eucalyptus soap
I can't always shower daily because of the pain and I love that soap for a quick wash, really refreshing

EnidButton · 05/04/2017 17:09

I'm in pain and feeling rough today. I'm thinking a little spending spree on some nice Spring make up would be helpful. 😁 There seems to be a swing back towards natural looking healthy make up which is good. Anyone seen any nice ranges?

Lancôme is often good at Spring stuff, will have a look now.

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 17:14

Do you have Instagram? trendmood on there has all the latest releases. Dangerous Grin

EnidButton · 05/04/2017 17:23

Ooooh...

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 17:24

her account is @trendmood1 I think

mintmagnummm · 05/04/2017 18:31

Omg can I join the pain wagon please!! My poor toe!!! It's swollen, red and very sore I am struggling to walk!

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 18:38

What did you do?!

mintmagnummm · 05/04/2017 20:29

Nothing! Had a procedure couple years ago and it's been fine! But since few days ago it's flared up and is very angry

EnidButton · 05/04/2017 21:29

Go to the gp if you can't walk on it! Sounds infected.

EnidButton · 05/04/2017 21:32

Thanks Olli I had a look. Smile Quite a lot of full on looks but good for seeing what the latest thing is. I am so over the nude matte liquid lip thing though. Can't believe it's still going tbh.

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 21:35

Yes I like seeing what the brands are bringing out and she seems to know everything first Grin
The Burberry highlight is v pretty
I have a couple lot of matte lipsticks but my fave is a kind of greige colour

EnidButton · 05/04/2017 21:51

I honed right in on the Burberry highlight! It's gorgeous. Definitely gone on the list.
I think I'd look a bit corpse like with a matte nude. Grin

Ollivander84 · 05/04/2017 22:06

Well the one I use is LA Splash in ghoulish so... Grin
Just used TO 1% retinol for the first time. Definitely stronger than their 2% retinoid

RubyGoat · 05/04/2017 22:24

My BRp50w arrived today. And very well packed too, IMO, no leakage or damage. Yay!

Tsmummy08 · 06/04/2017 07:48

Trendmood1 just followed.... oh dear :)
MARCH EMPTIES, TRIALS, AND PLANNED PURCHASES*

EMPTIES:

Nude Perfect Cleanse Omega Cleansing Jelly - it's my morning treat! It's expensive but I've already repurchased, and probably will again. Absolutely lovely. It feels like a stiff gel, then emulsifies easily and washes away.

Active Formulas anti-Ageing Moisturiser - meh, I (probably) won't repurchase. Has an odd grainy texture, and wasn't moisturising enough for me.

Lush Ultrabland Still love it, will repurchase

Toleriane Dermo Cleanse It's fine, will repurchase after I've used a Body Shop cleanser I've got.

PRODUCTS ON TRIAL:

TO Glycolic 7% - great product, feels effective, skin loves it, will repurchase

BR P50 V and W - still not used these, as still loving the TO!

TO Squalane - brilliant as an "oil" under daily moisturiser

PLANNED PURCHASES:

Still looking for my daily moisturiser - something unctuous and creamy for dry, crepey skin :).

SPECIAL MENTION:

Still loving TO Retinoid, Shea Moisture baby lotion (body lotion), Cerave PM (post retinol and Biore SPF 50 (2015 version)

Not sure about Caudalie C15 oil - it's OK, not keen on the smell but will use up. Still using TO Caffeine under eyes - not sure it does anything but will use up.

Tsmummy08 · 06/04/2017 07:51

Banivani I think you had some perimenopause advice for me - please feel free to PM if you do! I'm going to make another appointment with my GP today as I feel like I'm losing the plot... Lost my temper with DD yesterday over something stupid and feel like a shit mother :(
