whoops double post soz

hattymattie · 15/03/2017 15:16

Rose - you are lovely to read - and not whittery at all.

GGG - good list. I don't know if driving lessons count as a birthday present or not these days. It was certainly what I got at 16 and many of my classmates.

Monty - sorry about horrible teen - if it's any consolation DD2 and DD1 got together at the weekend and apparently DD2, when she had imbibed rather too much, said to DD1 that she had been really horrible to us and didn't know how to make it up! To be honest she wasnt all that difficult but I think she sees things more as an adult now.

WAF - hope your DM is comfortable and without pain.

Feeling abnormally sleepy which is weird as I slept well last night.

bigTillyMint · 15/03/2017 15:48

Pottering in the gsrden sounds lovely. I am grabbing a much-needed coffee after a work meeting and before a DS related meeting.

Rose/Lalsy, I have no idea how the interplay between anxiety about GCSES and DS's illness worksConfused The thing is, prior to him first falling ill, we never had a moments concern about him being anxious and particularly not about school work! He is even worse than DD was and she was a mare! Still, I developed coping strategies with her. Not looking forward to May though - it's always worse before the dreaded things start!

Blackduck · 15/03/2017 16:03

Rose GGG is right you are always very welcome......
I have just been to the dentist and am off home (early) ....

magimedi · 15/03/2017 17:39

Rose, I've never met you, but I feel I know you from all your lovely posts. I enjoy what you write enormously. And I love ivy - a v underrated plant.

Beautiful day here also - sat on the beach for an hour or so earlier - even put my fingers in the sea (ICE) as it looked so tempting for a swim!

IDismyname · 15/03/2017 17:45

Rose - take it from me that you don't witter.

I think I take that crown for the moment.

I just love knowing about everyones days - makes me feel less mad sometimes. Although I fully acknowledge I stray close to the edge....

Just back from taking DM out to see relatives in deepest Kent. She lost it on the M25 as I was driving her home. Had to stay eyes glued to the road as I held her hand Sad

Cremolafoam · 15/03/2017 18:26

Cloud thats made me weep a little tear. Dear love you.
Rose, thank heavens for waffling and daily grind reports. Makes me feel less 'nuts whole hazelnuts'
Waffle on dear Rose.
Well jel🤢 of sunny day. Grey and cauld here.

Beachy, for reference, my 16 year old nephew wants a drone.

addle · 15/03/2017 18:53

Beachy, ds got a record player in which to play vinyl, I think. He's vv difficult to buy for too.

Rose, in a group of warm, wise and witty women, you are still notable for your sensitivity and understanding.

Anyone else hum embarrassing Huns when stressed or distracted? So far this week I've treated fellow bus travellers to If I could talk to the animals (dr Doolittle), we are Siamese (lady and the t), I can do without you (my fair lady). Wish I didn't or could at least control the crepertoire.

hattymattie · 15/03/2017 19:21

Embarrassing Huns Addle? Grin. I love your repertoire - if I so much as utter a note in the presence of the DC's in a public place, I am told to be quiet.

DD2 wants a record player - are they really coming back to stay? My DB has taken all my old LP's and said I cannot have them back as I left them at my parents and haven't missed them for 20 years!Hmm

Rose - I forgot to mention I love your hanging baskets - was distracted by the wittering debate.

Cloud - M25 experience sounds dreadful. Well done for controlling car and DM simultaneously.

Stropperella · 15/03/2017 19:51

GrinGrinGrin @ crepertoire. Thank you, addle.

Stropperella · 15/03/2017 19:52

I can add Pop Goes the Weasel Grin

Collymollypuff · 15/03/2017 20:16

I was once in a fairly deserted Sainsbo (yes, the mahoosive one near me) and because of general distress was actually singing - albeit v. quietly. Naturally I chanced upon a neighbour and fellow mum and doctor . I think she might have wanted to section me on the spot. Reader, I ran.

Cremolafoam · 15/03/2017 21:17

Snort at humming Crepes and the Crepertoire IS GENIUS Starto Addle.Grin
I do this all the time and am regularly told off for putting ear worms 🐛 in people's brains.
Up up and away in my beautiful balloon 🎈

Montypulciano · 15/03/2017 21:21

Can we have crepetoire for the next thread title?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 15/03/2017 21:24

Anything by Leonard Cohen (natch).
Anything by Bowie (natch)

Also - random things from musicals that I didn't even know I knew - and Priscilla Queen of the Desert....

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGoat · 15/03/2017 21:25

Crepetoire is indeed total genius

Montypulciano · 15/03/2017 21:26

Crem I am singing all your songs

Montypulciano · 15/03/2017 21:27

Can recommend Priscilla cd for driving long distances. It's great for speedy motorways.

Cremolafoam · 15/03/2017 21:55

One of my fave movies. I have even been to That Hotel that the 'ladies' stay in in Coober Pedy Scary biscuits, mate.
I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses....

Collymollypuff · 15/03/2017 22:00

"Please release me, let me gooooooooo...." is one of my faves too, Crem. Speaks volumes.

Also: "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to
You would cry too if it happened to you."

Cremolafoam · 15/03/2017 22:00

I am particularly lowbrow in my singalong choices. Hmm

Stropperella · 15/03/2017 22:04

Crem, I don't know why, but your rendition of that Kraftwerk Klassik has me chortling in an uncontrolled fashion.

Ps: are yous lot meeting up on the 25th, or did I imagine that? Pls repost deets if yes. I need to escape....

magimedi · 15/03/2017 22:33

I get earworms all the time.

Tonight was :

I used to think Grateful Dead were so out there & when I listen to them now they are so country &western. Grin

That led into

I am now both wittering & showing my age............. Goodnight, crepes.

herbaceous · 15/03/2017 23:16

Crepetoire. Genius. I do this too. I sing pretty much non stop, and the choice of song does tend to give away my internal monologue. There's a book by Ann Tyler, isn't there, where the husband always sings songs which give away his internal thoughts, and it drives her mad.

I am so totally exhaustipated. Last night proved unwise: wine with no dinner, then Chick Inn chicken and chips at 12.30 at night, then waking up at 5.30 unable to go back to sleep. I've been looking forward to bed ever since. Mmmmmm.... Night crepes.

Montypulciano · 16/03/2017 06:27

Morning!

Waf, still in my thoughts. Hope dear Sheila is comfortable and that you and sister bearing up as well as you can.

Good luck for today, Cloud. I hope you feel reassured about your options.

Btm, hope your meeting goes well for you and Ds.

Rose, I could listen to you all day. You write beautifully and your posts are always kind, interesting and wise. Garden looks ace, btw.

In s and b news, I have started using Nivea at night and it is great for really dry, proper crepey skin. In the morning my lines look plumper and face less creased and battered. Read about it on here as a dupe for creme de la mer. I don't think it's that but it is good for really dry, lined skin. My Sainsbury's £6 jumper also much complimented at work. Moss stitch in bottle green. I love Sainsbury's.

Have a great day, everyone. Hope sun comes out. Beautiful here yesterday and looking bright and clear today.
