I am looking for every day casual boots but need the height. What do you think of these?

They look a bit orthotic or like they come from that house of frump, Hotter.

AllPizzas I say I need the height because I am only 5.2" and my outfits don't look right until I put some heels on.

I don't like the last pair either op, I think styles (soles mainly) like that just remind me of teenagers trying to look grown up from my school days.

BigGreenOlives · 05/03/2017 09:35

So much better than the first pair, they look much more stable too so easier to wear casually.

BusterGonad · 05/03/2017 09:38

I'm really sorry but there are a lot of ugly boots on this page! The best imo are the Uggs or the link by Eggseleven to Asos.

HardcoreLadyType · 05/03/2017 09:42

Those last ones are quite cool. My 17yo DD has some with a similar heel.

They're definitely casual and look comfy.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/03/2017 09:43

I'm 5'3 and trust me, lower heels are just fine. You're just used to seeing yourself in higher heels so flat look different to you.

A lot of the boots here are the sort I see very young gawky girls wearing with leggings - kind of the orthopaedic twiglet look. Is that what you're going for? If so, crack on.

EggsEleven · 05/03/2017 09:45

The last pair you linked aren't to my taste - too clumpy and I don't like the tractor sole and heel - reminds me of the 90s. However, styled the right way they could look quite cool. I don't think they'd look right with tights and dresses though.

DayDreamsOfMaria · 05/03/2017 09:47

Lady I could never pull off the twiglet look, not with the size of my thunder thighs anyway.Grin

I tend to go for chunkier shoes because I feel they balance my shape better.

EggsEleven you are absolutely right. I've just realised I totally had a pair just like it in the 90s!!!!

Problem with the Ugg ones is that the heel is only 4cm. They are just not high enough.

EmmaWoodlouse · 05/03/2017 09:51

To me they look very neutral and I probably wouldn't notice them at all so long as your trousers were long enough. They'd be too high for my personal comfort but I work with someone who wears heels that high all the time - and her job involves a lot of running about too! - so they may work for you.

Wedges make many people walk funny.

Any of these?

EggsEleven thank you, I like all the boots you have linked to but I don't think any of them will give me the casual look I am after.

Look at the mint velvet block heel boots. Mine are high, chunky and super comfortable and look fab with skinny jeans and also tight dresses (I go for the smart rock chick look a bit)

BreatheDeep · 05/03/2017 10:38

I don't like the last ones you linked either - very 90s schoolgirl. I wore a similar pair!

Do they have to be leather? There are a lot of suede styles that are lovely.

EggsEleven · 05/03/2017 10:56

It's hard because boots become less casual looking the higher the heel gets.

I'd describe these as casual looking. But by casual I mean I wouldn't wear on a night out and I'd be able to walk a fair distance in them during the day.

Or are you wanting something chunkier but with a higher heel?

DayDreamsOfMaria · 05/03/2017 11:17

Again EggsEleven I like all the boots you have linked to, but either the shape of the heel or the toe doesn't work for me to consider them casual enough. I do think that because of my height and shape a chunkier heel is better, even though this means that considered on their own, the shoes are ugly (or fugly).

These are less 90s schoolgirl. I'm still not particularly keen on them but are they more what you are looking for?

BreatheDeep · 05/03/2017 11:33

These are insanely high but have the chunky sole on a different type of boot which works a bit better

The Bruno Premi ones are stunning and would happily wear them at work

Not keen on the Anna Kein ones
