I have had a terrible hair cut (with pics)

I asked for something similar to Jennifer Lawrence in the film Passengers 😳

My hair was long ish and quite damaged so thought I'd go for the chop and it looked ok till I washed it and looked closer. It's naturally wavy/curly and looks so uneven even if I've not straightened it. When I blow dried it straight it sticks out like a bloody mushroom. Once it's straight you can see how uneven it is. Basically it looks completely shit no matter what I do.

Wtf am I going to do?! It's also a bit shorter than I asked for so now I think I'm just going to end up with it far shorter than I wanted if it is repaired. I could actually cry. I've had a horrendous couple of weeks and really wanted to feel better about myself. AND I've got a night out planned for this weekend!!

Help please!

I can totally understand why you were unhappy with the first attempt. 'Choppy' does not mean randomly hacking bits off and leaving other bits long Hmm. It looks lovely now though.

dollybird · 08/03/2017 10:24

Looks amazing, sounds like you should stick with the more expensive hairdresser. I wish my hair would go 'just' wavy like that rather than full blown curls even though all I do is use serum and mousse and comb it straight!

Chickenagain · 08/03/2017 10:43

I'm sorry, that is absolutely dreadful. Go to a good hairdresser & get it sorted. They might be able to do something without taking away too much length.
I hope you didn't say "That's lovely, thanks" and give a big tip.

Chickenagain · 08/03/2017 10:44

Oops missed the update 😇 looks great now!

CatsBatsEars · 08/03/2017 10:48

Your hair looks lovely Smile

MrsBungle · 08/03/2017 10:50

Your hair looks beautiful Smile

Tippexy · 08/03/2017 14:43

It does look good now but I think that's because it's been blow dried and styled? Once you wash it, won't it go back to being like your before curly picture?

DavetheCat2001 · 08/03/2017 17:03

Looks lovely OP.

Can I ask how they managed to get that nice smooth wavy look? That's what I am hoping for next week when I go for my radical re-colour.

Is it tonged?

oldwife · 08/03/2017 17:22

That's a fantastic improvement OP>

Lovely hair.

firsttimemum15 · 08/03/2017 22:05

Missed the update but have seen now. Beautoful will you be able to style it yourself. Either way its gorge

DionFortune · 08/03/2017 22:26

Ah thanks you lovely lot! Smile Tippexy that was exactly my worry, but I have washed and dried it today and it still looks ace! They styled it with straighteners and showed me how to do it. It's almost the same as when you curl a ribbon, where you pull it down and turn the straightener and it curls somehow! I had a go myself today and just did the front bits to tidy it up and it looks styled and everything, totally love it.

Such an improvement, I have no idea what they did but they have made it sit loads better and I haven't got the triangle shape any more thank god.

As I live and breathe, Jennifer Lawrence is alive and well and here on Mumsnet!!! Fab hair!!

Schmoochypoos · 08/03/2017 22:39

I'm jealous of your lovely new hair, it looks amazing

JaneEyre70 · 08/03/2017 22:39

Gorgeous hair OP.....well worth the £100 to look like that!!! It's really easy to get good waves like that with a straightener, the more you practise the easier it gets.

BakeOffBiscuits · 08/03/2017 22:50

Oh your hair looks fab now!

Your hairdresser isn't in the South is it?

MamaHanji · 08/03/2017 23:09

Oh I really like it curly! It's looks lovely! Not the first pictures, but the curly pictures look great. I'd pay for my hair to look like that.

MamaHanji · 08/03/2017 23:11

Ok just got to the third lot of pictures. That is some fit hair you have there...

AFierceBadRabbit · 08/03/2017 23:28

Love the new hair! (from the update). It seems to be exactly what you were aiming for now - I'm glad you're finally happy!

Intriguing user name too - I remember reading 'psychic self defense' (i think this was the title) many moons ago and just got really confused, think I'm a bit more in tune with carlos castaneda;)

DionFortune · 09/03/2017 00:06

I just laughed my head off at Jennifer Lawrence on MN and fit hair! Grin Thank you! Flowers

I feel all swishy and keep catching my reflection and can't believe how much better it looks. Just goes to show you get what you pay for. The salon owner even took pics and asked me to send them the before and after haha! Shows how bad the original was in contrast. They were a bit shocked at how bad it actually was. The hairdresser said she couldn't even figure out what the original hairdresser had tried to do. I also paid an extra tenner for their version of Olaplex (can't remember what it's called) which is supposed to protect the hair while they are colouring it. My hair feels in loads better condition so I will be doing that one again!

Re username I used to be well into Dion, had the Psychic self defence one and one called the Sea Priestess. Accidentally Kondo'd it last year, gutted.

This hairdresser was oop North I'm afraid. Well, NW. I will be recommending them to everyone I know round here though. They do have a deservedly good reputation and I understand why now.

Whats the hairdresser please

ClaryIsTheBest · 09/03/2017 19:21

What's the hairdresses? ;)

I like the curly look even before you went to that hairstylist. But now? Oh wow!!! It looks great !!

Bluntness100 · 09/03/2017 19:27

You're hair is gorgeous now, the color is fantastic, I'm really impressed. They've done a really good job.

HelenaGWells · 09/03/2017 19:34

Does the place begin with N? My hair is ok but I can't seem to get a low maintenance cut that looks nice. I absolutely love yours and I'm debating because it's not far from me and I'm tempted...

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 09/03/2017 19:36

hairdresser was oop North I'm afraid - oooh. Where?
