Have just taken delivery of some Farleigh high waisted Mom jeans from Asos, and they are looking damned good.

The denim is quite rigid, and so high waisted that it sucks everything in nice and flat and feels a bit corset like. The legs are a very slim taper, but definitely not skinny. Finishes just on the ankle bone.

Nice. Nice. Nice.

Pic please

MaQueen · 04/03/2017 14:43

I can't. I'm phoneless at present.

I like a mom jean too. I dont tuck in but I like the change from skinny leg shape.

BellonaBelladonna · 04/03/2017 14:45

I say "a,jean" with tongue firmly in cheek!

MaQueen · 04/03/2017 14:48

I certainly won't be tucking any tops in circa 1987 Grin

The denim is pretty thick, very good quality and not bad for only £32!

They'll look good worn with ballet pumps and Converse. Not sure about heels though?

I have these too, and they are good for the reasons you describe! Not very comfy to slob around in but look great :)

MaQueen · 04/03/2017 16:18

Yes, they're a bit too stiff/rigid. But hoping they will soften a bit with wear? Do you wear yours with heels?

Are they a weird length OP? I've been eyeing them up but not taken the plunge yet

HalfStar · 04/03/2017 16:22

Oh man I'd been trying to hold back from ordering these! Really fancy the faded black.

paddlingbackwards · 04/03/2017 16:25

Hmm ASOS do know how to ruin perfectly good jeans, what on earth...

EggsEleven · 04/03/2017 16:31

I'm hoping it's not these ones OP Grin what colour did you go for?

OMG they are actually called Mom jeans! !

Judydreamsofhorses · 04/03/2017 19:38

I have been after these for ages but they've always been out of stock in my size - just checked after seeing this thread and they're back. Thanks, OP. I love a mom jean, they are super-flattering on my shape (small waist but big hips) but find I pretty much only wear them in spring/summer with bare ankles and trainers/sandals.

MaQueen · 04/03/2017 21:54

I've got them in washed black, and it's a really nice colour. I have them in a 30 waist, with a 30 leg, and they finish right on my ankle bone.

I just wish they had a tiny bit more stretch in them, though. It says on the label that they have 2% elastane, but they seem to have no stretchiness in them at all.

I have tried on the Haydn jean at Topshop, and they were very, similar in cut, but a lot softer.

Oh I tried these and looked awful in them! They did nothing for my shape at all. I have a small waist and large hips like a PP, love a bit of ankle showing and always tuck in my tops, so they looked really promising, but no Sad

FedglingFTB · 05/03/2017 11:35

Mine just arrived the waist height covers my belly button. Amazing! I bought the longest length so they're just like regular jeans.

Annoyingly I'm a 31 waist which they don't offer. 30 is very tight but I'm in them. Do you think this denim will stretch OP? I'm not sure if I should go up a size or not Confused

IHeartKingThistle · 05/03/2017 11:38

I love their Ridley skinnies. Mine are really soft.

MaQueen · 05/03/2017 11:54

I'm not convinced they will stretch much at all. The denim is quite thick and rigid. The waist band comes well above my navel, just a few inches short of my bra (have short torso). But they do act like a corset, and suck everything in nicely.

FedglingFTB · 05/03/2017 14:06

I thought the same Ma so I've returned and sized up, hopefully they won't be too big around the waist.

Excellent find regardless, I'm so bloody sick to death of jeggings being passed off as denim!

MaQueen · 05/03/2017 14:08

I have them in 30/30, and they are just a tiny bit snug, but I'd rather that than too roomy.

Having said that, I'm in some super soft jeggings today...and they are soooooo comfy in comparison.

I have also been eyeing up the Slim Fit Boyfriend jean at Uniqlo. Looks identical in style, but suspect the denim is much softer. They're only £19.99 at the moment, too.

OP posts:
FedglingFTB · 05/03/2017 14:21

Ooooh not considered Uniqlo. I love the look of their High Rise Smart Shape, but none left in my size. Only a tenner in the sale tooShock Drat.

I think I need to leave this thread before I bankrupt myself on denim.

KickAssAngel · 05/03/2017 14:24

I have a question about jeans:

I grew up in the 80s when jeans stopped at the ankle. Then they started to be worn longer, with the back of them hitting the floor.

I love long jeans - I like when they go over the top of boots/converse etc. I can't stand a gap between top of shoes and then the jeans so that people can see your socks.

But everywhere now has ankle jeans.

If I wear ankle jeans and converse, can I still wear socks? I get blisters really easily so don't want to go without socks, and those ankle ones always slide down.

What about if I'm wearing ankle boots? Do they have to overlap the jeans or is it OK if there's a slight gap?

I really miss long jeans.

Mamia15 · 05/03/2017 17:29

Try M&S - I tried on these - lovely fit but the colour wasn't quite right for my colouring so got a pair of relaxed slim ones which are high waisted and have a bit of stretch and are the right shade of blue - annoyingly these are not on the website (the only pair featured are too long).

Mamia15 · 05/03/2017 17:30

The ankle length jeans look great with my ankle boots, birkies, trainers and superga sneakers.
