Dream, so glad your Shalimar has perked your spirits up. You make it sound very tempting. It's on my ever-growing 'to try' list, but I think it's fallen victim to its stellar reputation; as everyone seems to agree it's remained beautiful throughout its various formulations I haven't felt the same urgency about pouncing on it yet.
As for DH and scent, I am chuckling because you couldn't be further from the mark. He is clean and scrubbed, but the furthest he ventures into perfume territory is lemon and lime shaving foam. Everything else simply has to be unscented. He is bemused by my obsession interest but dutifully replies: "That one's nice," when offered a wrist to sniff except for Fathom V. He does wear cuff-links, though.
Les I was about to say you had a narrow escape with your empty Angel but then remembered that for you there are no known scrubbers. I can't remember what Angel smelt like but I do remember the frenzy of scrubbing after trying my sample. I passed it on to DD, which may not have been very kind, now I come to think of it.
The other day I got my hands on a bargain (under a fiver) bottle of Soir de Paris - so the reformulated version, not the original Evening in Paris. It starts off like hairspray! But it soon turns rosy and it dries down into a very pleasant, warm, golden, floral, which reminded me quite a bit of L' Air du Temps. It doesn't smell like a perfume created in 1992 so I think they must have tried quite hard to follow the spirit of the original even though the reviews mostly think it's inferior.
I doubt I'll get a chance to compare the two anytime soon, Evening in Paris seems to be seriously pricey and HTF on Ebay UK. I did see a lovely, large, almost full bottle, but in the description the seller then said she'd emptied out the perfume to make it easier to post the bottle...
