Talk to me about metallic Converse (or Superga?)

I like the look of some of the rose gold Converse I've seen around but when I google, the ones I find available to buy all look very metallic and shiny. Does anyone have them and what colour and the most subtle/neutral, or is that totally not the point of metallic Converse?!

I love my grey canvas Superga but the metallic ones look a bit weird. Are here any others I've missed?

Concerns preference here too

ChishandFips33 · 05/03/2017 12:33

FFS! Converse here too

Laquila · 05/03/2017 19:31

Damnit!! Just when I thought I'd decided on the Superga, there's a late surge on the Converse. Both are lovely, tbh, but I've ordered the Superga in a half-size bigger, so they're the same as my other Superga - i think the slightly longer size will actually look a bit better on me too. Christ, all this dithering over metallic trainers! My husband would be disgusted, if he had the faintest idea 😃

I have a pair of gold leather converse. I love them but they rub like fuckers, so I don't wear them Angry

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 05/03/2017 21:01

I have rose gold converse hi tops. Love them to bits - I wear them with everything. They are stiffer than normal canvas ones, and so took longer to break in, but they're great. Especially on sunny spring days, with my jeans rolled up a wee bit.

emsyj37 · 05/03/2017 21:05

I have the rose gold Converse - a Christmas present from.DH. Loads of people have complimented me on them, including much younger and trendier people than me! They felt a bit out-there at first but they are fine now.
I like the dark silver ones you have there. I have white leather Supergas but I dont like the toe on the coloured ones.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/03/2017 21:09

I think the Converse look cooler.

Blogwoman · 05/03/2017 21:20

Interested to see this. I've just bought Superga trainers in rose gold; can't make up my mind whether to keep them or go for these Moda flatforms www.modainpelle.com/gia-rose-gold-lizard-effect-leather-35 I want something I can wear to work with dresses/skirts - mostly I don't have to be super-smart. I walk down a track to the bus so not just stepping into a car & into the office.

Laquila · 06/03/2017 08:47

Ooh I like those Moda ones more than I thought I would when I read "flatforms"! Grin

The Superga are undoubtedly lovely - I just can't decide which are more wearable/versatile.

I bought the silver Supergas and took them back to the shop a week later. I really wanted to love them and wore them around the house trying to get used to them but just found them too shiny and too bulky. I also couldn't find any socks in my drawer which didn't look ridiculous with them!

I prefer the shape of Converse. Ended up buying myself a rather boring but super comfy navy pair from Fat Face.

Blogwoman · 06/03/2017 20:26

I'm wondering about socks too Chick. Think I need to do the wearing around the house thing. Probably should order the Moda ones to compare but unsure on sizing & returning them with cost...

Blogwoman · 06/03/2017 20:26

Will cost, not with

creamcheeseandlox · 06/03/2017 22:14

I have white canvas superga. H&M do some low profile sport socks with silicone in the heel grip. They don't show above the superga lower ankle profile.

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/03/2017 22:39

The Supergas are lovely, but I am not a fan of the rubbery toe on Converse in general.

mowgelijeffs · 08/03/2017 11:06

I crept on this thread the other day and ordered some Supergas right away!
Thanks for the inspiration. I've just ordered some embroidered jeans to go with them. Trying to wear less black and grey.

cliffdiver · 08/03/2017 11:13

I really wanted rose gold Vans but could not find them for sale in the U.K.

I got the Superga, will see if I have a picture on my phone.

PossumInAPearTree · 08/03/2017 11:17

Can I ask converse fans if they're known for being narrow? I have some converse and my toes hurt so much in them, they feel like they're being pushed together but the length feels fine. If I go up a size would that help? They're unwearable as my toes hurt so much.

mowgelijeffs · 08/03/2017 11:18

They look really good!!
I'm in love

Have you got the laces straight or on diagonals?
I have narrow feet so don't find any of my converse uncomfortable but they always rub at the back when they are new.

PossumInAPearTree · 08/03/2017 11:22

Laces are diagonal. They don't rub at the back.

cliffdiver · 08/03/2017 11:22

Those are the ones I have mow, my picture didn't do them justice though.

I have the laces diagonal, to make them tighter as I found the sizing to be too generous and I don't think they do half sizes.

TheDogsMother · 08/03/2017 11:26

I bought the silver Superga last year, wore them loads and will wear them loads again this year. They look great with jeans or skirts and really zizz up a plain outfilt. I'm also going to get navy Superga.

mowgelijeffs · 08/03/2017 11:47

Possum try putting the laces straight so the shoe can be as wide open as possible.

Cliff, I got mine in a 36.5 on their website they are perfect and I think that's a three and a half isn't it?

MumBod · 08/03/2017 11:53

I have the silver Supergas, I've worn them to death.
