How can I get 'glowy' skin please??

I have combination skin. Dark circles under my eyes (permanent) have quite a bit of stress going on. Not a good combination.

I get spots so I'm currently using avene skin care range. I exfoliate a couple of times a week. I am currently using the nip and fab pads. Wear make up every day, using Mac foundation and concealer.

I always look tired, worn down etc. My skin never looks flawless and lovely despite make up. I drink plenty of water and have a good diet.

Please does anyone have any tips or any wonder products??

I bought Macs' strobe cream in silverlight after seeing Jefree star use it in one of his videos. They do have 5 different colours I think.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 14:01

What's that orange like a highlighter? What's it like on you?

I could have written this post OP! I agree on use of highlighter - I love Benefit's High Beam but also like a shimmery cream eyeshadow pencil to carry around for top ups. A little on the inner corner of the eyes, a tiny tiny bit on the cheekbones, on the cupid's bow and the bridge of the nose and I look infinitely better.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 14:30

I have high beam but find it sits funny over foundation. Plus it highlights all the little hairs!

I have a pencil like that, for eyes haven't used it on the face so thanks will try that too

Laura Mercier's illuminating tinted moisturiser - works miracles on my tired, combination complexion!

DameXanaduBramble · 24/02/2017 14:32

Could your foundation be causing spots? Mac is known to cause this problem.

DameXanaduBramble · 24/02/2017 14:33

And ditch those nip n fab things, do less to your skin, you will really see the difference.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 14:40

No my skin has been horrendous for years since teenage. Had roaccutane eventually about 5 years which was great but still get them, will always have at least one at a time. I have only been using the pads about a month after seeing them on here and people talking about peels etc. So they aren't causing the spots and Mac iv only been using a few years and is the first foundation that has decent coverage that lasts. Iv tried loads and haven't got on with any others...

Mix the high glow in with your moisturiser and use foundation over it

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 14:59

I've started using Nivea's Q10 plus anti wrinkle serum pearls before my moisturiser, I bought it as it had a money back if you don't look visibly younger offer. I didn't expect it to work but its amazing! I've had loads of compliments since I started using it.
That and Milani's Luminoso blusher (a dupe of Nars Orgasm) over bb cream seem to be the two key things to make me glow.

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 15:00

Also the eye drops which are tinted blue to make your eyes sparkle, they really do work wonders. I only use them for going out/special occasions as I get a bit worried about putting stuff in my eyes but the difference is shocking.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 15:00

I worry adding extra layers of things will clog my pores? I wash my face with avene, then avene moisterisor then make up.... if I stayed adding other things before or after foundation am I not more likely to get pores even more clogged?

OP posts:
LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 15:03

I've never noticed my pores getting any more clogged, I have a good skincare routine, regularly do masks and exfoliate and seems to work for me Smile

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 15:04

Do you use a toner OP?

LittleOyster · 24/02/2017 15:16

A little while ago my skin got all lovely and glowy. I had spent the preceding few weeks taking a vit D supplement, and had also been going dairy and gluten/grain free. I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but something was working. Unfortunately, I have since fallen off the wagon and am back to looking tired and dull...

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2017 15:20

Let me guess, Mac Studio Fix?

Cos whilst it's a great foundation for longevity, nobody has ever looked glowy wearing that!

If you want to stick with it, buy a fan brush and a powder highlighter for the cheekbones.

OddMollie · 24/02/2017 15:26

I hate to say it because it's not an overnight thing, but this year I've been making a proper effort to drink more water, more regularly and it's made a big (but gradual) difference to my skin. I have to make a note of when I have a glass of water to encourage me, because otherwise I just don't bother. Because it costs nothing I'd say it's worth trying (though don't expect instant results!)

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 15:39

No I don't use a seperate toner Blush yes it is studio fix! I tried a powder high lighter but again, all it highlights is my peach puzz Smile

I take vitamin d through out the year (mega high spray) also take multi vit and a hair nails and skin supplement

I think I suddenly aged by about 20 years.

I might try the Perricone diet, feeling quite desperate.

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 15:53

I would suggest a toner then too. I've tried skipping the separate toner in the past and my skin is much duller, surprising how much difference one makes.
Have you tried Benefit's Erase Paste, or the NYX dupe of it? They work brilliantly on my dark circles.

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 15:54

Also, have you tried Clarins Beauty Flash Balm? Its a quick cheat fix but is absolutely amazing if applied properly - I thought it was rubbish at first but I wasn't using it properly.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 16:02

What's perricione diet??

No I haven't tried the flash balm, have given up forking out on so many different products and them not working! Is that a cream or make up? Will have a look into seperate cleanser.

I have tried erase paste but not the other one, I use Mac Pro longerar under my eyes which they suggested in store. It's ok but my skin just looks like I'm not wearing much? Which Is good as you don't want to look trowed on but it's not seamless? Also I have recently developed 2 fine lines under both eyes which aren't helping as it all just sits in them after a few hours Sad

Protein, berries and green tea, basically.

If you Google, you can get the three day version online.

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 16:09

Bleugh green tea!!! Well I have a good amount of protein.... surely there's only a certain amount of berries you can eat?

OP posts:
ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 24/02/2017 16:26

Also no sugar.
Berries and melon, I think.

The seasonal fruit buying in me is horrified, things are desperate though.
I think my Great Aunty Dora is looking younger than me these days.
