Went to buy No7 foundation (pics posted)

..... and my shade was out of stock. Since I've only just been "matched" I decided to try another store in the week. But.... had a little mooch around the counters and got a Chanel sample (which I'd NEVER splash out in, but I've ove £100 worth of points saved). Which is best on me? Here's the No7 shade...

What I'll say for the Chanel is, it makes my mid50's skin look very smooth and not a pore or pigmentation patch in sight.

Weren't you the person pissed off with hair?

beanfilledfish · 19/02/2017 21:52

yeah didn't you post your highlights yesterday - anyway its hard to tell anything from the photos

if your colour is wrong sort it out ditto foundation

meh

Eliza22 · 19/02/2017 22:16

Yes Aquasport, I was unhappy with my hair. All replies on that thread agreed that I should be. I wasn't being picky....she'd made a pigs ear of my colour.

As I said, I'm trying to get myself feeling better (even though it's very superficial) having come to the conclusion that I have to feel about about something As I have a long term, hugely stressful personal problem which cannot be resolved, despite all my best efforts. Thanks beanfilled, what a nice thing to say. Do you realise you're contributing to a style and beauty thread? People come on here to ask advice. That's all, just a little friendly advice. If that's the best you can do, I'd rather you keep your advice to yourself.

sorry but it's a bit odd to post the same pic of yourself two days running with different topics

beanfilledfish · 19/02/2017 22:20

are you fishing for compliments

ALittleMop · 19/02/2017 22:25

Get the chanel, it's got a more luminous quality - even if the coverage is a touch heavier. The no 7 looks a bit flat and drying.

Eliza22 · 19/02/2017 22:29

No. Not at all. I used the same photo simply because it showed a) my hair the day I went in to the hairdresser so, that was my starting point. And it just so happened, I was wearing my usual No7 foundation. I could have taken another photo I guess but I couldn't be bothered. I spend most of my days covered in mud and muck and caring for a very poorly DS. My friends and family suggested I try to take some time for myself; try to regain some of the old me. That's all it's about really. Just that.

Thanks to everyone who answered.

With all those points saved up go round every luxury cosmetic counter there and find one you love.

clumsyduck · 19/02/2017 22:32

I actually looked at the first pic and though wow I love her hair .

Anyway Chanel you know you want to !! Skin Looks more glowy/vibrant

Now if I can just find a foundation that does that for me Sad

beanfilledfish · 19/02/2017 22:33

yeah sure

XiCi · 19/02/2017 22:38

I'm surprised you need to ask. The Chanel looks miles better! Foundation is the one thing I don't think you can scrimp on.

BretonTop · 19/02/2017 22:38

Are you drunk bean? Bugger off and leave the op alone. If you've nothing nice or constructive to say, move on Hmm

BretonTop · 19/02/2017 22:40

P.s OP, sounds like you're having a rough time. Please treat yourself to the Chanel, hopefully it'll make you smile when you use it Smile

XiCi · 19/02/2017 22:40

Which chanel foundation is it OP?

Eliza22 · 19/02/2017 22:47

Chanel Teint Ultra Tenue. Never tried anything of theirs before. Wouldn't have been at the counter but the SA lured me in as I was waiting for DH who was wandering around audio 😊

Beanfilled. Lighten up, would you? It's just makeup. It can't take away all the woes of the world but, at least I don't have to look as if I'm carrying all the woes of the world, when I've got my "face on". Going to have one of these now and say thanks for the kind advice🍷

wobblywonderwoman · 19/02/2017 22:54

Got with the Chanel if you have the points.. You only live once!!

I would add that a friend of mine wears armani silk and raves about it&it is often recommended on here. Maybe worth a try too!

beanfilledfish · 19/02/2017 22:56

just odd to post yourself twice in two threads isn't it

peaceloveandbiscuits · 19/02/2017 22:57

Chanel is much more "dewy". If you like that look, have you tried YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat?

Eliza22 · 19/02/2017 23:12

Why Beanfilled? They were TWO separate issues. My hair and my skin. Is there a restriction on posting? I've ruffled your feathers; no idea why.

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 19/02/2017 23:13

I don't think it's a fair comparison tbh as the lighting and angle are different in both shots.

Not tried Chanel foundation but I have recently discovered doublewear and it's fantastic. Don't like the no7 colour match I had, it was too dark and felt functional but nothing special.

burnishedsilver · 19/02/2017 23:33

No 7 looks better but its hard to tell from photos and, from the expression on your face, you're happier with the channel. Neither look bad so it a win/win.

Mammatron · 19/02/2017 23:58

I agree the Chanel makes your skin look more dewy, could be the lighting though!

slinkysaluki · 20/02/2017 07:04

The Chanel makes your skin look radiant and dewy, have a splurge you deserve it !
