So glad things were a little better today BTM.

Here - I think the heating may have been fixed without pulling up the floor. We are going to have an enormous bill though as he was here all afternoon. I'm praying that no further leaks are hiding anywhere.

DS is upset because his brilliant poem only got 15/20 and he was penalised because the "rhyming was too constructed". He is a 14 year old boy for goodness sake. I think the poem was great (although I am his mother) and so did DD1 who is pretty good at this sort of thing. To add insult to injury, he wrote the first stanza for a girl in his class who was struggling and she got a better grade. DS reckons he is disliked by the teacher and has noted that only the really pretty girls got good grades.

motherinferior · 21/02/2017 17:44

Oh poor old DS, Hattie.

Lalsy, not even interviewed.

I am sitting next to a manspreader/bloke with bag on seat who was most affronted when I sat down next to him. I think he feels that as other seats are free I should sit there.

herbaceous · 21/02/2017 17:53

AND I never even heard back from an interview I had for a job that could have been written for me. Website editor (check) for the professional association for further education tutors. HELLO? I spent a long time preparing my application, a long time preparing for and attending the interview, and then nothing. Not even an eff off. And I emailed them four times enquiring.

Lalsy - education officer job in museum, gallery, etc would be my DREAM. But I am afeared - I think every single ex-teacher also wants to do the very same thing.

Lalsy · 21/02/2017 18:49

Odder and odder, Herbs and MI......just seems bizarre.

Herbs, you probably already look but GEM has some jobs n small places - not sure they all also get pushed out through the big sites,

herbaceous · 21/02/2017 18:52

Ooh, top tip Lalsy.

I have in fact just heard that I have in fact been shortlisted for the TA job, but have yet to get a letter.

And I've just written to the chief exec of the non-contacting-post-interview company to give him a piece of my mind!

herbaceous · 21/02/2017 18:56

Oh my bloody good god Lalsy, there is a brilliant job there, very local. EXCITED.

Lalsy · 21/02/2017 19:04

Oooh good. PMing you.

hattymattie · 21/02/2017 19:20

Wow Herbs - things suddenly looking very different Smile

IDismyname · 21/02/2017 19:30

Give all your Dear Children a HUGE hug tonight...

It doesn't matter if they're big or small.
Clever or struggling.
At school or not at school.
Arguing or giving you the silent treatment.
Home or away.

Have just spent what seems like most of the day at the local hospice with DS who will lose his 19 year old friend in the next few days. What a tragic waste of life, and what an awful thing to go through as a parent, to watch your son die. Sad

Montypulciano · 21/02/2017 19:34

Oh Cloud, so very sorry. Those poor parents. Sending you a huge hug too.

Lalsy · 21/02/2017 19:48

Oh Cloud Sad. Am welling up. Big hug.

bigTillyMint · 21/02/2017 20:04

Cloud Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/02/2017 20:26

Oh Cloud, how awful. Much love to your son.

Cloud I cannot think of anything worse than losing a child. Awful for the parents. Hugs all round. xx

motherinferior · 21/02/2017 20:55

Oh Cloud. How bloody tragic.

Molly and I have a mutual friend whose loss sends all minor and indeed major setbacks into awful perspective.

CointreauVersial · 21/02/2017 22:21

How heartbreaking, Cloud. Your poor DS. Sad

Sorry about interviewing woes - hunting for work can be such a demoralising experience. I've been on the other side of the desk today, interviewing two possibles for the assistant job. One was fantastic, loads of experience, and would fit in really well; the other (who is actually a distant friend) wasn't remotely suitable. She confessed she had virtually no IT skills, nor do I think she would be hugely compatible with the others in the office. I'm not looking forward to breaking the news that she's not right. Anyway, a third person to see tomorrow.

magimedi · 21/02/2017 22:25

To outlive your child is the worst fate of all.

My love to you, Cloud, to your DS & the parents of that young man.

Makes all my woes seem very trivial

GiddyGiddyGoat · 21/02/2017 22:54

Hi MM. Good to see you. How are you lovely?

Collymollypuff · 21/02/2017 23:03

Count the ways...

Cloud, I am so sorry for your ds' loss.

Collymollypuff · 21/02/2017 23:06

It must be awful for all of you, Cloud, but you are all being so supportive. Thanks

Cremolafoam · 21/02/2017 23:17

Cloud. ☁️ No words. Your ds is a wonderful friend to have indeed. And it will be a comfort to his mate's parents that he has been there for their boy. Sending you strength for the coming days.SadFlowersBear

WAF, I am reliving Galician hols oyb. 👙🕶🐟🌞

Lalsy · 22/02/2017 00:04

MM, good to see you - I hope you are doing OK.

Cloud, I keep thinking of that poor lad's parents, what a lot it is for your ds to take on, and what a friend he has been.

Yes, I agree - your DS being a fantastic friend will really be a comfort to those parents both now and in the future. It is so comforting to see our DC's friends supporting them when they are going through really hard times.

Fingers crossed, Rudy.
