ooooh I like this place marking.
I am 25 with really weird measurements, DP says I look like a cartoon lady! (in a nice way) I am basically a dress size 14 on the bust (34G) 10 on the waist and 14/16 on the hip.

I have a bit of a vintage style so I get a lot of reproduction office wear from Voodoo Vixen, wiggle dresses not prom style.

My problem is I love a dress but if it fits me on the bust/hips then it is super baggy on the waist and if I get a nice fit on the waist it won't even look at my hips or bust. I like pepperberry for work tops but they come so small on the hips that the dresses look terrible on me.

YakiUdonYumYum · 07/02/2017 08:37

I bought this Topshop dress and it's very flattering. They do various versions of it (in a petite fitting too).

It skims and hugs my curves quite well.

KateDaniels2 · 07/02/2017 08:38

Live this thread. All my pencils skirts fit my hips but massive on the waist.

I can not find work trousers, that i like, that look decent.

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2017 08:44

I got my best jeans from newlook. super skinny high waisted with stretch.

They fit me lovely, wash really well and actually have space for my bum!

The only problem I had with them is that they are a little short in the leg for me but I mainly wear them with boots so not too much of an issue.

They do come in different leg lengths but I needed them that day, so just bought them in R.

Excited about this thread as I struggle with a tall hourglass shape. Cheapskatemum I recently discovered the m&s skinny jeans and the are Star

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2017 08:55

Does anyone else find with a bigger bust anything that comes too high up on the neck is horrid? I feel like I am being strangled and it makes me look about 65X bigger than I am!

KatharinaRosalie · 07/02/2017 09:30

I have big boobs and yes anything high neck is horrible, makes me look like a tank. I like cowl necks best, and some scoops. V-s are flattering but they often tend to be too revealing - somehing that looks elegant on someone with smaller boobs will make me look like a porns star.

SunnyL · 07/02/2017 09:44

oh yes hairspray I've made the mistake of wearing a slash neck top today and I look mahoosive

Oblomov17 · 07/02/2017 09:48

Oh I love that house of Fraser jersey dress but it has limited sizes!!

Oblomov17 · 07/02/2017 09:53

I can't find black work trousers ATM.

Plus a shortage of short, fitted tops. Generally.

MiniAlphaBravo · 07/02/2017 09:54

Place marking (sorry) in anticipation of not being pregnant (40+2 today got to happen soon right?!) and buying some nice new clothes. Am usually an hourglass shape but also only 5ft 2 with a very short body so not ideal for finding clothes. I also like m&s skinny jeans but find that dresses are usually better for me than jeans/leggings etc. But then I sometimes feel overdressed! I look much better in formal/going out clothes than casual, anyone else like this?

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2017 10:13

Yes! No fitted tops anywhere! everything is floaty or boxy! I need fitted to show off my waist or I look like a blob. Everything is deeply unflattering.

I got some nice work tops in H&M last week, I might pop in again after payday (next week) to get a few more.

AgathaF · 07/02/2017 11:40

Boxy tops - look fab on everyone else, look absolutely pants on me.

Weebleswobbles · 07/02/2017 11:57

Great sharing going on - if you find something fab that makes the most of your hourglass figure - please put a link Smileso we can all pounce on it

Just been browsing another style and beauty thread because my 'practical 3in1 rainjacket from Craighoppers has had it ( after being worn every day for 4 years). It was brilliant but did nothing for me made me look like a boring black sack of spuds

So I just ordered this from Joules in the sale - the waist drawstring sold me and looks like you can make it flatterwww.joules.com/Sale/Womens-Sale/Raina/Waterproof-Parka/Grape-Leaf-Floral?id=U_RAINA%7CGRPLEFL

I like this thread!

7 for all mankind Kimmie jeans are the only ones that don't bag at the back waist for me, and are on sale - m.7forallmankind.co.uk/en_en/catalogsearch/result/?q=Kimmie

Still expensive but they last for years.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/02/2017 17:34

www.stories.com/us/Sale/All_sale/Waisted_Dress/590757-103845034.1

Don't laugh! I know it has a high neck, but super super flattering on those of us with massive tits and small shoulders.

Nellyphants · 07/02/2017 18:14

More expensive, lk Bennett straight/ shift dresses are perfect for me. (I buy in the sale).

I can't do skater dresses. I have a short body, they hit me at the wrong point & make my hips look massive

PacificDogwod · 07/02/2017 18:39

7forAllMankind and JBrand jeans are good for big bum/hips+small waist combo IMO - just the right amount of stretch, high waisted and well cut.

PacificDogwod · 07/02/2017 18:40

Oh, meant to add, BrandAlley have them on discount all the time for between £70 and £90 - still a lot of money, but better than £200+ Hmm

LiefieLiefie · 07/02/2017 19:11

If anyone is looking for a v flattering and warm coat, I am obsessed with this from Zara. Think they also have it in black and navy.

Only puffa I tried on that didn't make me look like a Michelin man. Standard Zara tiny sizing though. I'm a small-ish 12 and need a large.

Nellyphants · 07/02/2017 19:23

Pacific how do I know my j brand size? Is it my natural waist size?

PacificDogwod · 07/02/2017 19:26

Nelly, yes, that's what I went for.
Tbh I bought 2 in 2 different sizes and kept them both Grin - one a bit tighter for going out, the other a bit comfier for everyday.

Nellyphants · 07/02/2017 20:04

Thanks Pacific I've been tempted. I'll give them a go

PhyllisWig · 08/02/2017 04:56

Does anyone have an hourglass shape, short waist/body and podgy lower tummy (think enormous baby followed by c section plus lard)?

I find pencil skirts out due to tummy as well as quite a lot of trousers but anything which skims the area doesn't come in at the waist. I have the typical hourglass fits hips/gapes on waist issue. And I'm short.

I find it v hard to get stuff which fits comfortably. Like others I suit smart better than casual and loathe boxy tops. I would love a plain fitted fine knit v neck navy or red jumper but have been really struggling to find at a reasonable price point.

Weebleswobbles · 08/02/2017 06:22

Phyllis - I was just looking at this reduced in John Lewis - not the colours you want but is this the style you mean?
