Where can I get a super-pale foundation?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any foundations that are suitable for really pale skin? I have the palest skin, yet any foundation always looks too yellow on me I've tried Dior just before Christmas, and the lady put some on me which looked okay, but I don't know if she packed me the wrong one or something because it now looks really orange after a while now! I've also tried Benefit, but their palest one didn't match either! I have a Mac one coming on Saturday, but in case that doesn't work, what would you recommend?

Max Factor
Bourjois
L'Oreal
The Body Shop (can't remember the brand name)
Maybelline

And a few others, all in the palest shade, but they're always too dark!! Any suggestions?

Note: I set with a translucent powder, so that shouldn't affect it, right?

Have you tried NYX? I'm using their Ivory and it's good and cheap too.
Also, are you applying with your fingers? I kept turning orange and read that applying with fingers can oxidise the foundation and that can impact the colour. I don't know how true that science is (!) but I've started using a sponge and have seen a definite improvement

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation might be worth a go. The no 1 Fair was too pale for me to use (and I consider myself on the pale side!)

I went into boots a few days ago and they used a little device to colour match me with one of their No7 range. I'm very pale too (with vitiligo) and find getting a foundation that doesn't make me look muddy a challenge. The one they matched me to is quite a good texture, medium coverage and blends nicely. They also sold me the coordinating under eye concealer and it's fab.

Kanebo was good for me in my work in city, daylight only seen through windows days...

I don't know if it's specifically a foundation that you're after but Estée Lauder do a tinted moisturiser - Daywear - that is just one shade that then adapts itself to your own skin tone. It's a clay colour out of the tube but gives a gorgeous 'airbrushed' look when on, really natural and a lovely finish

Missha BB cream is excellent.

I use boots no7 in their palest of pale shade - I'm ginger and really white skin and love it. They do a range of different types of foundation too. Highly recommend

Try these:Charlotte Tilbury 1 fair, Nars all day luminous in Siberia, Estee Launder 1C0 in Shell or 1N1 in Ivory Nude. Another foundation for us pale gals is illamasqua in Skin Base 2. If your Dior foundation turned orange on you then its oxides and theres nothing you can do. It just means that that particular foundation isn't for you.

Illamasqua, Body Shop, Mac and Face Atelier all make lighten adjustment drops. The Body Shops lightning drops are only £10 if I remember correctly. As long as you have a foundation that is the correct tone (cool, warm or neutral) then you can lighten it up to match your skin shade.

MAC do a pure white foundation which is useful to mix with others to get your right shade.

I suspect if things look yellow on then you're probably more pink/cool tones

I've just got Mac studio fix in NW10 and it's really good for me. Cool toned so not yellow but not obviously pink either. It's the best match I've found for a while in proper foundation though Clinique bb cream and Laura mercier tinted moisturisers in the palest shades are fine. I'm pretty pasty. The number one thing make up counter people say to me is "oo, that warms you up nicely". So it's too dark then?!

Foundation should never warm us pale and interesting ones, only blusher should do that.

Am super duper pale (much lighter than any of the main brand offerings ), so much so that my undertone is almost blue white, rather than pink or yellow.

My faves are as follows:
Ultra Cream foundation by Kryolan in Deathly Flesh
L'Oreal Infallible foundation in Alabaster
Rimmel Stay Fresh in Porcelain (lighter than other Rimmel foundations, weirdly)
Lily Lolo mineral foundation in China Doll
NYX Stay Matte Not Flat liquid foundation in Alabaster

Budget options:
Golden Rose gel stick foundation in the lightest shade (on eBay - £7ish).
Dermacol in 208 (NOT 207 - 208 is lighter weirdly) for FULL coverage and a perfect finish. Again eBay and £7ish

For concealer, try Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly. Holy grail stuff for me as it has a completely neutral undertone and high pigmentation.

Bobbi Brown in Alabaster may work.

I am super pale and use Boots No7 BB cream in 'fair' with a bit of L'Oreal pressed powder on top (rose vanille).

I know re the "warming up", makes me run a mile! Missha perfect cover is looking interesting....

Missha Perfect Cover will probably work for you. I've worn it and Lily Lolo Porcelain /China Doll. Here are some pale foundations swatched on my skin - you can see how other foundations relate to Bourjois and Revlon.

I second Boots no7 intelligent colour foundation. Very fair not fair version.
I went into boots and did that snappy machine that takes a picture of skin and the lightest one it suggested still looked like I'd been on sun bed. But the make up lady recommend this and its amazing covers but no lines!

Lancômes lightest shade is awesome for me and I'm the palest person I know!

I currently use doublewear cool bone but I'm going to try ivory nude as sometimes I feel the cool bone is too dark. I did the no 7 machine thingy and the woman said she wouldn't sell me any as there were none she thought were light enough! My problem is I also need the coverage and I have oily skin so my requirements list is long!
Urban decay have a really pale one that I tried and liked but it just doesn't have the same staying power of doublewear.
