Thread 3

Thread 4

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1,2, 3, and 4 are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer to previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one or to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly either.

Thank you Hollin

EnidButton · 01/02/2017 01:07

Haven't watched CH's blog but I've noticed before how rough she is with her face!

AuroraPolaris · 01/02/2017 08:15

Dulci what would you prefer to do in Amsterdam? Shopping (for what?), snooping around, walking, cafe? Do you also like design and furniture etc?

Bo the travel set looks very interesting but personally I wouldn't be able to use most products, I think.

I think if got a minor version of the bug Angry^^ but will go through with our party tonight. Any advice for doing back of thighs? This seems the trickiest Confused

wiltingfast · 01/02/2017 08:24

Just marking place on new thread, don't want to lose sight of you guys! Grin

Pupsiecola · 01/02/2017 08:56

My skin has never looked so good. And I have never spent so little on it. That. Is. All.

FizzyBubbly · 01/02/2017 10:19

That's skincare goals right there Pupsie!

No haven't used the colorphlex yet Enid, I only wash my hair once a week so it will be at the weekend. Is yours still looking and feeling good?

Bo and Aurora my reminder to zap bikini line and armpits has just pinged so will be doing that tonight. You both still on for tonight?

AuroraPolaris · 01/02/2017 10:55

Pupsie that's so so good to hear! Well done!!!

Yes Fizzy we are on!!!

bo just received my Manyo eye cream plus a few little sachet samples (and a lovely brochure in... well, Korean Grin) including the galactomites essence. You are welcome to have it if you like!

Pupsiecola · 01/02/2017 11:48

Thank you. Thanks to all the brilliant advice on these threads. All my products are working for me, with the exception of the Face Theory Retinol. I'm sure it makes me red for a day or two after use and I instinctively want to use it less. Should I persist?

botemp · 01/02/2017 14:19

Well done, Pupsie! That's quite an accolade especially considering how hesitant you were, in the beginning, to trust that cheaper/affordable products would deliver the same or better than the more expensive brands. If the FT Retinol isn't agreeing with you I wouldn't persist with it, instincts are there for a reason.

Yes, I'm on for tonight too provided I don't keel over and fall asleep instead! I read the entire booklet for bedtime reading and according to that, I should be done in about 22 mins (bottom legs, bikini + armpits) Hmm. Have to remember to take some before pics too (for my own archives, don't expect me to share my hairy bits with you lot). Have been scrubbing and dry brushing like mad over the last few days just need to do the shaving bit tonight that I've been dreading... Also, need to get my white eyeliner since the beige one I have is indeed too creamy.

Haven't seen the vlog either but I think CH is pretty harsh and aggressive with her face (and subsequently her product recs and heavy acid use pushing are characterised by that) since she's got pretty much indestructible skin. A lot of the acid toners she recommends for twice daily use like Pixi really only seem to be there to enhance ingredient penetration rather than as stand alone exfoliators. The fact that she never properly distinguishes between the two types makes it very confusing if her site wasn't confusing enough to begin with it for the average noob.

Those waiting on their forms, don't worry I've done my homework Grin. Will give it the once over first as I tend to lose sight of grammar in the long form and will post them all later tonight this is not an invitation to flood with me with more forms.

Have a look, it's on her site and if you fast forward she shows a couple of routines. Interested whether it's just me! She shows p50 in one of them

Pupsiecola · 01/02/2017 16:10

Thanks bo. I wonder if it's worth trying a different retinol, or should I just accept that I should go without?

I'm looking for a hair styling product now lol. I want something smoothing/moisturising for when I dry my hair straight (as opposed to leave it wavy). I don't need volume. I don't like anything claggy. I'm thinking some sort of creme? Just really to add some extra moisture on those pesky dry ends. Anyone got any suggestions, please?

botemp · 01/02/2017 16:29

You've been using redermic for a while haven't you?

I was thinking about products that I used to use and then for whatever reason stopped the other day. In this case it was becoming a student and parents no longer footing my bills for anything nonessential. But I remember using the Sebastian Potion9 cream. It used to work a treat for me and is a good heat protector too, Googled it with low porosity hair and apparently it's brilliant (which I had sort of already deduced from the INCI) for that so have been contemplating getting it again. Used to be a bit of a cult product under hairdressers I think.

yongnian · 01/02/2017 17:18

Ah Sebastian potion9 bo had forgotten all about that - used to love it! They still make it then? Hmm might get some for old times sake!!

Skinfulnappies46 · 01/02/2017 17:25

Great post yong and very detailed help for anyone with rosacea. Unsure whether my redness is rosacea. No bumps or spits just redness which is always there slightly under nose and can get very red and swollen and my nose actually swells and feels like it is pulsating if I get very stressed anxious or sometimes in a very hot room or if I have eaten spicy food, but not always.
GP appointment next week but not having high hopes after saltys experience.

botemp · 01/02/2017 17:54

Yeah, they still make it, it's so old it doesn't even contain silicones Grin. Seems they've improved the packaging into airless pumps I remember those metal tubes were a pain so much improved I suppose. You can even get baby ones at 50ml, might get that as I remember a little went a very long way. Although thinking about it, I may have stopped using it because every time I would that song 'Love Potion Number Nine' would be stuck in my head on a loop Shock. You're all very welcome btw, enjoy the music Grin

Ok, dinner's done now. Off to prep for Lumea adventures.

lubeybooby have you ever tried any of La Roche Posay, Avene or similar French Pharmacy brands? Are you being/have been treated for the rosacea at all?

AuroraPolaris · 01/02/2017 18:21

I have to put kids in bed first... probably in an hour or so.

AuroraPolaris · 01/02/2017 18:28

Vaz I would start by exfoliating less. I think you are using chemical exfoliants too often. Use only once a day in the PM after cleansing, max three times a week and do not combine with other actives in the same routine. See how that works. Will have to look at the strengths of what you are using to advise further. But maybe bo will get to you before that.

That Melvita spray irritated my skin, sadly, as it smells totally amazing. Try to put that aside for a week or so just to make sure..

AuroraPolaris · 01/02/2017 18:29

Skinful good luck with the GP!!

lubeybooby · 01/02/2017 18:47

botemp

I had no idea rosacea treatment was a thing when no acne is involved, I've only just realised that's what my problem is too after years thinking it was just dry/sensitive

Never tried those mentioned :)

lubeybooby · 01/02/2017 19:17

thanks for the advice btw. I am clueless

shall I try this? one of the reviews mentions itchiness and seems to have worked for them www.boots.com/la-roche-posay-rosaliac-ar-intense-40ml-10136813

Dulcimena · 01/02/2017 19:27

Thanks for the Brussels and Amsterdam suggestions. Not really after anything specific, just interested in nice things I can't get here really. Inspired by the leather goods chat on another thread. You know when you go somewhere and then when you get back people say "oh did you go to x or check out y" - just being a bit proactive really :)

botemp · 01/02/2017 19:29

Hang on, lubeybooby, I'm just going to copy + paste my responses to the other forms now and then I'll tackle yours. Was asking whether or not you've been down the usual path of rosacea product lines.
