Now autocorrect is giving me the rage!
RAGE not eager FFS and cry OFF although tbf cry of worked quite well...

herbaceous · 03/02/2017 12:56

Now I'm feeling the rage, having remembered that we've hosted them for lunch many, many times, but they have never had us. We might be invited for a bbq along with lots of others, but are never granted the honour of being exclusive lunch guests. This pisses DP off also. But I'm not sure he's up to the emotional challenge of this particular confrontation at the moment!

Blackduck · 03/02/2017 13:08

oh Herbs feeling the rage for you..... this kind of thing makes me very cross... (yes looking at you sil/bil....)

Rosebag · 03/02/2017 13:43

Gosh Herbs...well, I wouldn't want to go. I mean, anyone who can't cope with an extra two for lunch...I mean what's that all about? mildly judgey I know Don't want to cook, so buy it from Cook! or Tesco or something. I've had friends like this...they make arrangements and then you get messages subsequently ..."Little Jemima has a play date, little Tarquin wants something else...blah blah " so everyone else has to fit in with an arrangement that no one wants or likes. But similar to you I have friends like this who are sweet in other ways so I put up with the flakiness.... Hmm

Thanks for booking Hatty I am looking forward... Smile

Crem was it a masseur or masseuse?? Shock

Good luck today WAF I'm so happy things seems to be on the up...work wise. But also sad about your DH. Flowers

MrsS he sounds like such a dick, honesty. BTW we have tix for the next Hampstead theatre production on a Monday night when I think there are still tickets available . Most weekend have sold out. Do you want to join us? Anyone else? It's the one with Emilia Fox.

I have just had my telephone feedback which was a lot more positive than the draft written feedback, so I have told her to change a few things....as they really did read badly. Interesting how some people are good verbal communicators and rubbish written ones. I might sleep tonight...

MrsWobble3 · 03/02/2017 13:50

I share your rage Herbs. It makes you start questioning old friendships in a way I'd rather not. Dh is going through similar - following a prolonged email/text exchange about something with an old friend he ended with a must catch up properly - what's a good date for you message. His friend replied saying he had no plans to come to London any time soon. Dh was quite upset -he had hoped he might be worth seeing without needing another reason to justify the journey -all the way from Surrey. They have been friends for decades - but's been rather spoilt now. Hopefully the friendship will recover but I don't think dh is inclined to make any more effort - it will have to come from his friend.

herbaceous · 03/02/2017 13:56

Rose - that was just it. A kind of 'visit-creep'. If it had been sold to us as muddy yomp plus oddly timed dinner somewhere weird, we'd have said 'no ta' straight away. But now they'll be affronted that we don't find it that appealing. They have a hardcore set of adoring friends who don't seem to mind being mucked about, so take it rather for granted that people will just fall into line.

Anyroad up, I don't want to ask DP to change it all and put him in an awkward position, so will just go along with it. This time...

Mrs W - I'm not surprised your DH is upset. That's shitty of his friend. We're going all the way to Surrey for this 'fun' afternoon!

CointreauVersial · 03/02/2017 14:03

Herbs - BIL is a bit like that. He's an excellent cook (very cheffy), but we often turn up for lunch at 12.30pm, then after half an hour or so he says "maybe I should sort out some lunch", and he's gone for three hours.

Boo. My assistant has just resigned. Sad She applied for a job before Christmas, back when she was still working for Colleague I Can't Stand, and it has come in. She promises it isn't me! At least I now have the "headcount" so can recruit someone new, but she's a smart cookie and we got on well, so I'm sorry to lose her.

On the other hand, I just earned a few points by fixing the Chairman's mobile phone, after numerous people had been tinkering unsuccessfully with settings and whatnot to try and sort the sound issues. Turned out he'd stuck the screen protector over the microphone. Grin

motherinferior · 03/02/2017 14:11

Herbs, we had that slightly on the Legoland Experience with BIL etc some years ago (regular readers will remember me sending HELP messages). BIL had invited swathes of rellies which sort of made sense as a number - including his family - were only in the UK but it was all a bit much as they started appearing in the course of the day and I flatly refused to go off for dinner at 4.30.

Cremolafoam · 03/02/2017 16:03

Masseuse Rose, a Berber Crepey, and honestly it was fine, if slightly unexpected. They are very into nudity at the hammams , so flabby white lady bosoms were probably not too surprising. It was v brief tbh.
We are up on a cafe roof having carrot juice and almond sweets.

herbaceous · 03/02/2017 16:05

I'd love a job as your assistant, CV. Shame you're so far away!

motherinferior · 03/02/2017 16:59

I've sent off revamped job application. Rather fabulously it's actually now even better than it was before, since the organisation turns out to specialise in the area for which I produced a magazine for three years: the Difficult Client aka CDiff suddenly becomes a terrific asset.

Go me. I will be quite cross if I don't get an interview!

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2017 17:16

Herbs, you are just Too Nice. But I think I would probably end up doing the same until it happened one time too many

CV, I Grin at your mobile phone mending - that's the sort of thing that happens in our house!

Cremo, that blue sky looks fab. Especially as the weather is grey and wet outside here. And I am so glad you have decided to pack in that bloody job - life is definitely too short!

MrsS, sounds good - looking forward to it (have yet to tell DH....)

CointreauVersial · 03/02/2017 17:22

Herbs - any time!! Actually, sad though it is that she's going, it's probably good for future harmony. Even though she doesn't report to Colleague I Can't Stand any more, we are all in the same room, and I can sense that friction is never far away. And CICS's team will side with him if it kicks off again....

Actually, I will defintely have to re-brand CICS, because we have worked through a lot of our difficulties over the last few weeks. Colleague Who Will Continue To Irritate Me Hugely On Occasion, But Is Fundamentally Decent? Colleague Who Interferes And Nitpicks And Is Always Right But Is Just Trying To Do His Job??

Anyway, indeed, go MI! Fingers crossed they recognise your amazingness.

Colleague On The Spectrum, CV?

I reckon we've sold a right pup with this 'get a fulfilling career' bullshit. I'm yearning for a nice simple job, stacking shelves or sweeping the streets or something, where I don't have to reflect on my practice or demonstrate learning. The shelves are stacked, aren't they? The gutter is rubbish-free? Right. Shove off.

CointreauVersial · 03/02/2017 19:14

Ha ha, indeed, Herbs. Something very soothing about that idea. For about five minutes, until you realise you are a badly paid automaton.

My job's pretty simple actually. Lots of organising, fixing and doing, multiple short-term goals, nothing particularly strategic. Being a small company there are no inconveniences like performance appraisals. Suits me, anyway.

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 03/02/2017 19:21

And can I just express my joy about my shiny new frying pan? Such a simple, inexpensive thing is making me very happy right now, and I'm wondering why I struggled on for so long with the old one. It has actual non-stick properties! Food doesn't have to be chiselled off it!

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 03/02/2017 19:22

I'm so lowbrow, me. Blush

GiddyGiddyGoat · 03/02/2017 19:25

A good frying pan is a valuable thing CV, Enjoy.

herbaceous · 03/02/2017 19:36

I am often enraged by having to chisel my omelette from my pan, CV, so feel your pleasure.

A job full of short term goals and no appraisals would suit me just dandy.

Cremolafoam · 03/02/2017 21:32

Right on to thatWineHerbs. Although I do think that maybe that's what has got me into my current job situation.(no long term strategy, just repaint the office, halve the staff and stick a new name on the door)

Love a frying pan me. Need one right now to bang dh's head with. He just got us lost in the medina, in the dark, without a map. Storming forth , he was, with me running to keep up. Furiously, sanctimoniously RIGHT wrong about the direction. I asked a drug dealer nice lad on a corner and had us back on track. Hah!Grin
Packing now boo! Dh ->Angry

motherinferior · 03/02/2017 21:58

The bliss of a slidey frying-pan is indeed great.

I have to say I like work. Always been better suited to it than parenting.

Rosebag · 03/02/2017 22:32

Grin Crem

Here, here Herbs. Not only have my teaching skills or lack of
them been subject to rigorous bollocks testing. They have also been followed by a goodly range of targets and areas to address..... I would in fact, love to work in a dress shop. Truly I would. Especially black tie and red carpet dresses.

A non stick frying pan is a thing of great ergonomic beauty CV.

I am again flopped in bed, but don't have to be up bright and early tomorrow. DH is going to Twickenham from late morning onwards. DD has college and then a birthday party. The DC and I have resolved that after that we are going to see LaLa Land. Smile

Lalsy · 04/02/2017 00:15

I have a Lidl ceramic frying pan that brings much joy with its slidiness.

hattymattie · 04/02/2017 07:15

Happy Birthday - Mrs S - I sent you a PM about the restaurant - I'm just a little unsure about which bit to book, never having been before. I'll be off radar now until tomorrow probably. My journey looks bad - No RER A and engineering the other side increasing journey time by 75 mins!

Lalsy · 04/02/2017 08:06

Happy birthday, MrsS GinWineFlowers. May your frying pans be slidey and your bosses sent to Trumpland.
