Yellow trousers - stylish or abomination?

I can't decide. I'm seeing them through the lens of The Sartorialist. With a fitted grey or navy blouse or sweater and brogues. But am I mad?

yellow wide-leg trousers

You're mad. Sorry but they are positively evil.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:17

Dammit.

It is because it's M&S? Grin

I have a subtle (?) pair of yellow cigarette trousers and I wear them with a white shirt or a pale grey top. Not navy in my view. Brogues, yes, or white plimsoles.

NotTodaySatan · 15/01/2017 00:18

You should totally buy them OP.

So you can burn them and prevent anyone else from wearing them.

Philoslothy · 15/01/2017 00:19

Are these yellow?

PurpleDaisies · 15/01/2017 00:19

Oh they're awful. Sorry. The cheap looking metal ring on the belt is almost as bad as the colour.

IHeartKingThistle · 15/01/2017 00:20

They're awesome. I might have to order them myself.

IHeartKingThistle · 15/01/2017 00:21

That wasn't sarcastic!

FurryLittleTwerp · 15/01/2017 00:21

Yellow does nothing for me, so I'd never buy them.

I like the shape though but the yellow colour is awful

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:22

I'm wearing my favourite green high-waisted wide-legged yins (these ones, bought a couple of years ago) but they're a bit too big so I'm looking for a replacement.

Vicky B has got some on in Daily Fail. Looks bloody ridiculous the length is trailing along the floor the hem must be back by time she takes em off.

Sorry I digress - no don't like em

Empress13 · 15/01/2017 00:23

Black not back

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:28

I've never had anything yellow but I'm being adventurous with clothes since I lost weight. You can get away with a lot more at a size 10 than a 22 - that might not be true for everyone but I didn't have the confidence before.

Now I've had the brainwave of looking for my green trousers one size down on eBay.

The shape of the yellow creation is good isn't it, Furry. They come in navy too, I was just looking for something a little more interesting as the rest of my trousers are black, grey, navy and blue denim.

They look too big and baggy on the M&S model, but I like the Sartorialist picture. So if they were really well fitted I'd say yes. They'd be an abomination on me though Grin

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:36

High waisted wide leg trousers are stylish. You just need a heel and a fitted top.

Does My Bum Look 40 is wearing them in this recent blog post - she looks quite good in them.

You have to be confident, though. They are very "hey, look at me".

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 15/01/2017 00:43

I don't believe for a second that Bum really buys/wears even two percent of the stuff she claims to like from M&S. Cynical, me?

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:45

Aha! Thank you for that, Cointreau. She had the same reservations as me. But she does look good. That might be the leetle push I needed to order them. I was looking at the green ones she tried on, too.

Remus! Angry

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:46

You can be cynical about anything but my trousers.

Grey wool is always the way to go for wide leg trousers, in my book. Look lovely.

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 15/01/2017 00:50

Yes grey wool is good, that's an option too. But I want them swishy rather than stiff. I'm back-pedalling on the ochre/yellow ones now.

They're the Ind of thing my confident, slim friend could easily wear and look fabulous whilst of look like an overstuffed lemon. Order and try them on, knowing you can always return them. You won't know til they're on you

MrDacresEUSubsidy · 15/01/2017 07:52

I love them but they wouldn't suit me because I am short and chubby. I agree that slimmer figures can definitely carry more adventurous clothing.

Think the trick to these will be to make sure you get the shoes right - you'll need a heel to get the most out of the leg lengthening effect - and to make sure that the top is plain and fitted. That way it should look very chic rather than what you threw together because it was clean Grin
