Non-granny nightie, also not lacy and short

You know how you can wear fancy silk pyjamas, not feel like an old granny, maybe even feel a bit glamorous, but put a dressing gown on, go downstairs and have a cup of tea with your FIL without feeling embarrassed?

I want that but with a nightie if that makes sense! Not grandmas flannelette nightie and not sex kitten lace down to your waist and really short. I want a long nightie but not slit up to the hip. I want it to be nice but not twee, sexy but not revealing.

Is this possible? I have a cotton cyberjammies one from John Lewis but it's a bit floral. I'm quite busty so most with a seam directly under the bra line don't work as boobs too big and with no bra that's a recipe for disaster Grin

Ideas welcomed!

I have a couple, from when I was breastfeeding, but about knee length.

Something like this?

Baukjen - reasonable value for money in the sale.

I just got this and LOVE it.
It is very soft, hits above the knee (I'm 5'6''), offers enough v gentle support to my boobs that I don't feel totally unfettered Grin, gorgeous v dark navy colour. What's not to like?

I bought a white cotton one with a black trim from Miliarosa before I went into hospital for an op, because I didn't have anything suitable. I love it. It's elegant and decent, but it was a while ago so not sure if they would still have the same one in stock. It's long, with three buttons at the top, and a black bias binding on the neckline and hem.

Oh thanks - the sleeveless M & S is nice. The Baukjen one is quite nice, but my bust would 'go rogue' -I'd love wide ribbon width straps and longer for the 'FIL' test. I'd like a bit of nice long swishiness and cap sleeves

Thing is I hate pyjamas and can't sleep in long sleeves

Yes, I can see that it would fail the FIL test Grin

I despair at finding simple nighties, not flowery, not lacy, with a bit of support, made of cotton.

I'll lurk quietly and see what else others might come up with Smile

PacificDogwod · 07/01/2017 23:33

Land's End? - also comes in a longer length

Girlwhowearsglasses · 07/01/2017 23:41

Lands end way too granny. Detailing, ribbons, even lace would all be fine- it's a fine line!

What about an indian cotton dress ?

LockedOutOfMN · 07/01/2017 23:48

Can you buy Oysho, or women'secret where you are? Or Hunkemöller? They're all cheap brands you can buy in Spain (HM is Dutch but they have shops here). Oysho is the most likely to have what you want. Good luck, OP!

PacificDogwod · 07/01/2017 23:49

Sorry, Land's End again Grin

Now I am obsessing over nighties!

Mamatallica · 07/01/2017 23:52

TKMaxx had some nice ones last time I was in but it's a bit hit and miss in there, they could have none or only awful ones another time. Worth a look though maybe?

LockedOutOfMN · 08/01/2017 00:23

This or this or this ?

albertcampionscat · 08/01/2017 00:32

May I hijack the tread? Have you lovely people come across one with long sleeves? I can't sleep without them.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 08/01/2017 00:34

lockedout nice but too short and no long sleeves

Locked out - those are perfect. Thanks!

lyricaldancer · 08/01/2017 01:27

The FIL test? Grin I think you have this all wrong. He's not going to see the nightdress is he? So it's really all about the dressing gown, or housecoat if you're a fan of those.

lyricaldancer · 08/01/2017 01:28

Ooh good links, Lockedout. I like Oysho

Bitlessbahhumbug · 08/01/2017 02:08

White Company?

FIL test putting me all of them though!
