Yet More Fantastic Skincare and Where To Find It

Thread 1

Thread 2

Thread 3

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether thread 1,2, and 3 are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

This January we're doing some added extra chitchat about food and diet and reducing or eliminating sugar for both overall and skin health. Recipe sharing encouraged.

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

If you want help, please do read through the previous threads first. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one or to two people a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly either.

Bo I think some ppl literally apply HA to hair if Deciem sends us our packages we can then proceed to properly experiment with this

hollinhurst84 · 24/01/2017 22:07

Pupsie - mine is v v thick, tight curls and takes hours to straighten Angry

botemp · 24/01/2017 22:08

Deciem actually has some new high tech haircare line, something about dry cleaning and other PR babble. I looked at the INCI and came away cross eyed... but maybe it's really good? Was quite expensive iirc.

Just watched Dr Sam's dry hair video. Didn't realise she is anti oil on the face?!

hollinhurst84 · 24/01/2017 22:11

I googled and I think my hair is 3a

AuroraPolaris · 24/01/2017 22:22

Anti oil on the face!?!?!?!?! Why on earth?!?!

Pupsiecola · 24/01/2017 22:23

That's how it came across? Or did I misinterprete?

AuroraPolaris · 24/01/2017 22:25

Don't know I haven't watched yet. I will tomorrow when I have time.
Off to get my beauty sleep Grin

botemp · 24/01/2017 22:28

I interpreted it as she personally as she's combo/oily but I've never heard her vocally being very pro-oil either. Most derms aren't as they can be wild cards. Moisturisers are safer in that sense and what they'd want if you're on a prescription routine.

  • delurks -

Pupsie I'd be interested to hear how you find the TO azelaic acid. My skin is much calmer now that I've stopped slathering it with mineral oil got a decent routine in place so I'm holding off on introducing anything else for a bit while I settle into the routine, but the azelaic was one of the things I'd noted for future reference as being potentially helpful for rosacea.

cad186 · 24/01/2017 22:32

Mintleaves - I've just started using azelaic acid for rosacea, am easing it in slowly so will let you know how I get on with it! I've only used it twice so far

Pupsiecola · 24/01/2017 22:44

Hi and welcome mint. I shall keep you posted. Cad how have you slotted it into your routine?

botemp · 24/01/2017 22:48

Ok, how come none of you have bothered to inform me about this yet? The White Company has launched a skincare line which they've created with Deciem and The Pool (usually a bit shit on the beauty front though) reckons the balm cleanser is really good but the rest looks promising too. One of you is going to have to sneak in to snap some pics of the INCI though as I can't find them anywhere. Volunteers please? Halo

Pupsiecola · 24/01/2017 23:16

Is it out yet bo? I can sneak in in the next few days if so...

botemp · 24/01/2017 23:22

Yes it launched the 18th, I've found the INCI on a blog now (will link tomorrow). The serum looks very interesting and the oil looks lovely too and the moisturiser doesn't contain silicone as I'd feared it would so basically I want it all. On the whole it contains a lot of fragrant oils and extracts (so no actual fragrance) so I'm rather curious how it smells and if it would be too much to be good for sensitive skin.

EnidButton · 25/01/2017 00:48

I get about 4 emails a week off TWC, never spotted they had a new skincare range out! Shock

Not impressed there's no ingredients list under the products on the actual site. It's so lazy of them.

EnidButton · 25/01/2017 00:49

Although I am interested...especially in the cleansing balm.

EnidButton · 25/01/2017 03:09

Is this the blog you found bo ?www.google.co.uk/amp/s/detailorientedbeauty.com/2017/01/08/new-launch-the-white-company-x-deciem/amp/?client=safari

I'm interested in the cleanser and the eye cream. It all looks decent to me actually but I'm avoiding some of the ingredients in the other products.

Will have to look at it properly tomorrow.

mintmagnummm · 25/01/2017 06:50

Hmmm it's very interesting that low porosity hair doesn't like keratin or coconut as I've found my hair hates both! But wat shamp n cond is good for this hair??

Pupsiecola · 25/01/2017 07:30

mint apparently shea butter, baobab, jojoba, apricot, argan, grapeseed, honey and almond. I found the britishcurlies.co.uk website helpful for info and reviews. Also general advice is don't rub, wrap in a microfiber towel or tee-shurt, don't apply product to hair until it's partially dried, use masks (and use heat for those so a cap and towel), don't rinse with cold water, don't use heavy oil products.

Pupsiecola · 25/01/2017 07:33

"shirt

And avoid protein. The one I have ordered does have protein in, but it had better reviews and other interesting ingredients of interest to the specific low porosity/no protein one from the Shea Moisture range. Ultimately it'll take some trial and error, same as the skincare has.

OpenMindedSceptic · 25/01/2017 08:23

My goodness, I also receive numerous emails which I promptly delete to avoid spending from the WC but had no idea about the skincare. Would love to try the cleansing balm and the moisturiser. Hopefully they will have some tester tubes open in the shop!

mintmagnummm · 25/01/2017 08:25

Thanks pupsie which Shea moisture one is meant to be good for low porosity? Are there any other specific product recs?

Pupsiecola · 25/01/2017 09:04

Have a look upthread mint, or look at that link. Loads of information and the low porosity one is, I think, called "low porosity".
