My tip for comfortable earrings for sleeping in

Hey all,

I bought some stud earrings online t'other day. When I got them, I found the "posts" were quite long and poked into my neck when I was in bed. (I'm lazy and don't like to put in earrings every morning but I think I look unfinished without them)

Well, I just held them firmly and chopped off the ends with nail scissors! Now they are comfy to wear!

Sorry if this is obvious but I'm v pleased with myself!

do you blunt off the ends? i buy childrens studs, as the posts are shorter too

Good idea about blunting them off - do you mean rubbing the ends with sandpaper or something?

And also good idea about children's studs.

Some places you get little silicone 'cottage loaf' type backs: they are great for this.
Not sure it's a good idea to try and snip them off yourself.

I'm in lover with leverback earrings they are so comfy and don't fall out like the hook ones, great for sleeping in.

I wear pandora studs, they don't have massive posts. I would be dubious about the quality of earnings that cut with nail scissors though.

I wear labrets most of the time, mainly as I need titanium and they are a cheap option. I sleep in them, they are comfortable as the backs are flat.

Hmm. I was told you should never sleep in ear-rings as it will eventually elongate the holes because you may pull them when you move your head and the holes will stretch...

I've had my ears pierced for over 20 years, with earrings in for most of that time, but I've seen no signs of that happening so far.

think we are talking about studs, not hoops.

I have worn earrings for 38 years, I only take them out to change them or if they are annoying me in the middle of the night so maybe once or twice a year.
My piercing aren't stretched at all. I thought it was dangly or big hoop earrings that stretched them?

I have worn earrings to sleep in for 35+ years and still have very neat unstretched holes! That has got to be down to wearing heavy earrings, surely?!

I agree OP that some earrings I've bought recently have really long posts-i wonder why?!

I like the look of those labrets though. Presume you can wear them in normal ear holes? They look like something to be worn in other piercings (eyebrows or something?) but suppose there's no reason not to wear them?!

What size posts do you have for those landers? 6mm or 8mm?

I don't think it's unusual to sleep with earrings in really, if you wear studs every day, it does make sense. I always sleep in mine because I have multiple holes in each ear and they always stay where they are (apart from when I change the bottom pair for some danglies, or when I take them out to clean them). I too have noticed long posts recently, the ones that spring to mind were from the z range at accessorise and were really long. I did wonder why.

I have always slept in earrings. I sleep in rings, necklaces and watch, too . Nothing has fallen off yet.
