Extreme self care anyone?

Is anyone familiar with the Cheryl Richardson book 'The Art of Extreme Self Care'?

It's not only about physical self-care but also mental and emotional.

I've been aware of it for years and I suppose I've adapted bits of it to suit my life but I think it's time to ramp things up in 2017.

The book is 99p on Kindle at the moment if you're interested in taking a look.

Anyone want to join me to work through it (at least the bits we find useful?)

The price probably varies, I bought the book on Kindle a little before this thread started because I'd seen it in one of the many FB/email cheap or free Kindle book lists that come out daily!

I haven't read the entire book yet, but the posts about the writing course reminded me of an online Mindfulness course that I signed up for and never really did so have checked that it is still available for me and signed up for a couple of different courses later in the year - on FutureLearn if anyone else is interested (all free).

Have been in decluttering mode this week but will crack on with the book again shortly. Funnily enough I came across another book of hers that I have, Life Makeovers so have put that aside to read again! I think that's a weekly one (although Cheryl Richardson does have a weekly email as well).

How is everyone doing?

I finished the Creative Nonfiction course, it was super stimulating and motivating. I've also started the FutureLearn fiction course. I have a public speaking thing coming up and I pracised the talk with a couple of friends and found that some of the techniques learned on the writing course helped to make my talk a lot more engaging and relatable.

The creative stuff is great, I am having a stressful time at work and writing is a great antidote - the only downside is that I have too little time for much actual writing. Would like to start a writer's journal.

I feared returning to work but the first week was much easier than I expected. I'm trying to take better care of myself - adding vitamins, proteins, exercise, books, rest, sleep; avoiding alcohol and reducing time spent online. The big thing to learn this year is how to activate stress-busting techniques when the going gets tough...

Have been putting off joining in until now. Just gone to download the book and it's a fiver now - drat! That's what procrastination gets me! May stretch to the £5 as have been following the thread and seen so many positive posts.

Remember we had this thread eight months ago?

I've not updated but these thoughts have stayed with me and I've worked on several things.

*My eating habits are much better, more protein &vegs
*I'm drinking much less wine and beer - have found that decaf and herbal teas can be really tasty and great for unwinding
*I've worked really hard on improving my sleep and have been able to cut down sleeping pill use
*I've generally met my exercise goal (70000 steps per week)
*I've taken up daily yoga and it has been great for managing stress and sleep issues
*I've tried to spend more time with family and friends
*I've spent a lot of time on a book manuscript and it is starting to come together

The biggest thing was that I've finally overcame my fear and made the dental appointments I had postponed for years. It took just three appointments and now everything is fixed and I feel really good about it.

Anyone still around? How are you doing?
