Oh Jesus! I have to wear granny shoes!!

I have problems with my feet.

Neuromas, fat pad atrophy, odd flat, broad built, shallow feet with low ankles, a penguin waddle with sticky out feet, hammer toes, bunions and plantar fasciitis.

I have recently had an injection around a nerve and the consultant recommended a particular padded 'sleeve' to wear over the foot to pad the balls/metatarsals of my feet.

They work.

However, the extra padding around the widest part of the feet, means that suddenly, even my beloved DMs are too narrow.

Yesterday, was a screaming nightmare. I had to go to London, come back up to the Midlands and go on to a GCSE Maths class.

I was in agony from my Jules DMs, changed into a pair of trainers and was still having to take off the trainers in class as they were killing me and I couldn't concentrate.

External and internal angles of polygons, if you're interested.

I've got one pair of shoes that don't hurt. A pair of bright red Cosyfeet lace ups. They are the clumpiest shoes you've ever seen. But they don't leave me wondering whether amputation is a reasonable option.

I've just gone online and searched for extra wide shoes for orthotics and felt like crying.

The vast majority were velcro fastening and in the kind of grandma styles that your grandma would not wear.

I had to order another pair of clumpy lace ups and at fucking £73, it was galling.

I'm 48 ffs. Not 98!! Angry [cry] [tantrum] I'd stamp my foot about now but it would hurt too much.

Does anyone have any ideas about relatively 'young', suitable shoes for someone like me?

Please? Sad

I'm sorry Gingernaut, I can't help you with your foot problems but your posts have me crying with laughter and I mean that in the nicest way! Your description of your plastic loafers is hilarious! And when you measured your feet width and said 32cm, I thought "this poor woman. Her feet are a foot wide?" Then I realised you were talking about the circumference Smile Or at least I hope you were?

I do hope you find something suitably stunning but comfy - it must be hell for you.

Another brand you could try are 'think' they are expensive, but they wear well and have removable footbeds. I generally buy used or last years styles from eBay...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/12/2016 00:22

Very excited about Think shoes, they look great! Lots on eBay.

DulliDulli · 12/12/2016 00:42

I'd definitely recommend 'Allegria' shoes.

Hassia do a very wide, plain suede pump with a bit of a heel ( ie not dead flat). They have a removable insole to make room for orthotics. They are usually described as a ballet pump, but the name is misleading because of the heel and the fact that they come further up the foot.

25cm circumference 'naked', and 32 with the gel bandage, toe sleeves and socks.

I've got three pairs on order and I'm collecting a pair of Cosyfeet from the Sorting Office later today.

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll bear them in mind when I next have to buy some.

I don't like shoe shopping anyway but this is awful. Envy

Sorry you're having a rough time OP. This must be awful.

I'm so sorry but your photo of your tassle loafers had me cracking up. Your shoes are laughing at each other. The metal on the tassels look to me like eyes and the shoe openings are mouths. Can no one else see this? no my baby won't sleep whatofit

Gingernaut · 12/12/2016 01:59

I thought you might be hallucinating (lack of sleep and all that), so I went back and had a look.

You know what? Yeah. Massive guffaws as they look at eack other. Knowing they're just about to be bought. Hmm

Hope you get some sleep tonight, NeedATrim, I'm off now. Wink

Arf @ guffaw. Haven't heard that word in a while.
They're not that bad, I like them honestly. Keep going in your search, OP. Flowers
