Oh Jesus! I have to wear granny shoes!!

I have problems with my feet.

Neuromas, fat pad atrophy, odd flat, broad built, shallow feet with low ankles, a penguin waddle with sticky out feet, hammer toes, bunions and plantar fasciitis.

I have recently had an injection around a nerve and the consultant recommended a particular padded 'sleeve' to wear over the foot to pad the balls/metatarsals of my feet.

They work.

However, the extra padding around the widest part of the feet, means that suddenly, even my beloved DMs are too narrow.

Yesterday, was a screaming nightmare. I had to go to London, come back up to the Midlands and go on to a GCSE Maths class.

I was in agony from my Jules DMs, changed into a pair of trainers and was still having to take off the trainers in class as they were killing me and I couldn't concentrate.

External and internal angles of polygons, if you're interested.

I've got one pair of shoes that don't hurt. A pair of bright red Cosyfeet lace ups. They are the clumpiest shoes you've ever seen. But they don't leave me wondering whether amputation is a reasonable option.

I've just gone online and searched for extra wide shoes for orthotics and felt like crying.

The vast majority were velcro fastening and in the kind of grandma styles that your grandma would not wear.

I had to order another pair of clumpy lace ups and at fucking £73, it was galling.

I'm 48 ffs. Not 98!! Angry [cry] [tantrum] I'd stamp my foot about now but it would hurt too much.

Does anyone have any ideas about relatively 'young', suitable shoes for someone like me?

Please? Sad

Gabor width fittings are their own. There's no comparison chart.

I'll see what they've got in Debenhams.

Ted and Muffy Wide aren't wide enough.

I've just been in Tiger and as surreptitiously as I could measured the widest point.

32cm.

Ted and Muffy don't go up that far.

5EEEEEE. Confused Shock My Lord! I thought I had it bad.

I'm not looking for heels. I just need a low to mid heel, not ballet flats, not more than 3/4 inch high and suitable for every day wear.

Branleuse - Just because they look big and clumpy, doesn’t mean they're wide inside.

70s style platform soles? Nein, danke.

I'm going to Debenhams to check their Gabor stock and then home. I finished a night shift at 8am this morning and it's awfully busy in here.

I have these Caravelle shoes - they are extra wide with a small heel and with a velcro fastening that I don't think looks too grim

Debenhams Merry Hill don't sell Gabor.

Evans have three pairs of 4EEE.

Navy plastic loafers which rise too high on the ankle, the same in black and a pair of black ballet flats which have heels which are too low.

And the smell of plastic is dire. Sad

I used to wonder at vagrants that had cardboard and plastic bags wrapped round their feet looking like Lowry paintings.

Not any more.

I'll give up for today.

I'm knackered.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 10/12/2016 15:32

I don't blame you. More than 3 hours in Merry Hell is a lifetime.

queenofthebucket · 10/12/2016 15:46

Debenhams will order Gabor for you Ginger that's what i had to do.
I don't have wide feet but I quite like Gabor shoes and mine are narrow.
On another topic can I ask about your GCSE maths? I'm 50 and Im trying to study for it myself, we could exchange / solve problems if you're interested.
Im on polygons as well but I'm trying to teach myself.

Gingernaut · 10/12/2016 15:56

I'm not doing well.

They're evening classes which start about 2 hours before I normally wake up.

I'm falling behind and there's a mock exam on Tuesday.

It's the new 9-1 syllabus, too. 9 = A*, apparently.

There's House of Fraser in Wolvo - I can try on and order Gabor and they can be delivered there.

I was only here for the Hotters.

Yours has boots, ankle boots, some leopard print stiletto shoots and the same grim plastic loafers as Simply Be.

And the lingering stink of cheap plastic.

I have those caravelle shoes in red, they're really comfy and wide!

Gingernaut · 10/12/2016 17:08

Too low. Flat ballet pumps aggravate the plantar fasciitis.

I am not having that injection again. Shock

Thanks for looking, though.

Oh yeah, I know that pain! I'll keep looking...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/12/2016 17:11

Are boots no good?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/12/2016 17:14

Not EEE but they are really wide as I've tried them on.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/12/2016 17:22

I really like these but they are clumpy but in a deliberate way, iykwim?

Charles Clinkard online shop has a big range of wide fit including Gabor and Reiker. Free delivery.

LumelaMme · 10/12/2016 17:49

A poster upthread recommended this website www.widerfitshoes.co.uk

I use it for DD who has odd mutant feet inherited from the in-laws very wide, deep feet. They inevitably look a bit clunky, owing to the clunkiness of the feet inside, but some of the styles I'd consider wearing (though I'm not exactly Ms Bang On Trend).

I have feet like yours so literally feel your pain. My feet are like hobbits feet Grin My friend gave them one look and said that I'd be better off chucking away the shoes and wearing the shoe boxes! She's not wrong. They are as wide as they are long Shock Good luck op, comfy wide fit shoes that have at least a smidge of style are like rocking horse poo Smile

Gingernaut · 10/12/2016 19:24

I had the Unloop for a couple of years but they became painful and now with the wraps and orthotics are now too small.

The second pair only go as wide as an E fitting. Clarks EE were too small.

Yes. I've ordered shoes from Wider Fit and Fifty Plus. I've just come home to a "While you were out" card. I can pick them up Monday morning.

Thanks for all your help. I've got stuff coming and a pair of Skechers to be getting along with.

Hobbits feet Grin

Do you have to shave your toes as well?

Sticky plasters are just torture. Shock

Josef Siebel sometimes works quite well for my wide feet, although they can look a bit clumpy. Would something like this work? www.josefseibelandfriends.co.uk/product.aspx?gender=womens&type=Casual%20Shoes&model=Neele%2016

I've also got a pair of lace-up UGG boots which work really well when my feet are more swollen.
