Do you pluck your own eyebrows and maintain your own fanjo?

I do, always have, but sick of looking for stray hairs every day.

Is it worth having them done professionally?

Ditto with fanjo, never had a wax. Should I?

It does look mighty strange.

But felt oh SO soft,

...and a little bit kinky

satine · 16/02/2007 15:21

anniemac - is that true about people with curly hair? I get such awful ingrowing hairs and itchy bumps after bikini waxes that I don't bother any more. I mean what's the point if you look good for one week, and then like an angry, badly plucked chicken for 3?

And I have v curly hair. Oh well.

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2007 15:25

I have my eyebrows threaded every 6 weeks or so (have a little go with tweezers inbetween for any strays). I find it much more comfortable than waxing (and I get my eyelashes tinted at the same time as they are so pale). I have a standard bikini wax done regularly through spring and summer, but tend to just us the cream in the winter. I bought some fab gel when I was in America that you use after waxing/shaving/cream etc which is really soothing, and stops any itching or ingrown hairs.

pointydog · 16/02/2007 15:28

yers. both

I wouldn't go so far as to say 'maintain' though.

pointydog · 16/02/2007 15:28

threaded?

twinsetandpearls · 16/02/2007 15:52

I ahve thought about going tot he salon for a brazillian or whatever the term is but try and imagine myself in some fo the undignified position necessary to wax the hair off and it leaves me in need of a stiff drink.

twinsetandpearls · 16/02/2007 15:54

I don't think brazillians have reached the fylde coast yet, I just know thatif I asked for one the girl behind the counter woudl call me a dirty bitch who is old enough to know better and then give my ample girthage a look up and down in that " who is she kidding" kind of way that ninteen year olds with perky tits and a perma tan can do.

motherinferior · 16/02/2007 15:55

My fanjo seems very happy left to itself, frankly.

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2007 16:05

Threading is when they roll up a piece of thread and somehow use it to pluck the hairs out, really quickly and relatively painlessly.

expatinscotland · 16/02/2007 16:06

It's called TendSkin, ComeOVeneer, and you can get it here, online.

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2007 16:07

It is better described here

ComeOVeneer · 16/02/2007 16:08

Oh fab, thanks expat as I am running out.

Rantum · 16/02/2007 16:10

Fanjo - Bikini line - myself - and only when I might actually wear a bikini (not too frequently then)

Eyebrows - both. Waxing is worth it if you have the time and money - but that's IMO because I have Norman Lamont (remember him?) brows if left to their own devices.

expatinscotland · 16/02/2007 16:11

Do you have a Harvey Nichol's, COV? They sell it in there, too.

It's the biz, I agree!

Steppy1 · 16/02/2007 16:12

you lot must be the mums on this thread !! ...come on own up

paulaplumpbottom · 16/02/2007 16:29

Nope I see a proffesional for both. Every two weeks. I wouldn't trust myself to do either.

satine · 18/02/2007 17:15

Does TendSkin actually work? Has anyone who has problems with ingrowing hairs and bumpy skin tried it?

QueenEagle · 18/02/2007 17:20

eyebrows get waxed probably once a year, can't be bothered to keep it up.
Fanjo - neatly maintained/trimmed triangle out the front but I like a bald undercarriage.

Lazylou · 18/02/2007 17:45

I get my eyebrows done about once a month, and then tend to pluck out the stray bits for about 2 weeks, giving my eyebrows two weeks to grow into caterpillars again.

As for fanjo maintenance, I wouldn't know where to start, what to do or what to use so as you can imagine, its a bit all over the place down there

IntergalacticWalrus · 18/02/2007 17:53

eyebrows-have a go when I remeber (probably about twice a year)

fanjo-erm, never. Cant be arsed to do it myself, and can't face showing my maryjane to somebody other than DP.

Blandmum · 18/02/2007 17:54

I have both as nature intended.

Cant be arse/can't cope with the pain.

Do shave my pits and legs

JoolsToo · 18/02/2007 18:05

Pluck my own eyebrows don't bother with the other.

northerner · 18/02/2007 18:07

All you folk who don't partake in mingetopiary are you just not v hairy? Cause if I left mine I would be able to plait it.....

OP posts:
Blandmum · 18/02/2007 18:12

I have no hair other than on the mons and backwards IYSWIM, none spilling outside my knickers or swimsuit. It stops about 2 cm below my caesarian scar. It growns about 1.5 2 inches before it drops out and is quite light.

I'm not possessed of an exceesivly hairy minge, and my granmother had no pubic hair at all.

I can't quite believe I have posted this to a public board. I'm blaming the wine!

IntergalacticWalrus · 18/02/2007 18:21

Fanjo topiary is the least of my worries.

It's the rest of my minging self that need the attention
