How often do you wash your hair?

Apologies if there's already a thread about this previously but I'm intrigued to find out how often others wash their hair?!

I used to wash mine at least once a day, sometimes twice! But have trained my hair now to every 3-4 days. I do have a shower every single day though! Grin

I must find uses for only wash...with the tears of a virgin.

ChipIn · 29/11/2016 22:11

Wyldfyre yes! Thanks for enlightening me Smile
I wash once a week (very thick hair which is up all the time so I don't really touch it that much). Used to get itchy around day 4 but have recently switched shampoos and it no longer does. New one is SLS free but I never realised that was the reason.

lesleylogan89 · 29/11/2016 22:20

3/4 days normally

ChickenVindaloo2 · 29/11/2016 22:26

Yes, Paxillin, you have 24hrs to get in your first use!

PinkSwimGoggles · 29/11/2016 22:28

every day it gets wet/rinsed in the shower. shampoo every 2-3 days depending on the condition.

eurochick · 29/11/2016 22:44

Every other day. I'd like to do it every day ideally as it looks better freshly washed but drying it just takes so long (shoulder length) and I struggle to get out of the house on time as it is.

IrenetheQuaint · 29/11/2016 22:48

Once a week, unless it's really hot or I've been swimming/engaged in some form of vigorous exercise.

Once every 5 days would probably be optimum, but I can never be arsed to do it before work so it waits for the weekend.

DramaAlpaca · 29/11/2016 22:51

I wash it every morning when I'm in the shower. My hair is so fine it looks flat and messy if I don't, and it's short so it dries really quickly.

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/11/2016 22:51

Every morning - it's a short blunt bob with a tricky fringe, and I look utterly deranged after I've slept on it. Drying it takes five minutes with my Parlux, and I''m in the shower anyway.

Pigsbum · 29/11/2016 22:52

Buckejit did it take long for you to go from every day to every few days with ginger shampoo? I have to wash mine every day or it's horribly greasy by lunchtime and would LOVE to stretch it to every other day or even longer (dreams)

Candlelight123 · 29/11/2016 22:55

When it's long it can last 4 days, now it back to short 2 days max. It's a mystery Why it won't last 4 days when it's shorter.

Jaimx86 · 29/11/2016 22:56

4-5 days. For three days I can wear my hair down, but then I have to wear my hair up after that until I wash it again.

PickAChew · 29/11/2016 22:59

4-5 times a week. Just washed it this evening for the first time since Sunday morning and the relief is immense. It smelt rank and looked so dull.

TerriB84 · 29/11/2016 23:13

Once a week here at the most, sometimes longer. But I have mixed race/Afro hair which is notoriously very dry and any more often leaves it a dry fuzzy mess! Since I discovered sulfate free shampoo I'm actually able to wash it more often than I used to!

Norky1975 · 30/11/2016 07:53

Every day. It seems someone comes into my room during the night and backcombs it for me.

pklme · 30/11/2016 08:09

I'm one of the tears of a virgin folk... But if OP wanted to know about no poo I think she'd have asked! I'm once a week. Still working on finding the right combination, but I have lots of people at the ready to tell me if I get skanky, honest!

Sparkesx · 30/11/2016 08:10

Bold:paxillin I totally agree, I was half expecting people to be absolutely repulsed I don't wash my hair too often!! Grin

About twice a week but sometimes less sometimes more.

Strangely I've discovered corn flour instead of dry shampoo and it's great. Does require some brushing in but great volume and shine without grease

BusterGonad · 01/12/2016 07:30

Once a week for me and I begrudge doing it that often! It's thick, course and just past the shoulder. I've been known to go 2 weeks and no one could believe it! Grin

Cineraria · 01/12/2016 07:44

One a week in theory. Often goes two weeks. Ten days would be ideal but I don't remember midweek. It's uncut, past hip length and the hair nearer my hairline is quite curly while the crown hair is only slightly wavy, so I can't wear it loose as it would look a mess and I just don't find it gets dirty unless it's down. I think it's because I'm not brushing the oil down the lengths like I would if I kept it loose.

BusterGonad · 01/12/2016 07:55

I don't brush my hair as its wavy and thick and will end up frizzy and horrible. I only need to wash it because my scalp gets itchy.

jennymac · 01/12/2016 08:55

I have really fine hair although fortunately have plenty of it so it doesn't look too bad. Because of this I used to wash it every day as I always thought it looked greasy the second day. In the past 6 months though it seems to have got less greasy and I now just wash every other day and it looks fine. I wonder if it is an age thing?

Eliza22 · 01/12/2016 09:03

Daily. But it doesn't need styling/drying.

mrsmortis · 01/12/2016 10:28

A couple of times a week. With reliance on dry shampoo for the last day before washing. Generally timed around trips to the swimming pool as I have to wash it then to be sure I've got all the chlorine out.

crayfish · 01/12/2016 10:36

Three times a week. Its a short bob though which requires some styling to avoid looking mumsy so I spritz it with water and give it a zoosh with the hairdryer every day.
