Please help with my shit hair

I have shit hair. There is no other word to describe it - it has always been a bit shit anyway but since having children it is doubly shit. It is very fine, frizzy, fluffy, and I have odd bits of regrowth everywhere that is wavy and sticks out whereas the very top layer is straight and floats up on its own. It looks a bit like in the picture (this isn't me btw! )

I need some miracle product that I can put on my hair and just leave to dry naturally. Please someone tell me that such a thing exists? Can anybody help?

Olaplex treatment, possibly a relaxing treatment?

Have you considered having the chop?

John Frieda six effects serum is good. My hair is wavy and I use it to either blow dry straight or air dry wavy.

Ojon damage reverse oil. Has changed my life.

Your life will be transformed.

Frizz is just a curl waiting to happen.

In summary, avoid SLS/silicone in your hair products, wash as little as possible, NEVER let a hairbrush near your hair.

Thanks all, I will have a google of these later. The thing is my hair isn't actually damaged - I've spent about two years keeping it fairly short and growing the colour/damage out and have finally got it just past shoulder length and in good condition. It's more the actual shape and light-weightness of my hair.

Pacific - I tried the curly girl method for a while, say for about three months. I had really good results at first but then I found i started getting build up at the back of my hair that felt really stringy and sticky. So I started using a sulphate free shampoo once a week which helped at first but then I started getting the build up every time, so I just started using SLS free shampoo instead. Maybe I need to go back and try it again with different products

How are you drying your hair? Do you still have the problem with frizz when blow dried properly?

I pretty much always let it dry naturally. I only own a very basic travel hair dryer and wouldn't know where to start with drying it properly maybe that's the problem

Nettle oil?
Boots cheap-as-chips curl cream? I find that quite light and not so much curl-making as frizz-reducing.

Have you tried putting your almost dry hair in plaits overnight? Or using a diffuser to dry?

Or - like me - are you guilty of fiddling with your hair constantly? That certainly creates a lot of frizz for me...

Get yourself the babyliss hot brush, can't remember the name. It takes a bit of getting used to but it works a treat. I have hair like yours and combined with styling treatments and this brush my hair has been transformed.

Oh, or chop it all off - a short pixie cut has solved all my problems as I just put product in and it makes it's own waves/curls and sits unless I fiddle

Pacific what sulphate free products do you use? I'm glad you posted that method as I hadn't heard of it.

Try a hairdryer with a nozzle and a big round brush. Make sure the nozzle is always pointing down the hair as this will smooth the cuticle

I've also discovered keratin shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray - so use the shampoo and conditioner, then a miniscule amount of coconut oil, then the spray, then heat spray, then blast your hair with the hairdryer until it's 90% dry, then use the BBH - and wonder at the swishyness of your hair

I do t understand the babyliss big hair love, I think it's awful! You need a good quality bristle round brush and a strong hairdryer!

Maud, I use Bodyshop Rainforest shampoo and conditioner.
And I'm using up some products I own that I suppose are not strictly CG method approved...

Nancy - you have to blast your hair with a hairdryer until it's almost dry first (for some reason air drying doesn't work) and then you have to use it on sections of your hair. I think it also works better on thick, frizzy/wave hair. I've tried using a hairdryer and good brush, but find it much more of a faff and don't get the smoothness that I do with the BBH.

I'm onto my 4th one in however many years - it's the one beauty product I could not live without.

My hairdresser is always going on about sulphates but I was paying no heed

I'd whack on elastisiser extreme for an hour or so under a shower cap, then after washing I'd put a good load of L'Oréal extraordinary oil, concentrating on the lengths and ends (but with a bit on the roots). I have similar hair to yours except shorter and this really does help. And honestly, you could skip the elastisizer, I think the oil does most of it.

Do you want it curly or straight?
A decent pair of straighteners solve all frizz issues.

Coconut oil, leave on as long as possible.
Wash out then put John Frieda frizz ends just on the ends.
Ready to go!

I blow dry as straight as I can, then section and straighten with irons. I also love Elvive Extraordinary Oil. Smooth on to towel dried hair before drying. I have thick wavy hair and find I just have to put the work in to make it behave.

Curly girl is not for everyone. I look like I have an enormous head with curls .

Phillip Kingsley Elastisiser as a treatment. Applied to dry hair and then I leave it on overnight wrapped in a shower cap. I do this once a week.

Secondly, I apply Moroccanoil serum to my hair once I've dried it. My hair LOVES the stuff. I have tried going back to the cheaper products but can't bear it now as the Moroccanoil is so much better and worth every penny.

I have completely transformed my long, coarse, thick unruly hair by following the above routine.
