Can someone advise me on some super warm winter/snow boots please?!

I don't live anywhere particularly snowy (I'm in the north-west) but do have terrible circulation (reynaulds) and always have cold hands and feet. I am really tempted to ask my DH for these for Christmas but am wary now I've seen reviews about how heavy they are. I'd want to wear them for much outdoor messing about with the dc and some walking when it's just small child paced and I get cold.

Anything made from leather with a fur lining. Not necesarily real fur, but furry with a bit of room so you can wear thick socks. There are quitr a few fur lined biker boots this year. I think Boden have some.

Kurt Geiger has their Richmond ones in the sale and Ugg make the Gradin ones which are also in the Kurt Geiger sale. Either would be a great present although I prefer the Richmond.

I have the Sorel Caribous and they're really REALLY warm and they look great with skinny jeans but they are big and they are quite heavy. I wear them for snowy dog walks or town trips or if I'm going to something where we'll be standing around in really cold weather, but we go skiing every year and that's what I really got them for. I really like them, despite the weight they are very comfortable, they couldn't be much warmer (my feet feel the cold but they're almost too warm to wear in all but the coldest weather) and I think they look great on - but I am a fan of hiking boots! One thing I would mention is that they're really difficult/almost impossible to drive in as they're so broad it's hard not to press two pedals at once.

They are also super warm, comfortable and very grippy, they're very good for winter dog walking etc., not just in snow.

They are super warm and not heavy.... I do live in Canada though. But I don't generally have a problem with being cold, so they should be fine.

Layers! Aim to have at least a thin pair of socks (preferably cotton) next to your feet and a thick additional layer. The air gets trapped between the layers and warms up.

Make sure the sole is furry or fleecy

I have 3 pairs of Sorel Joan of Arcs, in different colours. I LOVE those boots, although they aren't great on ice. I wear yak trax on them when the snow has frozen over.

I have northface winter boots. Bridgeton maybe? They're a tall boot with a quilted inner. Look reasonable enough, and lovely and warm - I have nerve damage in my feet so feel the cold.

I don't have those but I recommend Merrill Decora Chant. With a pair of hiking socks inside, my Raynauds never kicks in.

Haha, I only clicked on to say Sorel as well! About seven years ago we had some really cold winters in Sweden with temps at around -15 to -20 for weeks, and I heard favourable things about Sorel then.

Sorels are great and look lovely but are heavy for all-day wear.

On a tip from a Danish friend, I use sheepskin insoles inside lighter winter boots and they are warm and snug on all but the very coldest of days. Big advantage is you can swap them around to several different pairs. I bought mine in Coornhagen so I don't have a link but I'm sure they exist online somewhere.

Thanks guys, I'm going to go and look up your suggestions now. They're a lot of money so I don't want to get the wrong ones. I normally wear walking boots with normal socks and then a pair of big thermal socks too. I still often have very cold feet, but also don't want to limit wearing them to only the most freezing days. I'm intending to wear them for all family walking. We went sledging in the Lakes last weekend and in my thin socks/thermal socks/wellies my feet were really cold! (But also sledging is a very occasional weeked activity I guess)

Dublin do some good boots too - these might work?

Also, I haven't used them personally, but someone on a skiing forum recommended these gloves for cold weather. The same company seem to do socks too.

Ok, here you go. Please excuse the state of them, we've had a lot of rain in Devon and I do multiple muddy dog walks most days!

They're both size 6.5 and both fit perfectly, I'm usually a standard size 6 so up a half size in both.

Are the Sorel boots good in icy conditions- another dog walker who has almost gone on my ear these last few days.

was going to recommend these or the Sorel- made my feet too warm!.. the merrells are a bit lighter in weight than the Sorel

also fluffy insoles - you can pick up a basic pair in Tesco etc next to the shoepolish...am sure there are better but definitely noticed the extra insulation in my normal walking shoes...

They're not exactly snow boots but Dublin River Boots are outstanding. So warm and waterproof.

Gaelforce yes they are, I've worn them around several snowy ski resorts and on winter dog walks and not fallen (yet!). Have to say though that the NF Chilkats have fantastic grip too.

I can't figure out how to link from my phone but have a look at Ugg Simmens boots. I got a pair and they're soo warm. Also have Raynauds and my feet are toasty with the wool lining.

You don't have to wear super heavy extra mega boots if you switch to wool socks. Think thin wool socks first and an extra pair of thick wool socks after if it's cold. Make sure there's room for air in the boots, because air insulates and you have to be able to wiggle your toes a bit. Buy good quality wool socks with as much wool as you can, ideally 90% or so (100% wears out quite fast). Do NOT buy acrylic. Synthetics do NOT hold the warmth the way wool does.

Combine them wool socks now with sheep skin lined boots - aaaahhhhhh.

Also, wellies are just rubber with no insulation, so I'm not surprised if you're cold. When your feet sweat there's nowhere for the condensation to go so you get quite chilled. Unless you wear drum roll WOOL SOCKS because wool is warm even when it's wet - marvellous stuff

I have Landsend snow boots - they're quite old but are still going strong.

Where does everyone buy Sorels from? We're skiing in January and have had snow here twice already this year so I think they would get some wear.
