Unusual but inexpensive candles - any recommendations?

I want to try some more candles as we're getting into winter. Ideally I'm not looking to spend more than a tenner per candle.
A lot of places do vanilla but that's a bit boring. I've got a cardamom and cedar one from Dunelm which is nice, I'll try and link it. Any suggestions?

Have a nose around TK Maxx. They've usually got a decent selection.

Is it only scented ones you're after?

I found some unusual ones here. I like the pyro pets ones- I may be alone in this!

St Eval are amazing. A tealight fills a whole room with such wonderful fragrance. The Christmas orange and cinnamon is amazing. They do spring flowers which smell divine

Have you looked at yankee candles? You can get the small jars for under a tenner and last about 30-40 hours burn time.

I LOVE their samplers as you can get loads to try out (to discover your favourite) and they last about 8 hours.

Am slightly obsessed with their pine scented ones like christmas garland and pinecone and lime, they smell like chrimbo trees!

St evil for me too, they smell amazing and they have them in really nice containers too!

Another vote for yankee candles here. They aren't the cheapest but you can get great bargains on eBay for them

Muji - currently using a 'Log fire' scented one.

I ordered some from House of BlueBelle as presents for friends. Lovely scents, good value (£5 for a tinned candle) and I have that warm glow from supporting a small business :)

I really rate the Zara Home scented candles, as good if not better than the expensive designer ones and fill up a room beautifully. The smaller basic ones come in just under a tenner. They usually do 40% off everything on Black Friday or Cyber Monday (sorry can't remember which day anymore). Think there's a few of the more premium ones (it's just the type of scents and container that's different) in the mid season sale currently too.

Muji have unusual scents.

We've got spiced apple ones from Home Bargain. £2.99 for large jar ones. They last ages & smell gorgeous. They also do mulled wine & gingerbread scented ones.

M&s ones can be good. I've got a fabulous rhubarb one

Potters crouch do gorgeous candles - Festive Spice is lovely at this time of year.

MUJI or Lily Flame are my favourites. I love White Company winter but they aren't cheap.

The large pillar Yankee candles last up to 140 hours and they can be reduced from their usual £20 price. Temptation gifts have some of them for £14 at the moment. I love wild fig and turquoise skies and true rose. I have turquoise skies burning at the moment and it is really nice. I do find with some Yankees though that the throw is very poor. Not so with turquoise skies.

St Eval are fabulous candles. Proper unchemical scents and they actually burn evenly all the way to the base so get many hours of burn time. £8.99 and a lovely present.

Nb, to achieve evenness of burn you must let the heat build enough to melt the whole surface of the wax so it hardens again flat. Cheap candles just burn a dip in the middle and have to be discarded before they are all gone.

I recently bought a £7 or £8 Gingerbread one from Next (my DD persuaded me) and I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice smell, not overpowering but you can definitely smell it in the room. Am going to try some more from them, very good value as they seem to last well!
