Are these shoes just too frumpy?

I'm 31. Prefer wearing heels if possible but they need to be comfy as although I work in an office I spend a lot of time walking about.

Tried flat loafer style but they just didn't work for me at all.

A friend told me about Hotter shoes and I've ordered a pair which are super comfortable and would go with loads of outfits (I wear a lot of blue/burgundy/purple dresses). I realise they're not super stylish high fashion, obviously. But would you say they are:

a) run of the mill office shoes, which will go with lots of things
b) frumpy old lady

I'm going for a), obviously! Thanks in advance!

these are the shoes, in navy

Just wear them. Nobody is going to say "oi frumpy, shit shoes you've got there" are they. Unless you work in a really unpleasant office. How they look on will surely depend on the entire outfit.

pklme · 18/11/2016 07:06

Fly London do brilliant rubbery wedge shoes that look great but are so comfy... I have them in different styles and many colours because they are the only ones I find comfortable.

80sWaistcoat · 18/11/2016 07:14

Those hotter boots look fine actually, that someone linked to up thread.

And for the shoes they are just shoes. Flat comfy flattering shoes are really difficult to find, so frankly they are inoffensive.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Do you really need to ask?

BTW, don't believe anybody who says that people don't notice shoes. They do. There's a woman who gets the same train as me who always wears hideous, frumpy footwear. One day I will come straight out and say, "why, why, why would you willingly make your feet look so ugly? Why?"

BusterGonad · 18/11/2016 14:30

Nettle I always look at shoes, but I admit it's hard to find comfort and style but I'll never chose comfort if the shoe in question was utterly hideous. Eurgh....Cornish pasty shoes will never be welcome on my feet!

rookiemere · 18/11/2016 14:34

I'm really sorry as I like to have comfy feet as well, but I have to say b.
I wear flats or trainers in, then change into a reasonably stylish pair of Clarks black patent semi-high heels. I wouldn't tramp the streets with them, but they aren't uncomfortable.

Would it be possible to do that and change into a slightly more stylish less comfortable pair when you get in?

rookiemere · 18/11/2016 14:37

Ye gads, now my sidebar is covered in hideousness from Hotter.

If you're going comfy, go flat and comfy. IMHO ballet shoes from say Gabor or Hotter look a lot better than anything with heels which are all a bit grannyish.

Ratonastick · 18/11/2016 15:26

Confession time. Deep breath.... I have those shoes!

I wear them for about 3 weeks a year when I have days of meetings that require me to run round the City between 5-6 meetings per day. I can speed walk all day in them without a second thought. They are incredibly comfortable, perfect for the job and I would buy another pair for the same reason in a second.

They are also fuck ugly and I hate the sight of my own feet in them. They look like granny shoes and have to go back in the cupboard the minute I am able to tear them off my feet!

DubiousCredentials · 18/11/2016 16:16

Well I for one don't generally look at people's shoes. Least of all in a work environment.

BusterGonad · 18/11/2016 16:19

If they work for you then go for it. Who cares what a stranger thinks anyway? Needs must and all....

PickAChew · 18/11/2016 16:24

Nettlei frequently look at women's footwear and wonder why they would willingly wear shoes that aren't even foot shaped, day after day.

RosemaryLouise · 18/11/2016 16:44

At 31 they are way to frumpy for you. Go round the shoe shops pressing the insole of shoes to see how many have decent padding so your feet stay comfortable.

Petal02 · 18/11/2016 18:04

I wear flats/shoes I can walk in for commuting and walking out at lunch time, and then wear shoes that look good when I'm in the office. This gives me the best of both worlds!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 18/11/2016 18:10

They look like the sort of shoes Theresa May would wear. When she's hobnobbiing at summits and the like.

Petal02 · 18/11/2016 18:11

PS - if I have to be remotely mobile in heels, then I choose either boots, or shoes with a wide/block heel and some sort of ankle strap so that they stay on my feet.

Bars and restaurants are a different matter, style will always eclipse comfort!

Petal02 · 18/11/2016 18:12

Theresa May was spotted in kitten heels recently! Angela Merkel however wears very sensible shoes.

newlark · 18/11/2016 18:15

A - inoffensive & I wouldn't really notice them (not known for being glamorous myself and am a decade older than you though)

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 18/11/2016 18:22

I'm 32 and they look totally practical to me. Although I personally wouldn't wear them. I'm very untrendy and don't work in a office though.

There are a couple of pairs of boots in hotter that I'm in love with though. Thankfully for my bank balance they don't come in wide fit! Grin

Revealall · 18/11/2016 18:33

Since when have court shoes been anything other than dull and frumpy anyway? Doesn't matter who makes them.
Paint the heels, stick some of the kids plastic figures on top and then call them Irregular Choice.

Redcrayons · 18/11/2016 18:36

These shoes have been following me round the Internet since I first clicked your link. For that Reason alone I'm saying no.

BrioLover · 18/11/2016 18:40

B

I'm 32 and would never wear those. They are awful (sorry!).

camtt · 18/11/2016 18:42

I would wear them, yes a Granny could wear them but it depends how you dress with them. I think they would just not be especially noticed. I have these ones

www.hotter.com/gb/en/womens/womens-shoes/monica-heels?fit=Standard+Fit&colour=Chocolate

yes I know they will seem super frumpy to some but I am just pleased that they are shoes with a bit of a heel and without a strap that I am able to wear. Having difficult feet sometimes you just have to go with the least worst option unfortunately. I'd be upset if I thought people were wondering how come I wore such frumpy shoes, although if they asked I'd show them my bendy feet and see if they could summon some sympathy instead

TSSDNCOP · 18/11/2016 18:43

They look like shoes Her Majesty would wear.
