Are these shoes just too frumpy?

I'm 31. Prefer wearing heels if possible but they need to be comfy as although I work in an office I spend a lot of time walking about.

Tried flat loafer style but they just didn't work for me at all.

A friend told me about Hotter shoes and I've ordered a pair which are super comfortable and would go with loads of outfits (I wear a lot of blue/burgundy/purple dresses). I realise they're not super stylish high fashion, obviously. But would you say they are:

a) run of the mill office shoes, which will go with lots of things
b) frumpy old lady

I'm going for a), obviously! Thanks in advance!

these are the shoes, in navy

I have similar shoes from Hotter, but mine are black patent (also have a black suede pair) and the heel is different and a little higher. I got mine in TK Maxx for £25. They look fine - boring office shoes, but fine and unremarkable. I also have the Fly London high wedges, which are really comfortable.

Sleep I'm sure the day will come when I'll be wearing my Hotter shoes, and I shall wear them with pride and I did not say the shoes were frumpy, the OP did, I did not say the shoes were ugly, I said I didn't like ugly shoes. I was just saying about the shoes I find comfy, nothing more nothing less.

Oh and what are Mum shoes? I've heard of Mum boots!

specialsubject · 20/11/2016 14:48

Bit high but look fine. Much better than the fugly staggerers so many wear.

You won't be clumping along with your arse out and a scowl on your face, and you won't have twisted feet. Oh, and they don't hurt.

No man wears shoes that hurt. ....

Purplebluebird · 20/11/2016 14:50

B :P I don't like them at all.

museumum · 20/11/2016 14:57

TBH I think comfortable court shoes will always be awful as they're so clearly a compromise.

I only wear comfortable shoes but go for brogues, loafers or flat pointed Mary Janes or ankle boots with a cowboy boot heel.

Heels I have for weddings and the like are vintage 1920s style.

Why wear shoes that hurt your feet and possibly cause long term damage to your joints?
So other people don't think you are "frumpy" ?
Fuck that.
The questions you have to answer are:
Are they comfy and could I wear them all day?
Are they suitable for the task I want them for?
Are they the right colour?
Do they have my size?

Petal02 · 20/11/2016 16:13

museummum could you post a link, showing the sort of 1920s heels you would wear to a wedding - I'm always looking for inspiration!

My colleague and I have osteoporosis and arthritis. She has been a,slave to fashion, I have always worn low heels and comfortable shoes - not too frumpy imo. R&B, Ferragamo, Stuart Weitzman, LK Bennett, etc. For work which involves a bit of country walking nowadays I wear Clarks, Gabor, M&S, a Hotter Brogue. In the summer I have some Hotter sandals, my friend some wedges and gladiator sandals. Guess who -approaching 60 has nice, straight, feet. I know what I think looks awful and frumpy.
