Velvet?

Anyone embracing the velvet trend at the moment?

I love the feel and look of velvet (know that it's vile to some people)

Think I want a pair of velvet cropped trews but they're just making me think of a costume I wore for a school play c. 1989.

Used to wear velvet granny jackets from charity shops in the 90s so not sure will be returning to that look this time around.

Wore a velvet black skinny top form Urban Outfitters last night. So, yes!

BusterGonad · 06/11/2016 07:43

Quite a few years back I saw a lovely dress made of dark purple velvet with silver sparkles on, sounds gross but it wasn't! I've always regretted not buying it and every year when the party dresses come out I always look for something similar so I say velvet is a YES

I bought a fig coloured velvet dress from Dorothy Perkins last weekend, wore it this week and loved it. Their velvet loafers are cute, too, in burgundy and black. I love velvet, have been eyeing up a velvet cami from River Island this week too.

margaritasbythesea · 06/11/2016 07:46

I like the idea of it but haven't seen anything I like yet.

Cosmicglitterghoul · 06/11/2016 07:53

I love velvet. I wore my blue velvet leggings yesterday and red velvet skirt this week. I have several velvet dresses and jackets, love it all. I haven't seen anything for this year yet. X

Ooh a velvet cami sounds lovely.

I like the velvet t-shirts that are about too - Toast has some which are ££ but beautiful colours

Yes, I'm very tempted by the Toast skirts, but as you say £££.
Still they look very lovely and so so the shift dresses.

Tempted on a Sunday morning.....will I survive?

missjoanie · 06/11/2016 08:25

Another velvet fan here - bought some black velvet Joni jeans from Topshop last weekend. They're lovely!

YvaineStormhold · 06/11/2016 08:26

My navy velvet jacket from Boden arrived yesterday.

It's lovely, but I'm yet to decide what it will look best with.

lifeissweet · 06/11/2016 08:28

Can you wear velvet if you are...on the fat and dumpy side? Or does it have the same effect at shiny material that makes all the lumps look worse?

Velvet culottes here. Maybe you need to be tall.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 06/11/2016 08:45

I'm currently considering splashing some birthday money on this:

Love that Reiss top. The UO culottes would look terrible on me, what with the drawstring waist.

These awe type velvet cropped trews I think I like, but haven't tried them in RL. From Marks

Lifeissweet yes I reckon not the most flattering fabric but fuck it 😀

Twenty plus years ago, I bought a £££ velvet scarf and justified it on the logic that I would never be too old or too fat for it. And now I am a senior citizen, it's still sumptuous.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 06/11/2016 10:01

WhooooAmI24601 is it the pinny dress? What is the sizing like please?

I bought a black velvet sweatshirt from Topshop which I am very pleased with.

RebelandaStunner · 06/11/2016 13:32

Not bought anything yet, need to investigate further as I love velvet.

BeaLola · 06/11/2016 15:45

Love velvet. A, looking for a green velvet top or shirt - not emerald green but a more muted shade - any thoughts ?

WhooooAmI24601 · 06/11/2016 16:09

AllPizzas The sizing is pretty generous; I bought a 14 because I've got broad hips and shoulders (usually a 12) but could easily have gotten away with a 12. Really comfortable to wear, too, and the fabric isn't too thick and stiff.

danTDM · 06/11/2016 16:26

I've got a midnight blue velvet dress from Ghost. I bought it 20 years ago and have got it out for a posh do this week! Very pleased it'll do. Looks lovely Smile

Pestilence13610 · 06/11/2016 16:37

it is velvet I love it, it is toooo expensive and too baggy. Sad but now I have seen it...
