Best opaques that don't cost the earth

I have been spoiled by Falke as their 100den come in multiple sizes, cover everything, and never fall down.
But they are beyond pricey (I could get shoes or a t-shirt for that price). EBay has a few colours regularly (purple, dark charcoal, and a brown called Brenda!). I have managed to get one black pair on there.
Any others that come close? I think I tried M&S and they aren't as thick plus they don't quite fit (not as many sizes). Boden are rubbish. So basically is any other brand... Any thoughts?

Oops it was the Amazon Romartex and so far so good - they fit and no gap. We'll see if they last washing!

I hope they last for you Smile I love these at this price, what colours did you get? I had the blue on yesterday which is more royal blue than navy so made a nice change.

New Look for me. I came across them many years ago and never looked back. Perfect coverage and xl is the right length too. I am quite tall so buying tights is never easy.

Wolford velvet de luxe are pretty indestructible which lessens the pain of the hefty price.

I also rate M&S autograph opaque tights.

I also love Falke.

I reckon they last 10 times longer than tights that are 10% of the cost, so it works out OK in the end.

And so much more comfortable to wear.

Never ever ever buy the Next ultimate comfort tights. They need a belt to keep them up

Agree with Grumpy re Falke. I had a pair that I wore regularly for about 6 years. They were still perfect - only got rid of them after I snagged them on a nail sticking out of a pub table.

I hate hate hate Primark tights.

I've tried oodles, and the cheapest in the long run, by 100 miles are Wolford. Honestly. Or Falke, they're good too. But for me Wolford's win. Particularly the velvet de luxe 66.

I know they're expensive but seriously they are so cheap in the long run.

I bought some New Look opaques yesterday. They are fab, so comfy and silky without being shiny. I am 5' 2 and I got a medium they fit perfectly.

I love Sainsburys opaques.

ScattyHattie · 29/10/2016 01:19

I've had some nice tights from sainsburys but bought the 200 denier velvet opaques recently and was happy with fit/look till i noticed there was a snagged thread sticking out on both legs (no idea how as not caught on anything) and they'd bobbled on feet/thighs yet i'd only worn them a couple of hours, so didn't think were very good value at £8 a pair.

Giving those tesco velvet touch 140D a go next, they were at least cheaper at £4.

Walford tights are brilliant. Yes, they are expensive, but they last for years.

Calzodonia - not cheapest but not as expensive as falke but great quality. I bought some wool with cashmere blend tights recently that were £10 each.

I have some nice burgundy ones that I got from M&Co recently. I am 5'6'' and no hoiking them up to the crotch (is that what's known as thigh gap?).

When I win the lottery the first things I plan to treat myself to are Wolford tights and Diptyque candles.

Primark 100 denier tights are absolutely fantastic.

So hate tights without proper shaped heels in them, so effectively a tube. T. This always creates like a bubble in them when they are put on again. The bubble often ends up at the fron t of your foot and looks shit.

Which ones actually have a proper heel? This is why l don't ever wear tights.

Report
eurochick · 30/10/2016 09:49

I wear m and s autograph opaques. I've never had the heel bubble issue with any tights.
