Converses with tights?

I like wearing shortish dresses with tights in Autumn/Winter but now struggling with footwear. Boots from last year look a bit bulky so wondering about wearing my Converses just not quite sure....

I do it. I don't have Converse but other high tops. Depends on the dress of course, but generally it's a yes from me!

It's a no from me. Unless they're all-black Converse, in which case I still wouldn't, but I don't think they look too bad on others.

Yes, totally fine OP. I wear dresses, pencil skirts and minis with hi-tops often. I'm 36, in case it makes a difference

I also wear boots with all of the above, and love the contrast of feminine dress / skirt with bulky boots

I was thinking of doing just this for winter, but am reconsidering after reading the Lady in the Van comment, as that would be me (aged 52).

This is my signature autumn and winter look except in snow or torrential rain. I am 37. I think it looks great and suits everyone. Will try to find some pinterest pics to share.

Same here. Its possible to look perfectly fine and presentable while wearing boots and skirts, trainers and skirts, hi tops and skirts etc. Not at all 'Lady in the Van'-esque

I don't have Converse but wear black leather Stan Smiths and black suede Gazelles with tights and skirts/dresses.

So what footwear should one wear? I saw a lady in a nice blue and yellow printed frock today. Thick shiny cotton type fabric with a bold print, fit and flare a bit but she had it with "thin" black tights and brown suede boots which didn't work but I find myself asking what would?
