Thinking of ditching under eye concealer

Because I've decided it looks even worse than the dark circles. My main problem is tear gouges troughs and sadly, fillers isn't an option.
I've tried every concealer known to man over the years and it still looks like I'm trying to polish a turd. Unsuccessfully.

Does anyone else not bother with concealer?

I bought some Bobbi Brown products the other day and the lady used their concealer on me and made me promise to go back when I could afford it and I def will. It was a lovely peachy colour and looked really good on.

I still use concealer, but have found that my dark circles (also tear trough related) have improved quite a bit since I started taking a multi vit with iron. I could probably get away without concealer now...

What issue are you having with it poppy? Does it crease or look cakey? Or are you having trouble finding a good match.

I don't always wear it, but when I do I bake the undereye and it stops it from creasing.

I don't wear concealer, as it 'settles' and looks cakey. I was talked into buying an expensive one the other week and while it looked good from a distance, it looked awful closeup. Cakey, powdery, creased. That said, it was in a large department store and EVERY SA I saw was wearing make up that arrived in the room a minute before they did. Expertly applied but to someone who wants to look 'like me, but less haggard' it was unsettling. Lots of powdery faces and creasing, so maybe that's the norm?

I think part of the problem is people following tutorials or advice given on YouTube/Instagram, which turns out to look great on screen, but not in real life.

I've done the same! I find most under-eye concealed look great indoors but awful in natural light, so I wear it if I'm going out in the evening, but in the daytime I go without.

Same approach as Sammysquiz, except I use a little illuminator in the day e.g. YSL Touch Eclat (but cheap version!) Hate my dark circles and puffiness but becoming less bothered about them nowadays.

Aaarrgh - sorry!

I went the fillers route (Restylane). I also have depressions, it's genetic (even my 5-year-old, with his cute round cheeks, has underege depressions). No concealer can disguise that, but there are some eye creams that contain hylauraonic acid, which plump the skin somewhat.

I use bare minerals stroke of light- it's a bit like YSL and doesn't cake at all.

I find just keeping the area moisturised helps massively. Quite often the concealer dries out the skin.
If I do use a concealer I use a shade darker than the one I use for the rest of my face, as the skin is naturally darker around my eyes. If I use the lighter shade it looks daft and too obvious.

I gave up on concealers (thick goo on crepey areas is a nonstarter, I used to use Bobbi Brown) but color-correcting with a too-yellow lightweight liquid foundation (Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum) works wonders.

It just looks crap no matter how I do it or what I use nabootique. If I set it with powder it looks naff and, well, powdery. If I don't apply powder it disappears or settles in the crevices. I don't really need powder elsewhere on my face either and I don't like the way it feels.

I've hated these tear troughs with a passion for years as they make me look even more knackered than I am. I'd be tempted to try fillers to see if they made me feel any better but if I did like them I'd be in trouble as I wouldn't be able to afford to have them done regularly.

Very true about what looks good on film and with intense lights opposed to in natural light.

Hmmm...I'm 49 and have just started using under-eye concealer.

I borrowed DD1's on holiday when I was looking a little jaded one morning, and it turned out to be miraculous stuff. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. I just use a little, and if I pat it with a beauty blender it totally vanishes into my skin....along with the bags.

It's definitely possible to use too much, though. Then it's cake city. But that's true of all of them, I'd say.

Tear trough?! I have just googled and this is 100000% what I have! I always just thought they were hideous under eye bags
