Avon - any 'must haves' or 'avoids'?

I have a friend who is just starting as an Avon rep. I'd like to support her by making a few purchases but didn't want to get anything useless! Any top tips of what to buy from Avon? I'm 49 if that makes any difference, not an expert make-up applier but could really do with updating my make-up. But don't only keep your recommendations on make-up, I'm interested in other products too! Also, what should I definitely not bother with?!

I don't find the nail varnishes good to be honest, not a patch on primark. But I swear by their colour correcting pearls. I would never be without them, I've used them in summer on bare skin and I use them now with my bb cream. They make a huge difference to my shit complection/problem skin.

The pillow mist they do is really nice! They also do a gel eyeliner pen that is good.

I really like their mineral powder. Don't buy a bargain bag, out of the 5 items 4 were nail varnish!

yip, the glimmerstick eyeliners are great - they were just £1.75 recently & I bought 5 - love them, next best thing to bobbi brown

I love their glimmersticks as well.

My friend has just started doing Avon as well and tries to sell me lots of things. I have enough makeup as it is but I did try the glimmerstick and a matte lipstick. Both are big hits.

Glimmersticks are good. Their gel nail polishes are good, in fact I love their 'pro' nail varnishes, they stay on better than my Chanel ones.
Their waterproof mascara is rubbish, as in, not waterproof at all.
Their nail drying oil spray thing is brill.
Their eye cream that is split into a gel and a cream is one I keep coming back to after trying loads of other in between. Anew Clinical Eye Lift or something like that.
I'm probably the only person in the world that doesn't like SSS and it definitely does not stock mosquitoes biting.

Same here, very good friend has also just started as a rep (she's done about 2 campaigns now) and I want to support but I didn't want to buy stuff for the sake of it. I can't afford to.
I really like their shampoo & conditioners, the anew cleanser is nice with the muslin cloths (bit like Liz Earle but cheaper) face masks and scrubs also nice! Bought dh the men's hair & body wash and he really liked that and I could really smell it on him after he got out of the shower! I'd also buy their sun cream if I was going away but I'm not!

I hadn't had Avon for years but when I last did I hated the makeup! Having said that friend put in free lipstick sample (it's the matte one) and that was lovely so I think I'm gonna order that. But I'm pretty settled with my other makeup products (Estée Lauder) so won't be trying out any other makeup bits. I'm trying to stick to things I would have to buy anyway like shampoo/body wash etc and the odd treat like face mask or scrub.

Totally love glimmersticks for eyes and lips. They never need sharpening and go on smooth. They are my no1 must have make up item actually.

Have just looked at glimmersticks (now have one in my amazon basket) and colour correcting pearls, but there is no item description or reviews of those - can someone explain them to me? From the photo some look greenish in colour, do they work to even out your skin tone and tone down any redness?

I swear by the colour correction pearls, they have different colours in the pot green/purple/pink/cream and you just use a big brush all over them and apply all over your face. It makes me appear more even and definitely corrects the redness I suffer with. I have awful skin at times and these are worth it. I get them on eBay new for about £6

I love the glimmerstick eyeliner too! Also love the mascara (I think it's the superlash or spectralash one but I have run out so I can't even go and check which one it is). They have a really lovely primer, the Anew primer in a gold bottle. Pricey though so I wait til it's on offer.

Thank you Nantucket, they definitely sound worth a try, especially at that price!

Skin so soft spray ...makes your skin feel lovely and moisturised and really quick to use after a shower.
Also the mascara in the yellow tube. Can't remember the name. About £10 but often on half price Smile

Didn't like their cream to powder face stuff. It was in a compact with a sponge applicator. Like an all in one face Base. Smelt a bit funny, like gone off make up.

I recently bought some of their bb nail varnish and it's great, it's really improved the condition of my nails. I also like their gel nail varnish.

www.avon.uk.com/product/354-1203/skin-so-soft/skin-so-soft-fast-hydration-dry-oil-spray this stuff keeps mosquitoes away like nothing else and smells a lot better than bug spray. I wouldn't be without it.

I like their argan oil leave in serum, it's not heavy or greasy on your hair

Glimmersticks are brilliant and usually on offer

Eye shadows are great

Tinted lip balm

So soft spray

Room/linen sprays

Gel shine nail varnish looks great, but make sure you use an undercoat bitter mistake Shock

Another Glimmersticks fan, they just do the job really well. I got a red lipstick from there that lasts amazingly considering it was pretty cheap - don't know the name but it was in a black case and had a clear bit at the top of the lid.
