How to wear a jumper dress?

poppym12 · 23/09/2016 10:09

I ordered long jumper/tunic thinking I'd wear it to cover my fat ass in jeans. The jumper has arrived. It's huge. Knee length. It's lovely and soft (without wool as I have a major sleep type allergy) but is it wearable? If so, how?

I really like that jumper dress....i would wear with thick tights and tan boots...

StrawberrytallCake · 23/09/2016 16:16

Agree with hollieberrie leggings add bull on me too! I love cons with dresses but worry that it looks a bit weird in winter - do you wear with opaques when it gets colder?

mangocoveredlamb · 23/09/2016 16:20

I love that dress!
I had a new look voucher so I've just ordered it for Christmas (when I'll be 7 weeks post baby and will want to be comfy!)

A lot of my boots are blowfish too cake. Have picked up some bargains over the years. I like mustang and some rocket dog (but have to be picky with the rocket dog ones as have seen a few pairs noted as leather).

Ohhh thats lovely Smile

poppym12 · 23/09/2016 16:30

I'm glad people like the dress Smile. I posted a discount code which I used and got 29% off. It was 'facebook20' but I'm not sure how long it's valid for. Might be of use?

It is I've just tried it, what's the sizing like?

GinAndOnIt · 23/09/2016 16:34

Gorgeous dress! Just to echo what everyone else is saying, I'd wear with thick tights and short ankle boots, or bare legs and shoe boots.

poppym12 · 23/09/2016 16:41

It's roomy coco. I'm a good 16 around my hips and the large is plenty big enough - a bit big on the top half really but I'd rather that than it cling to my horrible heifer hips.

Eek, just bought it! I hardly ever buy clothes online. Couldn't resist with the code thank you Grin

I'm going to try over skinny jeans/jeggings with converse for home and grey leggings or opaque tights with ankle boots for work.

Cocolepew · 23/09/2016 17:36

Thanks poppy ☺️

poppym12 · 23/09/2016 18:06

Hope you both like it Grin sadly it doesn't look as stylish on me as on the slim model but it is really soft for a non wool jumper.

I went to my wardrobe, I still have my red jumper dress (Cashmillion acrylic pretendy cashmere but fine and soft) but....if I wear it with tights, will it ride up?
I'd rather wear leggings than tights+slip.

I have some Maidenform shapewear leggings that need an outing , they'd look like opaque tights but sleeker.

NantucketNightbird · 23/09/2016 19:15

I had a knitted dress on yesterday but more fitted. I wore it with charcoal tights and my velvet floral docs. I'm living in dresses/skirts with tights right now. I sometimes wear my converse with them.

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/09/2016 20:51

I've bought a couple of jumper dresses for autumn and have been wearing them with opaques and brogues.

Teamoaktree · 24/09/2016 07:09

I like jumper dresses from the front, but they make me look like a lump from behind. Is it just me?

27yummymummy · 24/09/2016 10:42

Definitely with tights and ankle boots! ASOS always have really nice jumper dresses too. Maybe wear it with high heels to smarten it up if you're wearing it to work?

poppym12 · 24/09/2016 15:23

I've tried it on with some ankle boots. They're mustang boots with a heel (but not 'girly') and that combo seems to work Grin tried it with leggings and opaque tights but I've decided I now want something that doesn't seem to exist.

I want dark grey (not marl) opaque footless tights or seam free leggings. Ideally they'll smooth out my lumps and bumps too to stop me looking like a sack of spuds.

Any ideas please?

oh god. i ordered that newlook jumper dress and its huge and shapeless. Feels beautiful and its a gorgeous light grey but the size 12 measures 44" at the hip and 38" at the waist. Ive tried belting it with a skinny belt but that wasnt the look i was going for. Has anyone else ordered one. it looks skin tight / fitted on the model. Confused

LittleCandle · 28/09/2016 22:31

Simply Be do good non leather boots with different calf widths, so pretty much everyone is covered! I love jumper dresses and wear them over tights, leggings, jeans... Depends on the weather and how I feel. Add a belt for a change - the sky is the limit.

fruitpastille · 29/09/2016 22:18

I ordered a medium (I'm 12-14) and I could easily fit two of me into it!!! Ridiculous size - and I say that as someone who is used to fat face vanity sizing. Sending it back. This if why I rarely clothes shop online ...

Gwenhwyfar · 30/09/2016 18:55

"where I live it's between 14-18c in the day this week, if I wore tights I would be a bit grim and sweaty!"

Seriously? 18C is hardly hot!

Gwenhwyfar · 30/09/2016 19:00

" I think leggings kind of ruin the look, and add bulk, on me anyway. Opaque tights defo more flattering IMO."

My black leggings and opaque tights look exactly the same if I'm wearing boots. Leggings would be a bit warmer.

Same here
