Your 'band' t-shirt

Saw a photo of Winona Ryder in jeans with a Tom Waits t-shirt and thought 'Aha, that's what I should wear with my high waisted jeans!'. Only problem is I don't have a cool band t-shirt. I have a Madonna t-shirt from her Drowned World tour but is that cool enough?
What cool 'band' t-shirt do you have?

OP posts:
NewlySkinnyMe · 06/09/2016 11:33

Bruce Springsteen. Is that cool?

MadameJosephine · 06/09/2016 11:33

My favourite is a Hanoi rocks t shirt that I have had since about 1987

ageingrunner · 06/09/2016 11:38

I noticed that sainsburys have guns n roses tshirts. Rock n roll! Hmm

I8toys · 06/09/2016 16:25

Five Finger Death Punch Tour shirt. Can't do just band shirts - they have to be from the tour!!!!

DoreenLethal · 06/09/2016 16:35

KISS, Afghan Whigs, Moby, Hanoi Rocks, GNR the one that was very much not a feminist outlook on street life, Morrissey Dagenham Dave 90s footie style, alternative tentacles hoodie, Delicious Monster, a red Oasis one from the first tour...i had loads as a friend used to work for Rough Trade and gave me about three bin bags full of indie band tshirts and i wore the bastards til they fell apart. I cant even remember most of them but many were very funny.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 06/09/2016 16:36

I have a few band tshirts - him, slipknot, trivium and a couple from download festival but all too small now :(

I buy geeky and quirky tshirts from qwertee, pretty much live in them outside of work with my skinny jeans and disney vans!

hugoagogo · 06/09/2016 16:58

I have 2 or 3 Senseless things, same for Mega city 4, 2 Manics-the Design for life one is the only one I still wear in public ( librarian Grin) Birdland, Family cat, Fields of the Nephilim, Drive, Dinosaur junior, Oasis, Bowie, Teenage Fan club and Carter USM.
I don't see them as a fashion thing.

Kingsizecrochetblanket · 06/09/2016 17:22

I have loads, I get one at every gig I go to, but my current favourite is my foo fighters one from last year. It has Dave Grohl's X-ray on it from when he broke his leg.
I'm currently hobbling about in a cast.
It's very apt.

MinesaBottle · 06/09/2016 17:28

I had loads from the 90s which my mum 'accidentally' got rid of a few years ago (to be fair, she had been storing them in the attic for years but THEY WEREN'T IN THE WAY! I'm not bitter.

Anyway I'd give anything to get back my Babes in Toyland 'To Mother' shirt. And my Somic Youth one I also quite fancy a Sex Pistols one but obviously haven't seen them live, so feel like I can't wear the t shirt!

I do still have my Shonen Knife t shirt (remember them?) but it's massive!

MinesaBottle · 06/09/2016 17:30

Sonic Youth, even. I need to cut my nails!!

Pisssssedofff · 06/09/2016 17:51

Shonan knife supported navarna at the humming bird 🙈 Blast from the past .... I wish I'd bought those tshirts

leedy · 06/09/2016 17:59

My own band. I'm not sure if that's cool or tragic. I also own a Sonic Youth woolly jumper.

I also, in the depths of my wardrobe, have a Boredoms one, a luminous orange Elastica one that I will never fit into again, a Warp Records one (ditto), and one of those James t-shirts from the early 90s....

Lndnmummy · 06/09/2016 18:13

New kids on the block Grin

Oldraver · 07/09/2016 11:10

I dont have any band t-shirts...do clubbing ones count. ? Grin

Normally being worn by people that wouldn't know a Ramones song even if it slapped them around the face with a slice of bacon...OH gets cross at this...he spoke to some lad who had Ramones t-shirt and he didnt realise it was a band....Of course OH will tell anyone that will listen that they he couldn't hear for three days after seeing them.

There is a pic on my profile of DS with ones of Daddys t-shirts circa 1978 ish. He has a couple and they are nearly threadbare

echt · 07/09/2016 12:09

Ministry: Jesus built my hot rod.

Cool as fuck.

FlemCandango · 07/09/2016 12:16

That was written on the back of inspiral carpets tee shirts. My silverfish t shirt with "fat as fuck" on the back was way better but it did nearly get me arrested, sort of, once.

Lonoxo · 09/09/2016 16:46

Thanks for your replies, some cool bands there. I agree that you should like the band, know their music and preferably been to their gigs. If I ever go to a good gig again, I will deffo think about buying a t-shirt.

OP posts:
Floisme · 09/09/2016 17:02

You know what, I think this is getting a bit competitive. I'm going to do a U-turn: Buy any T shirt you like the look of. If it gets you into that band, well and good. If not who cares - I'm sure the Ramones don't, seeing as how they're all dead.

WhatamessIgotinto · 09/09/2016 17:21

Take That. I have never, and will never, claim to be cool... Grin

GinAndOnIt · 09/09/2016 19:10

Coheed and Cambria, System of a Down and Parkway Drive. I'm sure I used to have loads more back in the day, but the reality is, I really do not suit band tshirts so they have been assigned to the PJ drawer :(

YesThisIsMe · 09/09/2016 19:24

I have the Joy Division Unknown Pleasures T shirt which I bought on a whim in a fashion shop some time before every bugger started wearing them. I do actually like Joy Division.

DH has the Daily Mash Ramones T shirt which makes us laugh.

I grew out of my teenaged Bowie T shirts, and now feel the need to replace them.

FurryDogMother · 09/09/2016 19:28

The Filthy Spectacula. Anyone? No? Oh well :)

Yourownpersonaljesus · 09/09/2016 21:26

Don't have them anymore but used to have:

Senseless Things (favourite was 'pop kid')
Carter USM
Mega City Four
Depeche Mode
The Levellers
Charlatans
Nirvana
Ludicrous Lollipops (with 'smile ya bastard' on the back)
And probably some others I've forgotten.
Only ever bought the t-shirts at gigs. Lived in my band t-shirts.

hugoagogo · 09/09/2016 21:52

I've still got my 'pop kid'
Ludicrous lollipops! Yes, I remember seeing them at the warehouse (werehouse?)in Derby good times.Grin

Yourownpersonaljesus · 09/09/2016 21:58

hugo Very jealous that you still have your pop kid t-shirt - love Senseless Things. Saw them well over a hundred times! Can't believe someone else has heard of the Lollys Good times indeed.
