Hanging up my heels. Need help.

After far too many years of wearing heels for work, one of my knees Has rebelled.

I have brogues, which I love, but can't wear with many things and loafers, which I regret.

I need round toed kitten heels (I'm late 30s; I fear block heels will make me look frumpy), but can I find them? Can I buggery. Any ideas?

I've got a pair of m&s footglove, which work. Shoes need to be smart cos of work and the fact that most of my skirts/dresses are pencil.

Block heels just upset me. Maybe if I was in my 20s, but they just make me think of the queen.

I've had the feet of an eighty year old since I was about thirty. Most of my shoes are Ecco. They aren't exactly beautiful, but not as frumpy as they used to be, and are hugely comfortable and really well made. I wear Birkenstocks all summer long, but I have a relatively casual workplace.

Remember not ballet flats, which as well as looking silly make you waddle and provide no support.

Normal smart shoes with a wearable heel (half to one inch) have been outlawed, it seems. So watching to see if.anyone finds anything!

My clarks brogues are the comfiest shoes I've had since I started work. I don't get on with ballet shoes. The only shoes matching my criteria are from China, but I don't know whether to trust them.

My sympathies but yes, as above: Hotter, Van Dal, Gabor, Ecco, Rieker. My other initiative is to wear smart trousers more with very sensible shoes, and boots a lot.

Orthotics help too

I wear Ecco, Dune, Geox and Van Dal shoes for work generally. Always flat apart from these which I have in navy and black. So comfy.

What size are you OP? I have a bunch of kitten heels that I was just thinking of getting rid off (will have to check on the nose shapes though) as I haven't worn them in years and never wore them much in the first place. I'll be happy to pass them onto you if you're interested.

I don't really need a heel- am 5'9- but they suit my look. I'm between 7 and 8 in shoes and can't really do pointy cos I have a hammer toe and a mortal fear of bunions.

I feel your pain, my dodgy knee made me retire my extensive heel collection a few years ago. Flats only now!
Waldlaufer have flattish suede pumps that are cut higher on the foot than ballets, so much more supportive and comfortable while still being smart. Think shoes have something similar too. Both brands have roundish toes.
Peter Hahn have a good selection of lowish heels.

Plantar fasciitis has had me living in Nikes for the last 18 months - easy in my current job, but when I move to a new one in 8 weeks I'm going to have to start looking smarter again. So far I've found one solitary pair of loafers from Simply Be that don't make me feel about 100

I've just bought 2 pairs one flat one with block heel from clarks the block heel actually look good with trousers and jeans I've spent months looking for decent smart flat shoes and struggle for inspiration because I'm so used to court shoes

I'm now firmly in flats.

I like Jonny's or el naturalista. The JOnny's are pretty cheap and have lots of colours too

Could you go to a podiatrist and get some orthotics made? They might really help you out. I completely sympathise as I am now a wearer of Ecco and M and S footgloves. I am one step away from an American tan support tight. Bloody plantar fasciitis.

I think the sole is important for comfort as well as the heel. You can get padding, memory foam, different thicknesses and different shapes contoured to the foot.

Boden do lots of flats, often stylish ones, but generally a narrow fit (which I like) but a thin sole which does not cushion the foot as much.

What sort of knee rebellion? It might be fixable
