Cheers MI

Monty so sorry about your/DDS awful night. Dd1 was v nervy. Siblings have it easier.

Chicken looks brill CV. How brill too that D's is getting stuck in at school.

NU hope you're journey has been OK.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 06/09/2016 22:26

Love the fact that I'm hearing more about mutual friends sixth form plans from you, CV, than her! Imagine it's pretty stressful at her place!

Ds has been much cheered by message from school who have managed to wangle his timetable and rid him of his horrid History teacher (and I don't say that lightly). He has the nicest man teaching him now, so I'm hoping for a resurgence in History Happiness.... I'm also slightly in love with his old head of year who has been hugely helpful with all of this.

I had a slightly surreal moment sticking name tags into Size 12 shoes. That's not right on any level.

Love to rudy's ds and Cremdad and all with ailing family. Took ddad to have skin cancer cells zapped today. He really is the most accommodating, grateful and polite man I've ever have the pleasure to know all my life. His only question to the dermatologist was 'does this mean I can't swim in the sea tomorrow?' Grin

Beachy's DDad asked the right question. It is going to be H. O. T. tomorrow & the sea is at its best.

Which is why I haven't been around much - I am quietly turning into a fish & swimming twice a day on the tides.

Much commiseration from me to all of you who are dealing with school returners and/or AP's.

I think I am in a hiatus of life where I have no children to bother about and am not (quite) old enough for them to be bothered about me. I am mightily enjoying it & hoping it lasts for a few more years.

motherinferior · 07/09/2016 06:55

MagiGrinGrinGrin

My own dad is apparently having a nicer holiday than he expected and indeed is swimming a lot himself. I am off to embark on a Ladyjog on this sauna-esque day.

Blackduck · 07/09/2016 07:03

I want to resign :(. I am so tired of people not consulting me, going over my head, having decisions made for one individual that make it inequitable for others. I am tired of fighting all this cr*p

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2016 07:06

GGG, sympathies on uti - I had a touch of cystitis (I think!) on hol and saved myself by drinking loads. Then plagued by thrush on my return. As well as the daily spotting Angry But all seems OK for the last couple of days - long may it continue!

CVEnvy at your DS getting stuck in. We had a late night drama here about printing off homework and which subject to drop. Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh!

Monty, poor little DD. Hopefully today she feels a bit more confident.
WAF, glad your DD was OK.

Beachy, your DDad sounds fab Smile

CV, that traybake looks great. DS's Oreo cheesecake was a hit and he said he wants to do more cooking, so maybe he could try that!

Unfortunately Rudy I don't think it's doable at the moment......

Are you coming Saturday? That would be most fab.

addle · 07/09/2016 07:18

BD, how miserable. if you really can't resign can you stop fighting the crap and distance yourself? I know much, much easier said than done

Monty hope DD has better day

BTM, how's your voice?

MI, do the strawberries not go slimy/mushy in crumble?

Found out last night that DD and DS do not like turkey in any form (was escalopes all golden and crispy) and yet were outraged at the idea we have something else at Christmas. ditto Christmas pudding

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2016 07:29

My voice is slowly recovering I think, addle. I hope to be on full volume by Saturday!

Rudy, yay! to you coming on SaturdaySmile

BD, booo! to crapness at work Angry

Auriga · 07/09/2016 07:34

Crem, did you ever get round to emailing details to me? Sorry but can't find them if so Blush

bigTillyMint · 07/09/2016 07:41

Have PMd you AurigaSmile

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/09/2016 08:28

V pleased to hear you'll be there on Saturday, Rudy!

BD - so sorry to hear that work continues to be utterly crap. We have a very difficult meeting with head of dept today - essentially someone the same grade as her has swooped in and taken a large chunk of her high profile work, essentially shoving her out of the picture completely. They have very senior cover for what they have done and it really is a fait accompli. Boss/that colleague and I have to meet with her this morning and tell her what has happened. The fall-out will be huge and she will blame us (not her own, piss poor performance, which is why this is being done). Colleague is quite chilled about this, but I don't think it will be pleasant.

Blackduck · 07/09/2016 08:45

Ouch MrsS - update us later! Here essentially it's special treatment and someone being paid twice for doing the same job....

Cremolafoam · 07/09/2016 09:43

Auriga, you didn't send me your email address ,so I pmed them I think.Smile Thanks BTM.

Beachy did you get the flat details. She has sent me better directions , so will send those on to you Rudy and Hatty.

I too, am looking forward to Saturday. Thankfully, ddad is looking and feeling better, although he thinks himself more fragile than he actually is,as he remembers how long it took for him to get better two years ago ( when he really was at death's door) There is talk of 'home' but I think it'll be next week at the earliest. Nigel the Physio told me he is doing really well. He may still have to go to a rehab place in between against his will. We will see.

Sorry for all the Crepeys with fanjo ailments. Utter misery, as I well know after recent kidney infection.

It is very heartening to hear of the Crepey Offspring doing well and winning little battles.SmileFlowerslovely.

Has Herbs fallen off Marge Pier?

Rudy, with your bra on your head, how could you fail to look glam? Grin

I am finding being back at work hard work - paperwork today and it's soooo boring Blush Still, off to see my hot dentist this afternoon!

motherinferior · 07/09/2016 12:11

I have been recommending Monty's Hot (IMO) plumber.

Attempting to write a 400-précis of something and finding it harder than I thought. Also have NO idea what to feed my lot tonight so it's stuffed pasta and salad.

hattymattie · 07/09/2016 14:19

Afternoon - all - today was la rentree - they are all very sweet so far - although I'm not convinced about the ability of some of them to speak English. Hmm

GGG - hope you're feeling better. I hate things like that.

BD - hope things improve - otherwise, agree, distance yourself and do the minimum. Too exhausting to bang your head against a brick wall.

The weather is boiling - going to have to maybe rethink my clothes for the weekend. It's trying to cover all eventualities. DD has gone to Prague with a tiny Eastpak for 4 days, I expect she doesn't care if her clothes are crumpled to within an inch of their life.

Saw mini Herbs on FB this morning looking ultra cute as he goes back to school.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 07/09/2016 14:22

Hatty, Beachy have pmed you....

herbaceous · 07/09/2016 14:27

What Ho crepeys! I am returned. How lovely to have been missed.

Got back from a packed two days in Margs (which was mainly shut) last night, then shunted DS off to school this morning, and straight to a training session on slightly baffling new app at work today. Then went to Sainsbury's, as had forgotten to buy mini-Herbs any new PE shorts. While I was there picked up a couple of things for myself. I may or may not wear them on Saturday - it can be an amusing guessing game for you all.

Also got a pair of silver brogues with white soles from Primark for....

....

wait for it...

...

£5!

I have no cystitis or thrush, thankfully, but am generally wizened in that area. And sore during any Marital Relations. I got some cream from the doctor in May half term (DS was in attendance, so I had to employ some top-notch euphemisms) but it's nearly run out and I can't face a three-week wait for a 10-minute appointment. Wonder if I could get a repeat prescription? How does this work?

Off to the park after school to meet a friend of a friend's son who is similarly obsessed with trains and tubes as DS. Hopefully they can bore each other and leave me alone. Last night he was watching videos of trains leaving Liverpool Lime Street.

NUFC69 · 07/09/2016 15:30

Welcome home, Herbs. Regarding UTIs, I do not suffer with them, but my DSis does, or did, all the time. Her answer is a small glass of cranberry juice every day, but, more importantly, she has a set number of glasses of water she drinks and this seems to have stopped the problems.

We arrived safely in SF yesterday after a reasonable flight and, Hatty, we had already cleared immigration in Dublin, so it was like arriving on an internal flight (sorry for bold). Much, much easier.

We arrived at our not cheap Holiday Inn Express for our overnight stay (£150 a room), and discovered hat they didn't put tea on their hospitality trays in bedrooms, I mean, seriously, who does this? Some crap coffee according to DH, but NO TEA!!! Was desperate for a cuppa by then, too. Words were spoken and they came up with two (ii,2) teabags for me. Really? Back to the airport shortly to pick up the hire car, and then off to Santa Rosa.

Good that DDad is improving, Crem. Rose, your DD sounds lovely. How is DS, Rudy?

Lalsy · 07/09/2016 15:56

Oooh have a lovely time NU, but pah about the tea!!!

Herbs, phone appt if they won't do on repeat? Mine do most appointments by phone now but even before that they would for meds you have had before type of thing.

Meltingly hot here. dd has to go into boiling loft to retrieve winter clothes to take to uni. I am hiding. Stropps, hope going well/ish/proceeding in a westerly direction even at snail's pace your end.

I should say re dd that I doubt anyone who knows here would think she doesn't already express her opinions forcefully....think she is more talking about how she perceives herself in that respect (she is gold medal over-thinker before any f you ask).

Magi and Beachy your posts yesterday really cheered me up after flaming row with BT. Beachy, sorry to hear things tough for ds.
