I'm due for my 'usual' Highlights/under colour and cut soon, and I'm also in the process of growing a style out. I am looking for style ideas. I am also considering altering the colour too!

I am short, at just under 5ft.

Any suggestions welcome! Smile

I think a warm brown would be nice.

gingerbreadmanm · 02/09/2016 12:00

what about somwthing like this?

volumising powder / mouse and matte wax would really add texture and volume.

MrsSthe3rd · 02/09/2016 12:11

I'll have a look at that colour and see how I feel.

Oh, that's shorter. I do like it though.

Would you say a shorter style would suit my face better?

My hair is as fine as yours, and mine is a similar length (but I'm brunette). I have quite a few layers to give lift at the crown, and a side swept fringe. I also have flicky bits at the sides (technical term), which I like as they all build up to give a bit of an illusion to body. I'll have a look for a photo that's similar. Texturising gum is brilliant for messing it up a bit to make it look bigger.

retainertrainer · 02/09/2016 12:21

I think either shorter as suggested above or persevere and grow it to chin length but try to even up the sides.

MrsSthe3rd · 02/09/2016 13:10

I do quite like that style too. Thanks for the link.

I'm really not patient, at all. However, I quite like the just above the shoulder length and was hoping I'd be able to give it a slight curl/kink (another technical term there) - think Lauren Conrad style. Do you think that would be too much/not suit?

OP posts:
gingerbreadmanm · 02/09/2016 13:49

a wave in it would definitely make it look thicker.

dont get it layered. layering thins your hair and if you dont like that aspect of it you definitely dont want layers or not many of them.

i think either style would be nice. i suppose if u go long you can always cut it. i would stop with the darker underneath it is quite dated. could you try highlights and lowlights to give it a bit more texture. have the highlights lighter.

gingerbreadmanm · 02/09/2016 13:53

something along these lines could work but would be a lot of maintenance.

MrsSthe3rd · 02/09/2016 13:55

The layers are driving me crazy so I wouldn't miss them Grin

Tbh, it isn't 'stand out dark' underneath (I don't think) so I wouldn't miss it if I were to go with different colours. However, I am so pale (as you can see) that I'm just not sure the blonde colours are doing much, if anything, for me.

Cross Post there.........

Not sure I would be able to continue the maintenance on that tbh, however, it's really lovely.

have you seen recent pics of christina aguilera? she has gone a coppery colour and it's lovely. would something like that suit?

tbh id go with the shorter style i think its lovely. how about emma willis old do's?

are you going to a good salon?

I like that colour on her, but not sure I could pull it off. I'd possibly still look quite pale.

That's my original style actually Grin. Maybe a change of colour will be all I go for at the minute. I don't want to rush into it and regret it.

Hairdresser is really good and every time I've taken a picture in, I have come out with what I've asked for.

gingerbreadmanm · 02/09/2016 14:52

well if you think blonde or coppery / red colours are no good for your skin maybe darker is the way to go?

guess it would be nice for the autumn.

rbh if you went for emma willis type hair it would probs just even your sides up so if you did want to go longer it would be a nice starting point.

MrsSthe3rd · 02/09/2016 14:59

I guess I'm just very aware of how awfully pale I look.

I do like your idea of high/low-lights.

I'll have a google now for her styles.

I think you would look lovely with reddish hair. Maybe not as red as CA in the link but some copper streaks to give a bit of colour. You do have very pale skin and hair at the moment.

I love red hair, though Smile

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/09/2016 15:07

I don't think you'd suit a dark brown colour, your eyebrows are quite pale and I think it will swallow you up. (another technical term!)
Your blonde colour is lovely. If you can be patient and grow out your current layers, a blunt bob would look great. Ask the hairdresser how to achieve flicks and loose curls with GHD straighteners for some movement. It's surprisingly easy to do at home.
I like your glasses Smile.

Kazplus2 · 02/09/2016 15:35

I would go shorter side longer, to match the length and style of longer side. I would add in copper / gold tones to it, so highlights with a few shades of blonde. I also have gone blonde hair and I'm very fair and I think golden tones are fine.

Bambooshoots14 · 02/09/2016 20:29

Both sides like the long side, bit darker/ copper would look good
