I'm getting my nose pierced!

I'm thinking of getting a little sparkly stud to start with, something small and pretty.

I can't decide which side to get it on though - does anyone have their nose pierced, and which side do you have it on?

I have mine on the right which seems to go against the norm but it just felt right, it just had to be that side !

I had mine on the left and it was extremely painful and left a horrible scar when i got bored of it, having never healed up.
Honestly I would not bother.

I have mine on the left side it's a cultural thing for us (Indian heritage), I notice non Asian people generally have their right side pierced.

If you get your nose pierced ask for it to be done with a needle not a gun.

I love my nose piercing.

Don't worry, I went into the studio to chat to them and they only pierce with a needle, never a gun!

Satvia - that's the problem, I am so indecisive I don't even have an instinct about which side it should be!

I read that about the cultural difference, I found it very interesting fuzzy - how long did it take for yours to heal?

Mine is one the left. I chose it as it's the more attractive side of my face! I had it about 15 yeas ago. Still love it now. I currently have a very small gold stud.

Mines on the right. I love it. My face doesn't look right without it. I wear a very small,sparkly stud.

I think the right side of my face is more attractive, but honestly I'm a bit worried that if I decide to take it out a few years down the line, that if I have a scar I'll have ruined the nice side of my face!

I had mine done when I was 17. Took the stud out when uneasy about 23 but I still have a very visible hole. If I tried I think I'd be able to get a stud in again easily. I don't think you should do it. Mine was in the left.

Can only speak for my own experience, but the hole is very small - I don't think mine would close now after all this time so I'd be left with a tiny hole or if it did, a tiny scar - both barely noticeable.
I don't feel like me without mine either. Love it

I got mine done about four years ago I think. It didn't hurt at all after and if I hadn't been fiddling with it would have healed much faster, but it took about four weeks. I didn't have to do anything altho I did buy the cleaning fluid they suggested I clean it with and cleaned it every evening with a cotton bud. It didn't hurt or anything whilst healing, was a very easy piercing to take care of.

Mine does heal up fast even now so if I wear a smaller sized piece of jewellery when I come to wear a slightly bigger hoop the piercing is too small to take it. Presumably there'll be a point where it won't heal up again but mine still does.

I wouldn't get it done if you're not sure about it tho, it's a very visible place to have something done that you may not be able to completely reverse.

I got mine a few yrs ago newly divorced I love it I wear sparkly crystals and its the right side. I had the needle and apparently it was difficult to do with my nose cartilage but it was worth a few moments discomfort, I want a Monroe next. My uber control freak ex hated piercings and tatts so I'm making up for lost time.

I had mine pierced around 15 years ago by a piercer at a very reputable tattoo and piercing studio. I didn't know any better at the time and she used a gun, the hole went in at an angle rather than straight which made getting studs in very difficult. I persevered with it for about six months but in that time it never properly healed, was constantly sore and was quite swollen around the hole meaning that studs didn't fit very well and would fall out with the slightest knock, all this despite cleansing meticulously throughout. I actually had to resort to putting a piece of micropore over it before going to bed to stop it falling out or being knocked out when I was asleep.

I accidentally brushed my hand against it while out shopping one day and the stud fell out, by the time I got home 30 minutes later it was virtually impossible to get a clean one back in so I gave up on it. Despite all of the problems, it hasn't left a scar.

I really wish it had worked for me as I think they look lovely.

Those of you who say it heals up very quickly - what does that look like? I've heard some people describe it as looking like a blackhead or something, is that right?

Have had mine done twice, first time at 16 when I promptly passed out in Marks and Spencer straight afterwards taking a rack Of men's jumpers with me and waking to hear the shop assistant ask my best friend if I was 'on drugs'.

The hole closed up internally about 15 yrs later so I had it done again then. I took a mars bar and laid down so I didn't keel over again.

I have the right hand side done, I practiced with a stick on one first to see which side looked better.

When it closed up inside, the outside never did so I look like I have a large, indented black head when I take it out. However, I am pushing 40 now and have never regretted having it done.

I had mine done when I was 17, 19 years ago, in the cupboard of a dodgy 'alternative' shop with a manky looking gun.

Totally spur of the moment and God knows why I thought there would be a good idea.

Anyway, I wore a sparkly little stud for a while, then a little hoop for a good few years before taking them out about 10 years ago.

Then about 6 months ago I tried to push a stud through again and it went through reasonably easily so I'm back to wearing a little sparkly stud. I love it all over again.

I had a very strong feeling which side it should be but if you haven't I guess either side will be fine.

For the record I had mine done with a gun, it hurt way less than my ears & healed up easily. I've never regretted it.

I had it done years ago, at a well known tattoo parlour, the hole was miniscule and despite fidgeting and getting an infection (my whole nose doubled in size and would've been a dream come true for those in sporners' corner) when I took it out a few years ago it healed beautifully and left no scar.

Mine's on the right.

I've had it done 3 times, I was getting chronic nose bleeds at one time so took it out then and it healed up, then I was asked to take it out for a job and I forgot to keep putting a stud in at night so I've just had it done again.

The piercer could see the old piecing but only when she got close to me. No one else would have noticed.

I think you should consider a ring for your fist piercing. If your nose swells then it can sort of absorb the stud, that happened to me with my last one, I took it out and replaced it with an old stud I knew would fit.

If you have a ring then any swelling just pulls a bit more ring in. I also find it easier to clean when healing with a ring, clean the outside with a cotton bud then roll it into the nose and clean the bit that was in the nostril.

Mine's on the left, had it for 4 years. It was a bastard to heal. I've had a lot of piercings and this was the worst, it took over a year. I would also recommend getting a ring to begin with, for the healing period.

Mine's on the right. No problems with healing at all. Currently just have a small silver stud in it.

I've had mine 20 years. I wear a stud for work, ball close ring for the rest of the time.
It's on the right side. Healed very quickly and never had a moments bother with it.

I did faint when it was done though

I had mine done on the right side about 25 years ago. I wear a very thin, small silver ring, it's kind of tucked closely against my nose and no one really notices it.

Had mine a few months

Healed in about 4 weeks

You absolutely do NOT need a ring to start with and you do NOT need to clean the bit of the piercing through the nostril

If you want a stud (like mine) the piercer should use a long bar to start with in the car of sweeping then you back in a to 3 months and they change the bar out for a shorter one.

I have mine on the left if your me or the right id your looking at me. I also have an industrial on the same side. Reaon being my hair is in a asymmetric pixie and is shaved on that side. LOVE LOVE LOVE MINE

Oh and if you really can't decided ask the piercer it's what they do everyday!
