I'm after a proper old fashioned denim mini (not too mini though!) skirt, straight not A-line and no buttons. I realise that this is far from being 'in' but I like them.

I also want some really lovely big scarves - ideally a burnt orange one, a bright pink one and a red one.

Also, a pleated red skirt and the perfect grey v neck jumper.

You?

Ordered this jumper Wednesday night. It arrived today!! Could hardly believe it. V nice. Have already ordered the powder pink. As you do Hmm

EnidButton · 26/08/2016 23:29

Nearly Thanks. Sounds like it'd be a good length then. But unsure about the navy part but I'll definitely have a look at over the weekend.

Laquila · 27/08/2016 09:11

That's lovely, John how's the sizing? Make sure you're using the 25% off code!

JohnCheese · 27/08/2016 09:46

25% off code??? Eh??? Prithee tell.

I'm a 10-12, ordered the S and praise be it's a good fit. Some slouch. M would definitely be too big. I hope it wears well.

MozzchopsThirty · 27/08/2016 11:27

For those looking for slouchy v necks, I bought one in French connection in grey and it's beautiful

Whyarethebestnamestaken · 27/08/2016 12:29

Nearlya doctor , I have just ordered that grey mini skirt too and in both lengths just to see which is best. I am 5' 6" but 63 and don't want to look "mutton". I have also ordered the burgundy ribbed elbow sleeve t shirt to go with it. I was going to go with black but saw that you say background is navy as I thought it was black too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2016 14:29

I bought the grey tartan mini today but in the longer (21") length. I'm only a shortarse but the 18" was v short on me because most of my (not v high) height is legs! It would have been far, far too short for work, even with opaques - basically pelmet length on me.

Didn't see any tops I liked in M&S to go with it, but will probably just wear it with black anyway.

Did see a lovely striped t-shirt, which I can't see online. Didn't try it on because it was as I was about to pay, but might go back and investigate further at some point.

Remus, I was worried the shorter one will be too short although I am taller than you I have a longish body and shortish legs lol.

Ideally I need something black and fine knit, not too bulky as I think the short sleeve top I just got to go with it will be too cold in winter. I am a cold soul at the best of times but think it would not look right with anything too bulky on top. I also never wear skirts or dresses except on special occasions so am more used to jeans and tops.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2016 15:42

I've got a v fine cotton mix turtle neck (bought for a song in the Mango sale last year) which I think should look nice with it. Should also work with a plain black t-shirt and black cardigan/biker/blazer I hope!

Remus, I tried on the v-neck jumper in M&S today and bought it in black and grey. It's nice - not quite as slouchy as I wanted, but flatters the bits I want flattering and is very soft. Think it'll be a good everyday jumper when the cooler weather arrives.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2016 18:38

Glad you like it. I rejected it in the hope I'll find one I love more, but might relent later if I can't find a mostly cotton one.

TitaniasTits · 27/08/2016 19:34

See, I just had a feeling if I tried that, I'd never find anything better and they'd have none left in my size by then, and I'd be cursing myself for the rest of the season for not buying them.

They tick my "useful" box rather than my "LOVE!" box, but the former tend to get more wear than the latter, and sadly I don't find much that ticks both.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2016 19:52

Hmm. Good point.

Ah, my people.

I want:

the perfect black flat Chelsea boot - looked all last autumn/winter without success

a waterproof parka - dithering over the Seasalt one someone posted earlier in thread, but worried it will be calf length on me (am just under 5'4")

work trousers that don't make me look like a twat (am size 12, with a decent but v round bum and a short body - tapered trews make my arse look massive and shapeless)

Am soaking up everyone else's want lists for inspiration.

Floisme · 28/08/2016 12:02

ARich I think the Seasalt parka poster was probably me. I'm 5'3 and it came to the end my knees - so longer than most (which I liked) but not calf length.

ARichVernacular · 28/08/2016 12:29

Nice one, thanks Flo :)

mrsrhodgilbert · 28/08/2016 12:38

Autograph at M&S had lovely Chelsea boots yesterday but they had a cleated sole rather than a smooth one. Personally I prefer that look, keeps the feet a bit warmer too.

I'm looking for the perfect camel coat, prepared to pay for it but there aren't many in the shops yet.

IBelieveTheEarthIsFlat · 28/08/2016 13:42

mrsrhodgilbert
Any of these suit?

I have the L K Bennett belted one, or very similar -mine is a few years old and longer. I am looking got the perfect knee length flat boots - in tan (I think?). The coat will be longer than the top of the boots so can't clash. Anyone seen gorgeous tan boots. I think I would like them to look a bit weathered if that makes sense?

Floisme · 28/08/2016 14:00

I think I fancy dark grey corduroy for my slouchy winter trousers. It'll probably be a struggle as cord isn't much in fashion at the moment. (Why does it go in and out like this? Why can't it be a basic like denim or linen? Anyway...)

So far I've seen cord wide legs (Cos) and flares (Ines for Uniqlo preview) but I'm after a narrow-ish (not skinny) leg with a masculine vibe. I've not done androgyny for quite a long time and feel like giving it another go although I'm prepared to be disappointed as I haven't really got an androgynous body any more!

ohidoliketobe · 28/08/2016 14:24

A richvernacular I bought these clarks Chelsea boots a few weeks back
www.clarks.co.uk/p/26111965?cm_mmc=Google--Product-Listing-Ads--PLA-_-la&kpid=26111965&gclid=CPazwvSZ5M4CFYu6GwodXF8OUA
Very comfy, although I've only been able to wear them around the house so far (hurry up autumn).

I want a denim mini skirt but won't be able to try on for a few more weeks until I've given birth (2 wekks to go) and stomach has settled a bit. Tempted to get 2 cheap ones in size I think I'll be straight away and size or two down. Hmm.

mrsrhodgilbert · 28/08/2016 15:12

Thanks ibelieve, I like the belted ones but don't have the waist for them anymore. I'm looking for single breasted, knee length , quite structured but not necessarily fitted.. I'll know when I see it, I'm keeping my eye on Max Mara. I have one that's the perfect shape from M&S, from a few years ago, but the fabric is poor.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2016 17:37

I bought M&S black cord leggings after searching all last winter (I bought navy and kicked myself for not buying black too)

I bought a denim skirt for DD (Urban Outfitters) .

I bought some grey/black houndstooth leggings last week (Primark) I thought I'll give them a whirl ...............they were £1 at the checkout Grin

ARichVernacular · 28/08/2016 20:25

Thanks for all the boot suggestions. mrsrhod I like a cleated sole clutzy and slip prone here so will look out for those.

Buttonmoonb4tea · 28/08/2016 20:29

Right so I'm gonna throw it out there again, I'd like a cord A line skirt that comes to the knees, preferably in burgundy. Can anyone help please?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2016 20:49

Cord skirt here. I don't like the strangely placed pockets though.
