Has anyone done a boudoir shoot?

I am mid 40s and having lost some weight figure that if I'm ever going to do one of these, it will be now. I've got one booked for when I get back from holiday in 2 weeks and it was only just confirmed before I went. I am also due to have an operation the week after I get back which will leave me with big scars so it was even more important that I do this now (sorry if this all sounds vain, it's not meant to be, I've had had a shitty few years and lost quite a few people and just about to find out if I have cancer so I think I just see it as doing it to celebrate life)

So...if you did one did you enjoy it and what did you wear? I'm frantically trying to find nice underwear online that I can have delivered and will hopefully fit before the shoot)

Soft focus soft porn style? No, but I know someone who did. She loved the photos and that's all that matters.

I did one before I got married and have to say I loved it even though I usually hate having my photo taken. I'm a size 16 but took along tasteful underwear that I felt confident in, they did my hair and makeup for me at the shoot (optional) and I was really happy with the photos.

Haha some of the shoots I've seen look just like that Grin
I'm hoping for a more classy black and white nudey type shoot tbh. (not legs akimbo and giblets on display though!!)
I think I've always thought I looked fat or old before and looking back definitely didn't but I wanted some nice pics of me before I get carved up the week after and to look back on when I am even more wrinkly and my arse is on my foot.

Sorry but I think they're a bit naff but understand why you'd want to do one (Flowers for getting through your hard times - hope the future is brighter).

Spend your money on nice underwear to wear every day which will make you feel better every time you put it on.

Yep, did one at 'for your eyes only' about 12 months ago
I wore heels with a corset, a basque, nice bra and knickers and eventually nothing!
It's feels faintly ridiculous, you don't feel sexy and have to contort yourself to get good angles! But the pictures look great and at a time I was giving myself a good kicking daily (mentally) it really helped actually

Tatie that's what I'm after. It's just celebrating my feminity in a way that I didn't feel when I was younger. I'm not going to be putting them up in the livingroom (once went round to a woman's house and there were all these awful pics of her with her bits out draped in a red feather boa in her livingroom - I don't want that!)

I did one before I got married too. It's tacky but I don't regret it - had some fizz, the photographer was lovely, it was fun. Only DH has seen the photos (and me of course). The photographer I used had a lot of props so I'd suggest going for basic stuff - nice black undies maybe? Stockings and suspenders? Then you can accessorise on top of that.

People are quite snobby about boudoir shoots on here but I really don't see the harm as long as you don't display them in the living room Wink

I've had one, won it in a competition, and loved it! I was 6 months post partum, pasty white but felt absolutely fabulous after a glass or two of complimentary champagne and hair and make up. My photos were brilliant and I have all of them on USB (not cheap but worth it). My photographer rang me a couple of days before to discuss outfits, look and feel I wanted in the photos and to reassure me. It was really good for my confidence and I love my photos. Enjoy it, it'll be great Grin

I'm encouraged by these responses and yes I know some people think boudoir shoots are naff but I'm doing it anyway Grin
I can't drink so unfortunately can't even get any Dutch courage because I think I will need it.
Did any of you feel pressured to buy photos after?

Definitely do it! You'll look back on it in the future and be glad you did. It's a celebration of you, your body and your sensuality. I hope you have great fun doing it and that the photos look great! 😈

Oh I did one of these it was cracking good fun. They weren't blobby soft focus either.

I wore vintage style underwear, a tutu and more often than not, just my pants Grin

I did a vintage boudoir shoot years ago when I'd lost lots of weight.-It's back on but I'm working on it.-

Not as cheesy as the 80s/90s soft focus ones and it was a special offerGrin. The hair and makeup were pure vintage pin-up - red lips, victory rolls, and the pink champagne was most welcome. Smile The lingerie and corsetry was my own. It helped that the stylists and photographers were all women and they put me right at ease. The end results were fabulous - I didn't think I could look that good.

I'm glad I had it done as it's spurring me on to take myself in hand and get the figure I had in those photos back...

Oh fuck my mother did this for her 40th is genuinely never seen anything like it in my life, she then framed them, put them around the house and gave one to each of her children, my sister and I were like er ok, my brothers still have nightmares

I think if I gave photos to my DC they would die for sure! Grin
There will be no framed pics in my living room and I'm not telling DH because I want to surprise him Wink
I feel quite empowered by deciding to do this x

It sounds brilliant and I think you will have a great memory of yourself pre op. I'd do one if I had the nerve and the energy to find a photographer where I thought their aesthetic would be what I'd like. I think its great you are doing something just for yourself.
No advice just best of luck with getting some pictures you absolutely love
Don't discount possibly doing one post op one day. I've seen beautiful pictures of mastectomies and similar snd often thought that must be a great way to rediscover the beauty of your body.
