Has anyone done a boudoir shoot?

I am mid 40s and having lost some weight figure that if I'm ever going to do one of these, it will be now. I've got one booked for when I get back from holiday in 2 weeks and it was only just confirmed before I went. I am also due to have an operation the week after I get back which will leave me with big scars so it was even more important that I do this now (sorry if this all sounds vain, it's not meant to be, I've had had a shitty few years and lost quite a few people and just about to find out if I have cancer so I think I just see it as doing it to celebrate life)

So...if you did one did you enjoy it and what did you wear? I'm frantically trying to find nice underwear online that I can have delivered and will hopefully fit before the shoot)

Last thank you Flowers I think if I get through all this that one day I would do a post op one. I just wanted to do this before to remember what my body was like.
(Seriously everyone - I have done this so many times myself, hating my legs, thighs, tummy etc. but your body, WHATEVER it looks like, is a beautiful thing. Love it to pieces and celebrate it! It's all we've really got! It took me this long to work this out! You will never be more youthful and more beautiful than you are today so enjoy every moment)

I wanted to do one of these in my 20s. Never put the money aside.

Now I've 50, I regret not doing it then. It would be nice to have now to look back on.

SlowJinn · 18/08/2016 17:53

Estella enjoy your photo shoot and Flowers for a swift recovery from the surgery.

ohtheholidays · 18/08/2016 17:56

I have 2 friends that had them done OP and they both had an amazing time,I've seen the more vanilla one's that they had done and they did look amazing.

parentallyadept · 18/08/2016 19:17

I did this a few years ago, and loved every minute of it! It was an all-female crew, I wore my own underwear, the hair and makeup pampering was lovely, and the photos were so amazing - I honestly never thought I'd look like that (I'm a size 14 30-something mother of 3, and I've always had body issues). It was expensive, but I will never regret having it done (and no, my pictures aren't on display in the living room either Grin - most apart from a very select few are for mine and my husband's eyes only)

Do it OP!

hollinhurst84 · 18/08/2016 19:27

Yes (but I am a plus size model part time)
Sod it, here's some of the pics

EstellaHavisham · 18/08/2016 21:10

I'm quite excited to do this now. Just got to try and find some nice underwear while I'm on holiday. Not so easy with a 10 year old in tow who asks too many questions...
Hollin you look beautiful in your pics. They are very classy and arty. I really like them Flowers

Jamie get one booked now! When you're in your 80s you'll wish you'd done this in your 50s. I am 43 so we are both in our prime.

Slow thank you X I'm very scared but not got much choice but to just get on with it. This is a nice distraction before I knuckle down and face it Flowers

Parentally did your DH know you were getting it done? Well done you for doing it. I think it takes guts to do this especially for the self-conscious (like me!!) I bet the pics looked stunning X

I told him after I'd booked it so that I couldn't have an excuse to back out! He was hugely supportive (he's always told me I look fab, however low I've been about myself), and he loved the photos - and my new found confidence generally straight after! (shame it only lasted a few weeks...Grin) If I had a spare £400, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You won't regret it, I promise

JackandDiane · 18/08/2016 22:37

they are horrific
ALL

HoneyDragon · 18/08/2016 22:47

No darling they're not. You can do them wearing Breton if needs be.

Destinysdaughter · 18/08/2016 23:01

Hollin you look lovely! 😀

JinkxMonsoon · 18/08/2016 23:52

I think they're horribly naff, but maybe that's because I'd rather die than have a photoshoot of any description - clothed or not.

There is something worse than a boudoir shoot though, and that's a maternity boudoir shoot. A FOF has had a pic from hers as her FB profile pic for years. Her and her DH looking underdressed and so awkward. You can see her damn nipples through the thin lacy bra FFS. I've never met the woman, but I've seen her nipples Shock

EstellaHavisham · 19/08/2016 10:17

Well luckily I'm not doing it for the nay-sayers Hmm

I'm doing it to remember what I look like with two breast before I have one of them (or possibly both) lopped off the week after.

And to celebrate life because it's precious and if I make it to my 80s or 90s I want to look back and have no regrets.

But thanks for your opinions anyway JackandDiane, Jinx etc

Some of you - really??!!!
Hope it goes brilliantly op Flowers

HoneyDragon · 19/08/2016 10:48

Do it.

I think people who think of it as naff judge from a style/image perspective.

When you apply that to a human body than no you shouldn't get photographed or painted in the buff.

Your motivations for doing it are fab. Embracing your body when the media projects women and now men with ridiculous concepts constantly is a great thing.

Also, having the pictures will help you decide whether you want to go ahead with reconstructive surgery or not.

As I said I was toppless in photos, and I have scars from breast surgery. But as I said I had a ball doing it and the images are reminder of a fun day with some fab women.

papersmile · 19/08/2016 12:43

I think it totally depends on the photographer. My friend had some done and she looks beautiful and elegant. I have seen others (where the subject is an attractive woman) look naff.
If you've got a good photographer you'll be fine. I hope you really enjoy it. I'm sure you'll look fantastic and best of luck for the upcoming surgery.

DelicatePreciousThing1 · 19/08/2016 13:39

No way. Cringeworthy in the extreme!
Bleurgh

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 19/08/2016 14:28

Do it!

I hate having my photo taken but after a lot of encouragement from online friends I did one for our first wedding anniversary. It's one of the few times I have felt good about myself.

I wore nice lingerie (with DH's shirt over the top until I felt OK) and a few nudes. Nothing overly sexy, definitely not touching myself and nothing on show for the nudes.

My figure never fully recovered post DS and I love that I have something to look back at.

Only myself and DH have seen the photos and it was a complete shock to him as so out of character but he loved them.
