For those that love designer bags, if money was no object way bag would you treat yourself to?
Or which bag are you hankering after at the moment?

I've wanted a proenza schouler ps1 for as long as I can remember. Haven't got I've yet

hollyisalovelyname · 13/08/2016 10:20

Chanel or Hermes.
In my dreams.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 13/08/2016 10:32

Mine would be on pale blue. Sigh...

HooseRice · 13/08/2016 10:36

I got a brown Bayswater a few years back. I don't use it, last time was about a year ago. If I'm honest I don't like it that much.

MarvinGorilla · 13/08/2016 12:50

I did cheesy, but not without about three weeks of arguments and their head office ignoring me!!

MissPronounced · 13/08/2016 15:13

The one bag I would really love is a Chanel Boy, in black caviar leather with silver hardware (snap, PNgirl!). I've wanted one since they were released. I just couldn't bring myself to spend thousands on one bag, though, even if I could get hold of one in the perfect combination. They're a fairly safe investment, just not for me.

The only designer bag I've bought is a brown (oak? I think, officially) Bayswater, bought late-2011. I used it to death for a few months and then got to a point where I never wanted to see it again - possibly because at that time half the women in my office seemed to be carrying Mulberry bags around, so I was a bit sick of the sight of them. I haven't used it at all since, so it wasn't the best use of my money. It's heavy and larger than I need. I only use shoulder bags these days.

KittyKrap · 13/08/2016 15:24

I've got a new limited edition Chanel handbag but I've never used it (too scared) so I can only imagine I'll sell it in 5-10 years. Day to day I have a pre-loved Gucci, a Gucci disco and a Moschino tote.

I would LOVE a Hermes but again, I doubt I'd use it Confused

Macarena1990 · 13/08/2016 15:35

I've got 3 (2 mulberrys and a Vuitton)

I would love a timeless clutch bag, but not sure which brand. I am resisting Selfridges at the moment in fear I may see one which I will obsess over until I can buy it, which I really can't justify at the moment!!

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/08/2016 15:35

I use my chanel all the time but then think bags should be worn or may as well buy a bench Wink

But the price increases are insane. My jumbo has gone up by nearly £1k since I bought it 18 months ago which is utter madness. We're doing a lot of building works finally so all handbag buying is on hold for 6 months but then I definitely be looking at another chanel or the jyspiere.

Macarena1990 · 13/08/2016 15:43

I agree MrsCampbellBlack - I use mine everyday too. Such a waste for something so expensive/beautiful to be stored in a dustbag waiting for an occasion to be brought out.

KittyKrap · 13/08/2016 15:45

I'd get more use out of a bench! I highly doubt that a Chanel lucky charms casino bag would go down too well in my local asda Confused

sweetpeaandroses · 13/08/2016 15:47

I always wanted a Birkin. 2 years ago DH bought me one, it is really beautiful but it's very heavy and I'm paranoid about taking it out so it sadly mostly lives in it's dust jacket.

Joneseygirl77 · 13/08/2016 16:02

I've been lusting after a Chanel bag for ages. Love the boy bag and the mini crossbody ones. But I've now googled the Hermes Jypsiere so now wanting that one!
I always want a new bag for birthdays/ Christmas but DH refuses to indulge me!

I've got a few Mulberry bags and a Louis Vuitton and they're all used on a daily basis. Like others, I really think they should be enjoyed and used as opposed to sitting at home!

LaurieFairyCake · 13/08/2016 16:07

After googling all these bags I've decided there's only one I like - I only like shoulder bags. I'm too short for cross body and I hate carrying things in my hands.

So the jypsiere looks the best - but it's £4880 - I wouldn't spend 5k on a bag, too much for me. A grands my limit for anything that isn't a house or a car Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/08/2016 16:07

That's why I think the Jyspiere looks better than the Birkin - easier to use. Also considerably easier to get hold of.

I use my LV neverfull all the time - work bag, travel bag and beach bag all in one.

I do ysl for a nice clutch though and am having a little navy one for my upcoming birthday.

We're about to move out of our house for 6 months for aforementioned building works and can only really take a couple of bags with me. Which ones to take is occupying way too much of my time Wink

I also can't help but compare every house purchase/expense to a bag - curtains for sitting room = chanel boy bag etc etc.

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/08/2016 16:08

I reckon a jypsiere is a better 'investment' than a car. Or maybe that's just because of the way I drive Wink

LaurieFairyCake · 13/08/2016 16:11

I also can only find the jypsiere in navy on the U.S. site - no idea why the UK site just has comedy colours - there's no black or navy on the UK site

LaurieFairyCake · 13/08/2016 16:16

Jypsiere in Navy (medium- no large available) $9500

For those that love designer bags
MrsCampbellBlack · 13/08/2016 16:17

They'd have it in store - the uk site isn't great.

Madbengalmum · 13/08/2016 16:19

I have been spoiled this birthday and am getting the bag i have been drooling over it for a while now, and after waiting forever my order has finally arrived!
I see it is a bag some of you covet...i just love it and use it all the time.

AmberNectarine · 13/08/2016 16:44

I also love the Boy. I use my Chanel a lot - I'm not precious about my bags, they're just things. Considering getting one this Autumn.

Also want a Neverfull, a PS11, a Giant City and a new season Gucci clutch. Will try and tick a couple of those off this year (birthday, Xmas and anniversary coming up - better stop shouting at DH for a bit Wink).

I have a Rockie - I do like it, but it is heavy for a small bag!

LaurieFairyCake · 13/08/2016 16:46

I'm wel jel Envy - that's very nice

I've got a lovely navy clutch - the Anya Hindmarch Valerie - got it off EBay last month for £55 Grin - it's so gorgeous, not used it yet

I bought it because I have one of the glitter Valories and I love, love, love it - every time I take it out people stop me in the street and say they want it/where did I get it. I've had it 5 years and I can't ever imagine getting bored of it - and its shiny so won't really go out of fashion

Katelocks · 13/08/2016 16:48

I would love the Chanel flap and am very tempted by the LV Bagatelle.

Madbengalmum · 13/08/2016 16:48

Laurie, thanks, im really pleased with it. It took months and months to arrive from order but well worth it!

Absolom · 13/08/2016 21:33

Great thread! Bags are my thing, I am addicted. My current bag tally stands at 31, 21 high end designer and the rest contemporary designer. In the last 6 months I have on sold around 15.
I'm surprisingly quite content with my collection at this stage but I guess if I had to pick one I'd like right now, there's a saint Laurent tote I quite like. I do resell but I buy all mine new as I like to know where they have come from. There's so many fakes out there in the second hand world it's hard to pick the genuine from the fake and no matter how many times the seller assured me it was real I'd still have doubts even if I got it authenticated by a third party.
My favourite of all my bags so far is my Givenchy Antigona. Very sturdy and practical for me.
